2. Not wanting to suggest more work to the bass as it looks great but I can picture a third pickup at the bridge! 😉

A P/J for Davy

It's a squire but not sure where it was made. You're right, the colour can be different depending on the light. I used to have a MIM Precision that was B&Q orange in the flesh but it looked like fiesta red under certain lights! If it turns out to be more of a candy red then the tort pick guard might not work and then I might keep the off white one.

A P/J for Davy

Pics of the neck and also the body that I've just managed to source on Ebay. Does it look like fiesta red to anyone? Still happy with the colour even if it's not and it came fully loaded so could actually put a bass together with what I've just bought. Tortoiseshell pick guard next on the shopping list followed by bridge pickup fitting..........

A P/J for Davy

Well lets see who gets finished first! Probably you......
6. I've just picked up a nice precision style neck from Rumple with a view to putting together a P/J bass. I'm currently sourcing the various components but as this is my first attempt into custom work I would describe it more as an assembling of components rather than a true custom build. Hopefully it will still qualify me to include it in this forum.... I'll upload a picture of the neck soon but it's precision style, rosewood board with a nice cream binding along the edges. This is the basic spec. I'm looking at: White, sunburst, fiesta red or amber precision body(depending on what comes up for sale). I may look make it roadworn but I'll wait and see what it all looks like when it's assembled first. Standard precision tortoiseshell scratchplate. Passive P/J pickups. Undecided on the brand yet but probably Fender USA unless anyone has any alternative suggestions. Standard bridge for the time being but may upgrade to something more substantial in the future. I'm undecided as to whether to do the typical P/J conversion, i.e. re-drill the jack socket on the edge of the body and use the existing jack socket as the tone pot or go for a two stacked knob configuration which I think might make it look a little bit different. Will upload pics of the neck soon and hopefully the body as and when I can find one.........
7. Just bought a Yamaha RBXA2 from Benedict. Nice easy transaction, no fuss. Deal with confidence.
8. This won't hang around long!
9. Come on, someone buy this! I'm going to look at a bass tomorrow night and if that one isn't the one for me then this one could be on my list as it's a steal at this price. Postage might widen its appeal though.........
10. Excuse my ignorance but does medium scale mean that it's shorter than something like a jazz or a precision?
11.
Where are you based?
Co Durham, you must reading this on a mobile. I wish they would do something with the mobile version so that we could see where the seller was based as this happens a lot.
12. Mr Big was probably the first bass solo I was aware of as a young player. I loved Free and Andy's playing. I'll be playing Mr Big with my band at the weekend though I doubt that I'll manage the solo with the same ease as Andy always did. You're All Right Now Andy. RIP.
13. Looks great, do you want to build me a jazz? 😊
14. Sold a precision pickup to Ian recently. Quick payment and good communications, would recommend to any other Basschat members.
15. Would I be wrong to suggest that the correct name for the bass would be either "Classic Vibe" or "Vintage Modified" rather than "Vintage Vibe"? In any case a nice looking bass! GLWTS.
16. Was just about to say if only this had frets but it looks like it could be on its way to a new owner already!
17. Do you know where this was made?
18. Does it do a single coil jazz-type bridge pickup sound?
19. What colour is it? Do you have any pictures?
20. I'm sure "Matt P" was looking for one of these, might be worth a PM...
