  1. Now only £400 collected as I need to raise funds for incoming equipment! A great price for a decent quality first EUB.
  2. I like to use a ratchet screwdriver when removing a neck, because if the screws are stiff they allow you to put your maximum torque through a short distance (e.g. an 1/8th of a turn) and then return/repeat, whilst maintaining control. In my experience this reduces the risk of gouging the screw head slots. Good luck Mick!
  3. VVT - good question, I'll add that to the description.
  4. I had this up for sale with the gallery, but needed to use it for a gig before Christmas - but I've now converted to 5s so back up for slae (at a lower price!) here
  5. And now even cheaper due to incoming purchase!
  6. Or boost the treble and play in a higher register - I've learned a lot about the dusty end thanks to keyboards!
  7. I've played twice a month in a bapist church for a few years now. Best tips I can think of: see if they use an app like 'Music Stand' iwhich allows you to have the chord sheets in front of you on a tablet (the iPad type, not the Moses type), and make notes be prepared to transpose, which Music Stand can do for you. bring a 5-string if you have one You'll often sit out intro verses, in which case a thunderous sustained low note sounds great when you do come in leave your pedalboard's ego at home and be prepared to go tuner->church DI if the FOH team say they are having problems with something in your signal. It may well be something they are doing wrong, but it's best to just save everyone time and do what they ask. Use IEMs if they are set up for them. Our church resonates at low A, which they can control through the PA but no so well through backline/monitors. Don't overplay but don't be afraid to throw in some runs or dusty-end noodling where appropriate - and have fun! You may also uncover some bass fans in the congregation!
  8. In fact I missed the sound and feel so much I bought another Bruce Thomas! Which, to be fair, also sounds excellent with flats.
  9. Now sold on eBay - @karlfer it's safe to not look again...
  10. Now on eBay but I'd much rather sell on BC - so happy to take a near offer
  11. For sale: Fender Jazz, now £600 inc. UK courier Made in Japan circa 1984-1987 going by the serial number. Original sales thread here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/376161-fender-jazz-sold/?tab=comments#comment-3904602 Payment by BACS or PayPal with fees paid. Or try it here in Tonbridge, Kent (15 mins from J5 M25) Cheers! Kev
  12. Need to make room for incoming, so final drop to £625 for this weekend before it's on eBay...
  13. I was in Bass Gallery yesterday and they kindly let me have a noodle on this NYC: https://thebassgallery.com/collections/all/products/sadowsky-nyc-5-21-standard-21 The good news was that the 19mm string spacing felt very natural and the whole build quality was superb. The bad news was that the 19mm string spacing felt very natural and the whole build quality was superb, and now I can't stop thinking about it...
  14. This thread has well and truly opened the GAS pipeline - I'd be interested to hear thoughts on J vs P/J for a Sadowsky 5 string from those with experience of both configurations. Thanks!
  15. Now reduced to £600 - an excellent value first time EUB
  16. Now reduced to £650
  17. Very interesting, thanks for the write-up. I have a Behringer DI and a Noble and can't tell a huge difference at home volumes or into the DAW , but live I get a much cleaner in-ear feed and less FOH interference with the Noble (plus I love the tone). Whether I love it 40x as much of course is a different question! Hope the arm is better, looks like mine after my goal stints at 5-a-side!
  18. Open to offers bump!
  19. Wow that's a beaut! What's the weight please?
  20. I was accidentally sacked from my job as a rockabiily drummer once. All I said was "I'm not standing for this anymore..."
  21. Form an orderly cue! Love the tone palette on these Emperors, those Duncan dual-coils are superb. GLWTS!
  22. My one experience of this a few years ago: set finishes, I'm packing up the monitors, audience member approaches stage with a smile - 'Wow, you sounded GREAT. All those notes were clear and funky. Really drove the songs along, I danced all night!"", she says. "Why thank you!" blushes myself (Pause)..."So how long have you been playing sax?"
