1. Finished at a far from outrageous £259 + P&P. Was it anyone we know?
 2.
Bloodaxe was a comic figure in the Spawn series - loosely based on Eric the Bloodaxe a Norse viking character (or something along those lines, lol). I think also in other comics like Marvel's Thor etc
Ah, different frame of reference there - see where you've strayed. I chose it out of a perceived affinity with an unlikely pair of characters in Robert Rankin's very silly 'Armageddon' trilogy, Rambo Bloodaxe & Deathblade Eric, who are the sole survivors of the very polite, well spoken, nattily dressed psychotic cannibalistic Devianti. If you've not read them I'd recommend a perusal - how many post-apocalyptic sci-fi tales feature alien vegetable intelligence, a time-travelling Elvis and a talking Brussels Sprout as well as a lantern-jawed hero that thwarts the bad guys & gets the girl (who, of course, happens to be Jesus' twin sister), Eh? Not enough, that's how many. P.
 3.
You're not coming in full 'bloodaxe' fancy dress are you?
I have no idea what you're talking about. However, if I can blag a lift, the Bloody Explorer might make an appearance. (note to self: - draw the curtains next time)
 4.
Might look a bit cheesy but a label with site nick-name & then 'real' first name might help people to identify each other?
You've just given me a cunning idea... Hopefully more later.
 5.
Ok folks.. Jakesbass has agreed to do a Q and A session if he is free for the day and there is demand for him to do it. Jake has some very valuable experience as a bass player and previous comments here on BC have all been very positive. I for one, would like to hear more from Jake, as I'm sure there's loads I could learn from him. So, what would you all like to ask Jake ? Suggestions please...... T
What's his Previous? If he could put up his CV that'd be a huge help. As to food, ta for the heads up! I'll mainly be self-catering methinks. I.D. Previous bashes have gone with a sign-in sheet & sticky labels with all writing on - seems to work. Pete.
 6.
i don't like you. for the last 4 years i've had A bass. humph
Just you wait... You've only been here six weeks. I had ONE bass from 1982 until I joined back in 2005, that's TWENTY-THREE years! 2005 to 2007? GAS! - I've got six of the buggers now & it's only unemployment that's preventing that figure from going up Trust me, a year or so down the line & you'll be up to your eyeballs in gear. Pete.
 7.
One thing to remember, the string spacing is closer together - more like a Ric than a Fender but only takes a few minutes to get used to. Looks a really nice one. Go on, you know you want to!!
10 hours to go & no movement! I'm a tad stunned! The critical dimensions... Neck Width at Nut: 45mm Neck Width at Body join (19th fret): 55mm String Spacing (centre-centre) Nut: 35.5mm String Spacing (centre-centre) Bridge: 46mm Taken from my 1980 SB-900 strung with 45-105. If it stays at that price you won't see another one! Do it... Pull that trigger. P.
 8. Dead Flowers. Not the Stones version, but New Riders Of The Purple Sage from "Home On The Road". Dead easy, but what a tune!
 9. Oooohhh You B*****R! Only one! If it came down to it it'd have to be this one: Battered & bruised, buckle rashed, modded, de-modded & re-modded to the point of stupidity. Weighs a ton. but... It was my first love, I learned on this one & it cost me a month's wages back in 1982. Much as I'm deeply & passionately into the SB fretless (& can't see myself ever letting it go), I couldn't get shot of this - too much of me in it. Pete.
 10.
Then I ordered some custom made Wizard soap bars and the day they were fitted by Jon Shuker was the last day I looked at or wanted to play another bass.
Similar tale here. Mine was the day I picked the SB FrankenFretless up from the Gallery, all properly shot in & that... A year down the line, it still feels so right & everything else feels a bit wrong. As & when I've got the cash, might contemplate a couple of lightweight 1 x 12s to give a few more options - mainly just for ease of (Public) transport. Won't change the Superfly unless the worst happens - no need, it does all I want & more. GAS? I don' need no steeenkeeeeeng GAS

