1. WHoops indeed. There goes a disc.
2. I completely agree that changing your cabs is the thing to start with. THe GK neo cabs are OK (I have owned and gigged the 212 and the 115. I have a significant preference for the 1x15, which had a much less scooped midrange and a more balanced overall character. The 115 is also very portable, being just about a one hand lift. I have not played the 112. However, if I had 600 squid to spare I would definitely be looking at a used high quality 2x12. There are a lot of really very light 2x12's out there, so not a huge burden to take to small gigs. THe shear tonal quality and volume you will get out of modern long-throw speakers in well designed cabs is in a different class to the GK neo cabs IMO. Look out for Barefaced cabs, Bergantino, Genz Benz NX2. etc. Lot sof great, mint condition used cabs out there well within your budget
3. Knobs are ...... 1/ volume 2/ sustain (gain) 3/ tone 4/ mids 5/ threshold for the noisegate.
4.
Trades? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/249105-pedal-cull-boss-dod-sonic-kitchen-dha-further-reductions/page__hl__cull Si
Sorry Si. Needing cash at the moment.
5. I owned and gigged the MB500 and a 1001RB. I strongly preferred the tone of the RB. I didn't find them particularly similar. The RB was more musical, less mid-scooped, and had a load more tones to offer than the MB. The boost was far more musical on the RB too, to my ears. Sorry, not tried the MB800. Either amp will have ample volume for just about anything, with ample cabbage.
6. sorry -- WITHDRAWN. Excellent condition East mid sweep, dual range parametric mids module with black knobs. Perfect working order. No crackling or any other issues. Can be retro-fitted to active or passive basses (I have done this myself and it works great with either). This unit is 2 or 3 years old and thus has the "old style" connections and will thus need soldering to connect to your bass (the new ones are screw clamp connections). It is exactly the same sweet parametric mids function as the current ones though. You can either solder directly to the prongs on the East, or use adapted EMG push fit connectors, which (very usefully) fit on the prongs on the East connections. I will supply the two EMG leads in the pics, which are all you need to connect input and output. Power connects to the soldered on red lead. Details about the unit and installation at .... http://www.east-uk.com/index.php/bass/single-stack-modules/mid-sweep-01.html and http://www.east-uk.com/pdf/midsweep01.pdf £39 posted to you in the UK. Will post abroad, but contact me for costs. pics of mine here ....... 7.
I have some carrots? And a rather smashing looking turnip.
Now you're talking !!

http://basschat.co.uk/topic/253719-warwick-corvette-ocean-blue/ and http://basschat.co.uk/topic/253263-gmr-bassforce-4-string/ spring straight to mind (I have no affiliation to either seller)
9.
Ahhh, so tempted but too much stuff coming in at the moment, need stuff going out! I could offer a kidney but I would need cash my way, perhaps a slice of liver?
Vegetarian here I'm afraid.
10. I am so, so tempted to buy this as a backup. I have just bought one of these and it is truly incredible. Really not too heavy either. So GLWTS.Hope somebody buys it soon and takes the temptation away.
11.
Is this the guitar or bass version?
Good question. It's the bass version. Original post now amended.
12. SOLD Immaculate and amazing Fuzzrocious Grey Stache (plus extra footswitchable noise gate function) for sale. THE best fuzz pedal for bass on the planet ! (also apparently great on guitar) ......... and I must have tried most of them. Based on a muff circuit, but much more tonal control and mids galore, if you want them. Very handy noise gate gives an unexpected extra range of tones too. Only for sale as I don't need a fuzz pedal any more. Handpainted by some kid (the maker's children I believe). WOrks perfectly. The noise gate is very, very useful, and is an extra on this version. Currently has hook Velcro on the bottom, but I can easily remove this is you would prefer. £85 posted to you in mainland UK. I will post abroad, but will cost a little more. Sorry, no trades.
13. up
14. Sorry
15. SOLD Immaculate COG Knightfall (bass version), about 2 months old. These are the best bass OD pedals in the known universe. I have 2 but only now need one, as I have a new amp which takes away the need for a 2nd for me. Full details at ..... http://www.cogeffects.co.uk/knightfall.php Has hook Velcro on the rear, which I can remove if you prefer. £89 posted to you in mainland UK, and also avoid the wait for Tom to make one if you buy new. This will be the second time I have gone down from 2 to 1 knightfall. I wouldn't bet against me getting another one at some point in the future though ! 16. Methinks those are just revamped RS cabs. The power handling is identical and the weights are very close too.
17. More like £400 in the current climate I'd reckon.
18. Get yourself some strong double sided tape to try out different thumbrest positions. Worked well for me.
19.
ive just got a 1001rb combo in a trade. Not had enough time to explore it fully yet but its sure can do a lot. Any suggestions of things to try?
The key controls are the boost and the contour controls for me. The boost will give you a huge range from sparkly clean (when off) to various levels of squashy valveness as you increase it. It's not overdrive as such but it adds a fat squashy valveness, incredibly similar to many valve amps IME. Can make the tone sound much "bigger" in the mix. Contour is the usual mid scoop control, but very well implemented and musical IMO. With most basses I tended to leave the input gain set pretty low (about 9 o clock) to allow the most musical range of the boost knob. It certainly is actually quite a complex amp structure to learn to get the best from. Happy experimenting. I played a 1001 combo a while back and remember being very impressed with the speakers and cab on it.
20. Not sure there is great demand for a 10kg amp in todays market., outside bass geeks. Most bassists couldn't give a monkeys what class their power amp is, but they do care greatly how heavy it is. I'm very surprised they didn't use the very effective bass terror power section in this, to make it much, much lighter.
21.
Great shout on the TTE500. Hadn't considered that, but they do look good. With the Little Mark I used a Boss SD1 set as a clean boost which warmed the sound up and added that bit of hair to the mids. I'd likely do something similar with the Puma if the taste pot didn't do it for me. I always dialled the highs back on the Little Mark too and don't use tweeters in ceramic cabs. So I'm not after zingy highs at all. Which us what nade me think thay the Tone Hammer would be best. I wonder if the TTE series are still Italian made, prices haven't dropped any.
Fair enough, if you don't use a tweeter, the TH500 will almost certainly be all you need. My only complaint with the TH was it's top end, which for you is irrelevant. Oh, and ditch that SD-1, get a COG Knightfall and a blend pedal (seriously, I don't often write this, but you will thank me later).
22. Seriously cool bass.
23. The TH500 was just a bit too "vintagey" for me. Not enough top end when I wanted it, which is not all the time, but sometimes I do. Great chewy thick tones but not hugely versatile IMO. But then the Puma won't do tonehammer tones will it. Do you use pedals or do you want everything from your amp. Puma plus pedals would be a good options IMO For me, the GK RB series are some of the most versatile amps out there. Maybe the Markbass TTE 500/800 ? I'm really wanting to try the new Fender Rumble 500. The Rumble range have sounded good and been really reliable for many years and I also have a real soft spot for Fender Solid state overdrive.
