  1. Thanks, I was trying to remember the name! As I recall it got hit by a boat and was either fully or partially rebuilt some years ag, after I moved, but I certainly crossed over the original :)
  2. I need to watch that - I grew up in Twickenham and we'd occasionally run over the old bridge to Eel Pie island. Too young for the club though!
  3. Cool, good to know. I bet the Aguilars sound excellent. And you're right! Now I remember that the generic gold bridge cover I bought would not fit, as it was designed for a BBOT rather than the more substantial Schaller 3D bridge. Cheers and take care
  4. Ah, my old bass 'Goldfinger' originally commisioned from Sandberg in 2014! I used to have gold bell and bridge covers on it, with Optima gold strings to complete the look :) Do you still have the Klopmann PB63 pickup it originally came with Vic? A terrific bass, GLWTS !
  5. Brilliant, thanks very much for taking the time to check and transcribe Joe! I'll use that as a basis for the rest of the song. Much appreciated!
  6. Cheers! According to the book 'Standing in the Shadows of Motown' , producer Gene Page was surpirised he hadn't detuned on 'For once in my life', but apparently he hadn't. May have been something to do with the strong fundamental from the thick E string and hook placement in front of the bell stressing the lower frequencies. He did apparently use a 8-string and 5-string 'on a few rare sessions'.
  7. Chris, many thanks for the tips! I've started a transcription thread here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/420394-james-jamerson-dont-it-drive-you-crazy-transcription/
  8. Right, it's My First Transcription™ , and in fact I'm only two bars in. This is James Jamerson on The Pointer Sisters "Don't It Drive You Crazy" from 1977: A funktastic bassline, and big thanks to @chris_b for suggesting it. In the spirit of Mr Jamerson I've put the La Bella 1954s and foam onto the P, but there's no way I could get close using just my 'hook' - two fingers to that idea ;). But here's my take: Dont it drive you crazy - 15_04_2020, 19.47.mp3 Now to my transcription efforts. I've settled on 84 BPM after various attempts to match a metronome to the beat (I don't know the drumming term for the particular rhythym used) Thus far I'm happy with the pitch of the notes, but struggling to transcribe the note and rest values correctly: I used Sibelius First, any tips on the note values much appreciated! Thanks for looking
  9. Great shouts on Hangin' around @Loz and Bob Weston @Jonesy - both have fantastic grindy snarl (or snarly grind, come to think of it). Will add: Jah Wobble New Mexico Dub, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaJ8aaD50LA World Domination Enterprises Jah Jah Call You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xswCJyfKpQo Bomb the Bass, Bug Powder Dust https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trbvx1U6Ry8
  10. Hi, sorry, not at the moment. Cheers and take care
  11. @chris_b thanks for posting this - I've been working my way through What's Going On using the Standing in the Shadows of Motown transcription and with La Bella 1954 Deep Talkin' Flats on the P, but as soon as I heard this I had to try it out. May need @chrisaxe to help decode the second part of the lick though!
  12. Welcome Chris! BIg fan of Dublin (up the Dubs!) , good to have you on board. Any pics of the Thompson?

I can't think of anything appropriate as a set piece though.  Summat rousing at eight to the bar perhaps?  I'd do sixteenths but I can't sustain them much above 90 bpm.

I was thinking of doing this very thing on Thursday. My nieces have been egging me on on WhatsApp

I too am having trouble thinking of something suitable though. Mr Pink doesn't feel like it would fit the bill somehow

  14. People Say by The Meters. Struggling to transition between the A and D on the first part of the famous bass break, and need to tighten up the second part. May have to up the tension (currently on TI flats) for a bit more resistance!
  15. For sale only, Roland TD1-K v-drums kit. Bought at Christmas for my daughter but she just wants to play keyboard...this has had very light use and is near mint with original packaging and all parts and manual. Save £150 on a new one! UK courier for £15.
  16. Curious indeed! If you take the amp out of the chain, and go bass - drive - interface, does Logix record the effected driven signal?
  17. Here's Brucie!! Bruce Thomas Profile P bass from Bass Centre
