Coldflows

The PJ4 arrived earlier this week. Plays well and sounds good. Tiny bit of fret buzz, played around with the truss rod and action and got it down to almost nothing. I always find it improves as the strings age anyway. Anyway, as usual i was playing find the fault... Couldn't work it out this time until i realised that the bridge is about 1mm out on the e string. Problem being that you cant possibly move it 1mm without filling and then re-drilling every hole in the bridge. So i just adjusted the saddles and it plays fine. Bargain for £35 delivered!

That pickup is unusual! Could it be a Gibson mudbucker type? It also looks similar to the pickups on Yamaha attitudes, albeit at the oppesite end of the bass. Still an awesome looking bass, I hope you enjoy it!

Was having a long discussion about these and 'joodee'and this was found as an example of the strange truss rod adjuster on that family of basses. I post a link to it saying was it worth buying and two seconds later boom its gone! Atleast I know its going to a good home ha! I hope you enjoy it, let us know how good it is (so I can be jealous of my awful timing). Edit: Maybe I can babysit one of your basses your 'moving on' :-P but seriously great buy!

If I could find one of those id be tempted to mess around a bit and do a Yamaha attitude style with a massive humbucker at the neck and a ric style bridge pickup... Lots of routing for that!!

My Renegade has the stock pickups in it. So like mini Stingray pups. It sounds good but its a bit harsh. I fancied something I can dial back that's a little more forgiving. What pups are you using?

Is the bass a renegade? If so il be interested how it sounds with P bass pups. I just can't get on with the set up of the pickups on mine!

10/10 best guitar I have ever seen. The real question is when are they going to do a penguin one?

Have you thought about getting them rewound? There are a few company's around. Can't remember any of the top of my head but I'm sure someone will be around to say. Nice bass by the way. I love unusual pickups on relatively normal looking bass!

@Annoying Twit: sunburst Telecaster and a black P bass. Annoyingly the P bass was cancelled about 20 mins ago, it seems to happen about 50% of the time. Saying that so far I have had 5 (6 with the tele) so far so some other people deserve them!

Mr Zed, that has to be the first progressive Harley Benton I would even think of picking up. They should use that style of scratchplate on all of them!

Glad your enjoying yourself. The 5 strings are good! Has anyone actually had a fully unplayable guitar?

[/quote] Just turned up, the tracking doesn't seem to work brilliantly outside of Germany. This bass is great fun. The neck is wide but not unplayable. So does that mean if a batch of basses comes in and they pick up the only unlucky bass they waste the lot and stamp them dekos? All I can find wrong with this is two tiny lines in the paintjob. It's a £100 bass at full price I can't understand how that little can be considered unplayable!

My PJ 5 string turned up. Wow. Why they call these dekos I have no idea. Two slight strips on the back where the paint is thicker. Had a 5 min tinker and got it playing. I'm impressed.

http://www.alittlethunder.com/ Popped up on my Facebook, had a bit of a read and thought I'd show it to the basschat community! I personally can see the use but only in signal splitting and running through a two separate effects boards and amps, giving a kind of guitar royal blood sound BUT its only sterio output so you only have one signal and it would be coming from one amp? So it won't work with effects and will sound ridiculous when they try and use for example a wah pedal. It's also only for humbucker guitar so I guess that narrows the genres its usefull for.
