... still a problem for me. Every time I search for fretless (ordered by last update time) I have to go through all 31 pages of results to find the recent updates.
This is still a problem for me, any chance of fixes/patches coming up soon ? Andy
If I go to 'My Content' the ordering seems to be a bit erratic. Within the first page, it seems to be ordered by most recently updated, which is good, what I'd expect. However if you go to the second page, you find topics much more recent than the last topic on the first page. Same for third page etc. This is a bug surely ? Any chance of a fix ? Bassist Required - Soul/ funk band West London
BigBeatNut replied to Leachr's topic in Bassists Wanted
I'm interested, if I'm not too late -- do I fit based on this profile ? Andy -
Also, without meaning to sound rude, am I missing something? The retail price for a new 55-01 at the moment, after a quick search, appears to be cheaper than this second-hand one you have listed here... I'm not well-informed on Laklands, and was just wondering if there was something I wasn't aware of.
Both pickups and pre-amp have been upgraded, and there are other upgrades too. If Johnebass was closer to London I'd be checking out the 55-01 myself.
Same song - Who Did You Think I Was - from the Pino POV Dig the Grolsch bottle-washer straplocks.
Since this video was my introduction to John Mayer (a year ago or whatever) I always had him pegged as a power trio guy, but it looks like his acoustic/vocal stuff predominates (in youtube videos at least). Which of his albums should I be looking at for the rockier stuff like this video ? Andy
J retro ? Is that a john east retro ?
That what it looked like to me. Forgot to mention 'Duncan Design' pickups ... are they a standard feature of some Fenders/Squiers ? Anyway, I'm pretty sure that was what it had. Last seen late Saturday afternoon. Haven't walked by the shop since. Andy

Hmmm, mixed messages so far. Well, it's got a price tag of £160 on it. Whoever wants it will need to get to London, because it's in a shop, not your usual music shop. Suspect whoever priced it doesn't know about the j-retro. PM me for exact location. Don't want to publicly mention it (because I'd hope it would go to someone who wants to play it, not someone looking to profit) Andy
For me natural with black scratch plate looks good enough. Why to to cover natural grain of the body? Unless you will choose translucent finish.
Natural with black pickguard is a great look ....
Yes it's Pino, yes it's been posted before, apologies, but I take any opportunity I get to post this..! Boss.
Love it ... there is another version of that vid though with more of Pino in it. EDIT aha ... already covered ... apologies.

And before anyone says "try putting it on sale" it's not mine ... I've seen it for sale locally and it looks like a bit of a bargain. Natural finish, maple neck with blocks and a j-retro (or something that looks very like one, 3 stacked knobs, 2 mini-toggles). It's not something I'll make a move on (the j-retro is interesting but I don't play 4s anymore), so I'll let on where it is later ... if it looks like a bargain. Andy
Having just got my first lil' synth bass keyboard,Microkorg, for doing pop gigs, I've been listening to some Pop/RnB synth bass playing lately, cats like Usher, Mary J Blige, Brian McNight, Jessie J, and I've been really inspired by some of that stuff... Trade my Lakland 55-02 DLX for your JO/DJ5 or 55-02 Fretless
BigBeatNut replied to MoJoKe's topic in Basses For Sale
... I would be keen to explore the possibility of trading this 55-02 for a 5 string fretless, Lakland (55-02) ideally, but must have 35" scale, so I have a fretless/fretted pair. Much more useful!
It took me two years to find my 55-02 fretless. Thought about getting your fretted one converted ? A simple defret wouldn't be exorbitant, and a new fingerboard (which wouldn't be cheap admittedly) would also give you the option of going unlined, which you won't get on a factory 55-02. You might get a quicker result than me that way. BTW my fretless 5ers are staying put The 55-02 is my favourite bass at the moment so it's going nowhere Andy -
I seem to remember hearing that late 70's P's are known to be on the heavy side, so 4.9kg / 10.8lb doesn't sound too outrageous in that context. My '79 is stashed away right now or I'd get the scales out and weigh it.
Not dissimilar to a Warwick Fortress flashback; Minus the lairy strings and plus some frets etc. etc.
Swap the strings out and I'd take one of those. Ooops no, maybe not, forgot the Warwick headstock. Yeah the other was so close, must have been a far east copy. -
