People Say by The Meters. Struggling to transition between the A and D on the first part of the famous bass break, and need to tighten up the second part. May have to up the tension (currently on TI flats) for a bit more resistance!

Curious indeed! If you take the amp out of the chain, and go bass - drive - interface, does Logix record the effected driven signal?

Sounds an excellent challenge, best of luck! Do you get one of these to help turn the score pages?

Just bought a MIcrothumpinator from Paul, as always a friendly, rapid transaction and it arrived the day after payment! Top recommendation

For the record here are pics of mine with a cream guard (looks more white in the pics than it really is). Ignoring the gap below the output and the rough fit at the pups, I really like it!

"I promise I won't noodle over your bass solo" "This one's in G"

3.4 kg ?! That's super-light! I'm on my second (having sold one to @stewblack and then missing it...) and both were at the 4kg mark. No neck dive on those though, maybe because of the extra body weight. Both had the mis-aligned pickup poles, I briefly changed my current one to a cheap cream pickguard that I hacked to fit so that the poles would align, but I couldn't detect any difference in volume or tone. But I may ask Sims to do me a proper cream pickguard now that they have the stock measurements from you! Have you tried your with Bass Centre Stainless Steel Elites (the factory-fitted strings for this model)? It roars with them on A great fun P bass to play, hope you enjoy it as much as I have. PS the fingerboard is maccasar ebony, lovely and dark as you say.

Sean Hurley - great P & flats tone / solo

Also his Fender CS signature model (which he is playing in the clip) has a rocker mute fitted, which presses a strip of stiff foam to the underside of the strings near the bridge. -
Four I enjoy: The Clown - Charles Mingus A Love Supreme - John Coltrane (Jimmy Garrison) Ornette Coleman - New York is Now (also Jimmy Garrison) The Big 3 - Ray Brown
-
Correct (at least for KS, I don't know about F bass).
-
Incidentally, this could result in a 'Kevin Smith' bass, and I would have zero excuse not to buy a bass with my entire name on it
-
@stewblack I fully agree - as you know after selling you your BT Profile I missed it greatly - and soon bought another! My favourite P that I've owned, including custom shops and an original '65. Have you tried it with flats? I love mine with La Bella Fls, but I've heard the The Bass Centre's own Detroit Flats are an excellent match.

Gorgeous 😍 The church band play modern worship material, so I'm hoping to get a gospel workout Covers band are mainly rock/blues. I think I can cop the tone on the KS, I just need to get faster playing a 5!

And presenting: my 2006 5BSREG quilted maple top with walnut core. Not quite a NBD because I've had it a few weeks now. The tone and playability are exactly what I was after, and it sits so well in the lap or strap. Unfortunately I've only gigged it once, when the IEM mix failed and there was only a Marshall 10 inch guitar amp to monitor from! But I could certainly feel the low B-string notes in the venue . I'm looking forward to hearing it properly with the band next time, and it should just need the Radial JDI to FOH and maybe a bit of onboard preamp tweaking as necessary. It also sounds terrific for home practice through the DAW/headphones - no hiss, and very punchy. It came strung with Sadowsky Blue Labels, which sounded very fine indeed, but I noticed that they did not quite sit in the bridge notches. This was affecting the action, so I swapped them for the KS taper cores that were included in the case, and bingo - excellent action and 'that' tone. Super pleased with this, and with my trusty Bruce Thomas Profile as 4-string P bass I honestly think it's the end of GAS after 35 years. And yes, you can have that in writing.

Well spotted Sir! I've been too busy playing it to take pics 😁 I'm delighted with it - playability and tones are amazing. And it has my name on the headstock. Will post pics and a longer write-up in the next few days...

Cheers @LoneFurrow - indeed, it's a different case. The Hiscox was (as they all are) excellent but I needed it to courier a recent sale as it was the only one I had at the time...the current case is absolutely usable though. Xotic used to make a brilliant gigbag but I don't think they sell them anymore, sadly.