 12.
It's kind of ironic that I'm moaning about the width of a P neck when I've recently started on the double bass. Maybe if I held the Precision vertically...
Maybe that's an answer... After a session on the DB, "reward" yourself with a good blowout on the fretless - the difference in profiles is so extreme that you may start to click with the fretless. Or, as others have suggested, source a fretless J neck. I'm with Dan670844 on the "personal thing" - 28 years of the Aria SB neck profile & virtually everything else feels wrong to me. Pete.
 13. A.N. Other possibility is it's setup. I find swapping back to frets to be a bit of a chore TBH. I put this down to the wonderfully slick setup that the Gallery did on my SB-1000 - everything else feels a bit "clunky" now, despite nigh on identical neck profiles. Pete.
 14. Welcome Abroad.
 15. If it was very pink and had a big "Hello Kitty" graphic on it, I'd seriously consider it.
 16.
Not gonna be able to try before I buy I don't think but for 150 might be worth a cheeky punt. Sure I can make that back on it if need be.
5 days to go... It won't stay at £150 for long.
 17. Greetings, Noel's done the deed regarding the specs, so I'll chip in with my opinion. Wolf in sheep's clothing? Yup. A very common comment on forums is "I used to have one of those... wish I'd kept it". Caveat... I've never played a single p/up SB, so my knowledge is scanty here. Also - Your avatar suggests you're rather at home with a Precision, Aria SBs are a completely different bag & rather Marmite. If you can cope with the ergonomics, they're beautifully balanced & very easy to play but they don't adhere to what I term the "Fender Standard". If possible, try one before committing the cash - where are you in the world? Edit: Not quite sure what model this is... At first glance it looks like a through-neck SB-700, but there's something about the heel that makes me think it's a set-neck SB-600. Headstock design suggests 1981 or later. Pete.
 18.
Yes, Alan, I remember from my art school days acrylic primer with oil on top=okay, oil primer with acrylic on top = no way!
And... Oil base + Cellulose topcoat = recipe for disaster Acrylic base + Cellulose topcoat = playing with fire Beware the rattle-can acrylics too, a lot of these have deeply unpleasant solvents that can & will make a mess of priming/undercoats if the solvents differ. For a pure brushing clearcoat, try Rustin's Gloss Varnish. Water based, goes on like tar but once dry can be cut back with wet & dry used wet & then polished. Top quality brushes help too. Pete.

 20. Sounds to me like you're being told wrong then. Pluck how you will to get the effect you want/need - no-one's going to call the cops! IMO there's no "right way" - if it sounds good to your ears, & isn't likely to cause any long-term health issues then crack on, I say. Ditto for strap height, picks, action, distortion, scooped EQ, Slapping, harmonics, chords etc. etc. etc. ad nauseam. Pete.
 21. I'm broadly with NAS on this one, but I'll add in the "laziness" factor. If the tune has a signature lick/riff/line that has to be there, I'll endeavour to nail it - e.g. Spencer Davis' "Gimme Some Lovin'", Whitesnake's "Fool For Your Loving" or Little Feat's "Let It Roll". Improvise over those & there's a very good chance of destroying the character completely. Mostly I just nail the changes & then join the dots how I see fit. It keeps it fun for me, & can (in some instances) enhance the original. Sometimes improv is compulsory... A lot of Jack Bruce/Cream stuff for instance - Politician gets dull really quickly if you just cycle the riff. "Dancing in The Moonlight" & "Comfortably Numb" have potential for stretching out a bit too. From the OP's description though, that's a bit too far IMO - sounds like a case of "that'll do". They got any YouTube footage TimR? Pete.

 23.
Price would be OK if it was Japanese - this is almost certainly post-Matsumoku Korean - otherwise it would say MIJ on the neckplate. I suppose the W@nkstick might be worth a few quid though! J.
According to the S/N it's an '86 - When did production shift? I thought it was '87. P.

 25.
Thank you sir! I had in mind a rather thinner glove than your gardening mit, but you've made a pretty good fist (sorry!) of it! Was it any harder to play? It sounded like you took a few bars to get used to the different feel but towards the end you were flying! p.s. I loooove your sig!
Don't apologise... Bad Puns 'R' Us Apart from some woolly mitts & 1/2 a pair of Marigolds, they're the only gloves I own I was pleasantly surprised at how little the glove interfered with the intonation, different story if I'd worn one on my right hand I'll bet. I'll have to experiment some more just in case I land an outdoor Jump Blues gig in the depths of winter!
First is the Glove?
1st = ungloved. 2nd = gloved.
Me on stage? I’m the sad git that doesn’t even play live, but if I did I’d be very dull and boring as I don’t have any extroversion at all. I would change quite a few of my traits if I could.
Find a local Jam night & get yer finger out man! Once you're over the initial blind terror it's probably the best fun you can have with your clothes on Pete.
