I prefer a 4 for two reasons. Firstly, my whole technique, honed over something like 30 years, is based on a 4. When I pick up a 5 my damping and control goes out the window. It feels like going from a driving a sports car to an HGV. So, yes, I admit it, it is my technique that is lacking. But secondly, my ear simply doesn't particularly appreciate notes below a D (which I can clearly easily get by detuning my low string on a 4). I just don't see the point in notes that low. They do nothing for me, and lack a fullness that notes of D and above do, whatever they are played on or by whoever. Something about my ears/brain simply not "getting" the frequencies required at that depth I suppose. So, for me, Mr Fender got it right first time all those years ago.
..... I do wonder how people who use the 9.0 ever manage to gig that more powerful amp. I cannot imagine being able to do so with any of the bands I work with.
A simple manouvre with the master volume knob usually does the trick. Addressing the OP's question, I would suggest adding the GK Neo 212, which is a cracking fit with the streamliner amps, to the list. Whatever cab you get, make sure it ... a) has enough top end, as if you like to slap, the STreamliner is not the toppiest of amps. has enough mids as the streamliner is inherently a touch mid shy IMO. Despite what I'm saying I love the amp, and it is definately the best amp for my tastes I have ever used. THe clean tone is simply gorgeously complex and full. Add some dirt and your away !!

The Gallien Krueger 2x12 neo is a cracking cab. Well worth a look at. I would think it would match rather well with a Markbass amp as their EQ strengths are different and therefore complementary. Cheaper than anything else suggested too ! Also very light

Just bought a Lakland 44-01 bass from Davy, which arrived today. I am very happy indeed with it. Great chap, excellent communication from him too. Packed very well. Bass was absolutely as described. THanks mate !

Also worth trying a Yamaha BB424 (X). Great, great precision tones and other options too. HIgh quality for your money too.

New Amp Day. Ashdown 550 spyder. Definately broken.

Most likely issue with any valve (or hybrid valve) amp is a dodgy valve. If it happens again try swapping out any pre-amp valves. Can't remember how many there are in the Spyder but I'm pretty sure it has at least one critical valve gain stage. All the best with it !! -

1996 Fender Jazz deluxe bass, 50th anniversary edition, in a sunburst finish with ivory pearloid pickguard. Absolutely standard and all original. This is a 50th anniversary edition and carries the appropriate sticker on the rear of the headstock still (see photo). Includes original Fender hard case and all case candy. This bass plays and sounds like a dream. A lovely neck and gorgeous tone. It has really hardly been played, for it's age, though. Still in absolutely superb condition with no noticeable fret wear. I only recently bought it from james, who was it's original owner from new, who had babied it all it's life amongst his collection of basses. I am now selling up most my bass gear though to buy a guitar rig, so unfortunately this has to go, as I cannot afford to have so much money tied up in just one instrument. I have scoured the bass for any dings, scratches etc. All I can find is a tiny one on the back of the neck (pictured) which you really cannot feel in use. There is no buckle rash on the rear at all. Not even any swirling when you look carefully in good light. The pre-amp is quality (as is the whole instrument) with bass, mids and treble controls. As well as a master volume and a pickup blend knob. This is a quality. quality instrument. You will not be disappointed. It naturally has quite a bright, twangy tone and yet with the pre-amp you can dial in all sorts of other tones too. £700 collected from the Southampton area or £715 couriered within mainland UK. Overseas buyers please contact for quote of shipping costs. Sorry no trades.
turn the bass down on the streamliner i have the bass knob set at 10 o'clock and there's still plenty of low end
+1. Bass at 9 to 10 o'clock is usually about right on the Streamliner. It has a huge amount of bass otherwise.

Can't comment on the fivers but the 4 stringer BB424X is an absolutely cracking bass. Incredible tone and quality for the price.

I used to run an ABM500 into a 4 ohm SChroeder 410, and the ABM couldn't even make it break into a sweat. I think you'll be fine. THe ABM's 575 watts are not very generous. I'm surprised that you think you'll get a load more top end out of an ABM though (and I co-incidentally I currently also run a streamliner 900). My ABM was always rather lacking there. I found that SChroeder cabs were also not ideal if top end is what you are looking for, being highly mid-dominated. Might be worth looking at a different cab rather than a different amp. But, ultimately, on purely amp/cab matching grounds, I'd be surprised if you stressed your Schroeder cab much with the ABM,, unless you tried putting the entire ABM output into it with a very bass-heavy sound.
