You can get overdrive by using a pedal if you need to? You may find a full valve amp difficult to come by at $500.

I was thinking about that. Another possibility would be seperate tube preamp/amp like stated above, although
I can't seem to find many tube bass preamps.

Mostly, I'm looking for a tube amp for a Phat Phuk B (booster) to drive, to give more overdrive than on a solid state.

Maybe 150W was a bit hopeful.

You can't do all that at the same time: I suggest asking about a custom unit or looking somewhere else.

Zoom B3 would work nicely with a Phat Phuk B for overdrive.
I don't know anything about synths, ask Shep about those.

I've been looking at rack effects recently.
What do you guys use for the actual rack? Effects switchers? (I assume you
have a small unit on stage and a bunch of trays with the actual pedals and a switcher
in the rack itself)
And most importantly, is it worth it? Considering
cost, complications in all the signal chain stuff, and space, I'm not
sure if it would be worth it... however, lots of people use effects racks
so there [i]must[/i] be a point. I hope.

So tl;dr are rack systems better or worse than actual pedalboards?
