Would you consider shipping yet please? It's dead easy, I used to avoid it but don't now. thanks Mike(Pestie)
I have two basses for sale currently and only one set of boxes and packing. As I can only courier one, it would be the other bass, as this Squier should be more saleable locally. However, if the other bass sells locally I am more than happy to send the Squier with a courier. I will edit the thread if that happens (and also let youknow via PM, Pestie).

now SOLD For sale, my recently acquired MIK Squier P bass. I am a bit gutted as I love the look and tone of this thing, and it is completely sorted, but I just can't get on with the 41mm nut. I find I can play nicely on anything up to 40mm nut width, but anything more and my fluidity is definitely compromised. I so wanted this to work out, but I have to admit that it won't. Am selling it to get a narrower nutted P. Anyway, it's a Samick-factory-made 1991 Squier precision. Gorgeous neck, tone and looks. Schaller-licensed tuners (original). The necks on these are known as being particularly excellent. A relatively light bass. I'd guess 8lbs or thereabouts. A completely sorted instrument. I have adjusted the intonation, pickup height, action, filed nut slots and taken down a couple of higher frets. Plays real nice now. A player's bass. Buy this to gig it and enjoy ! Whoever gets this will not be disappointed. £115 collection from the Southampton area. Or £130 couriered within mainland UK.
Thanks John, the neck on this one is superb, low action and no rattling, well finished frets too.
I bet it's a cracker ! I so wanted to keep the one I tried, for it's tone. Just a pity about Fender's so-so quality control on that one's neck. Does yours have a particularly punchy E string ? I remember that very vividly on the one I tried. Really blew me away. Neck was a great shape too, for people who may struggle with a normal P. Still a 41.3mm nut but noticeably slimmer front to back.
are there any spec changes for an American Special?
THe necks on these are a slim C shape . Still have graphite rods in the necks. They have "cheaper", although not necessarily worse, hardware than the USA std series. Are a bit lighter than the std's too, as they have only a bit of light handstaining instead of the heavier poly finishes. I had one for a couple of days on approval. It was the nicest P tone I have ever played. However, the neck was not good on the one I tried. The one I tried needed a lot of fretwork and it may even have been warped. I sent it back. There's a lot of love and a big thread on them here ..... http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/2012-american-special-p-bass-honeyburst-927909/

I got a '91 Samick-built Korean Squier P this week and have been very pleased overall. Yes, it has a plywood body. It's actually a pretty light bass though, and sounds gorgeous. All woody and nice. I'd never guess it was ply if I didn't know. The Schaller-designed tuners are on their last legs and they are probably the only thing I shall change, although I may possibly toy with pickups, just out of habit I suppose ! The neck is a fairly standard 41mm nut P neck and feels nice in the hand. Feels like a nicer piece of wood than modern MIM necks. Reminds me of a Mighty Mite neck actually. The fretwork, however, was not particularly amazing although I have improved it significantly by taking down a couple of high frets. Now it is a very playable and lovely sounding P. Total cost so far - £110. Bargain !

SOLD For sale is my 1985 Made in Japan (Matsumoku) Westone Spectrum, sporting an aged Satin black re-finish. Retro-fitted with a brand new EMG 40DC active pickup and controls. As the final touch it has a custom Guy Lewis ebony thumbrest. As standard, it also includes a maple body and neck, rosewood fretboard, a graphite nut and a high mass cast bridge. For those in the know, the 80’s Matsumoku-made guitars are bordering on legendary for build quality and this is no exception. This bass has a great low-medium action. Nut slots filed to perfection. Intonation is spot on. Absolutely no dead spots on the neck. Truss rod works freely in both directions. Tuners are smooth and solid. Controls are volume and tone and also a mini-toggle switch to disconnect the battery, allowing you to leave the lead plugged in without wasting battery charge. Not a heavy bass but not uber-light either. I have no way of weighing it accurately but I’d guess it is somewhere around 8.5lbs (please don’t take that as gospel though). Hangs nicely on the strap. Noticeably lighter than my Westone Thunder anyway, which itself feels like a feather compared to something like an Aria SB700/1000. With the EMG, it punches beautifully through a band mix and gives it a much more hardcore feel and tone than the standard bass. A unique vintage bass that truly looks the part in a modern rock band. Soundclip at …. https://soundcloud.com/alanbridges/westone-spectrum-emg Only for sale as I have similarly customised a Westone Thunder and it only makes sense to keep one of them as they are very similar indeed. Whoever gets this will not be disappointed. I have put a lot of effort into this one. Collection from the Southampton area for £135 or I’ll courier within mainland UK for £149. SOLD Used briefly in one bass. Does exactly what they say it should do. Turns your high impedance passive signal into a low impedance one. Giving you no loss of punch or treble through long cables. Really effective with high output passive pickups. Less necessary with low output ones IMO. Comes with full instruction. If you can solder at all you can fit this. Even if you've never soldered before you still probably can ! £29 posted to you in mainland UK. £31 posted within the EU.

Well I've tried everything and the circuit still pops when switched on. No problem. I'm still pleased with having it there. I'll just have to mute whilst activating it.
Chain would look like this: Battery >switch lug 1 > cap on lug 2> active EQ circuit board. If you put the cap on the "voltage input" side of the switch you'd still have the pop.
OK, one contact of the cap on the switch contact away from the battery ... yes. What about the other end of the cap ? just to ground ?
-
Admission ... I can be a bit dim sometimes. So ...... Do I put the cap across the contacts of the switch or across the hot and ground contacts of the battery circuit ? Maybe I'll try both and see what happens. It's only 18V. What can go wrong ? Lol.
-
Yup, smoothing cap'll do it. start with a 0.1uf / 100nf (capacitor code 104) and see where that gets you.
Where do I put the cap ? Across the contacts of the switch ? The switch I have installed is a SPDT switch on the hot lead coming out of the battery BTW.

Useful item for a dirt pedal enthusiast. Revue please ! Any volume loss at the 50:50 setting ?
-
I tried the 1 meg resistor on the switch and it made no difference. To be honest I will not bother any more trying to change things as it's so easy for me to mute my signal with my tuner whilst I activate/de-activate the switch. It works well. In fact I can't imagine why any active bass wouldn't actually have a switch to isolate the battery.

Now sold subject to final payment. Moen Buffalo preamp pedal for sale. About a year old. Has input gain trim, output gain, bass, treble, mids level, and parametric mids frequency controls. Plus an XLR DI out and a ground lift switch. Great condition, but a couple of nicks out of the paint. Velcro on the bottom. POwered by the usual 9V Boss-type PSU (not included) A surprisingly capable pedal for such a reasonable price. Very low noise floor. The only real negative is that it is a fair size and weight. Just not getting used with me now. I have onboard EQ where I need it. £30 posted to your door in mainland UK !!!!
That's a phrase that I like ... far more flattering than ham-fisted (which is how people usually describe me)!
THank you sir. It came to me on the spur of the moment. I have to say I was quite pleased with it myself !
Therefore, surely, your input to such threads is of limited value?
If it were a thread about the tone/quality etc etc of BF cabs then yes, and I would never offer an opinion about them as I have no experience. But then actually ... No, because this thread is/was supposed to be about the market and pricing etc. Just pi$$es me off a tiny little bit when every thread mentioning BF cabs in any way turns into a Fanclub Lovefest Event about how awesome they are and how dare anyone criticise them.
