  1. Need to make room for incoming, so final drop to £625 for this weekend before it's on eBay...
  2. I was in Bass Gallery yesterday and they kindly let me have a noodle on this NYC: https://thebassgallery.com/collections/all/products/sadowsky-nyc-5-21-standard-21 The good news was that the 19mm string spacing felt very natural and the whole build quality was superb. The bad news was that the 19mm string spacing felt very natural and the whole build quality was superb, and now I can't stop thinking about it...
  3. This thread has well and truly opened the GAS pipeline - I'd be interested to hear thoughts on J vs P/J for a Sadowsky 5 string from those with experience of both configurations. Thanks!
  4. Now reduced to £600 - an excellent value first time EUB
  5. Very interesting, thanks for the write-up. I have a Behringer DI and a Noble and can't tell a huge difference at home volumes or into the DAW , but live I get a much cleaner in-ear feed and less FOH interference with the Noble (plus I love the tone). Whether I love it 40x as much of course is a different question! Hope the arm is better, looks like mine after my goal stints at 5-a-side!
  6. Wow that's a beaut! What's the weight please?
  7. I was accidentally sacked from my job as a rockabiily drummer once. All I said was "I'm not standing for this anymore..."
  8. Form an orderly cue! Love the tone palette on these Emperors, those Duncan dual-coils are superb. GLWTS!
  9. My one experience of this a few years ago: set finishes, I'm packing up the monitors, audience member approaches stage with a smile - 'Wow, you sounded GREAT. All those notes were clear and funky. Really drove the songs along, I danced all night!"", she says. "Why thank you!" blushes myself (Pause)..."So how long have you been playing sax?"
  10. Love that top grain @ead ! Seems to flow around the pickups
  11. I've had an amp and cab insured through New Moon.
  12. +1 for New Moon, very friendly and forgiving of my frequent calls to change the basses I own and insure!
  13. Thanks, that's good to know! As it's my first EUB I wasn't sure exactly how much of a problem it is. Certainly seems to operate at home with the nut as it is but I agree any prospective purchaser would want the nut fixed in the long run. Lovely tone and playability
  14. For sale only: MK Studio passive EUB £800 £400 collected. Big price drop and a great bargain for a first-time EUB player or as a backup! Overall seems in good playing condition. The seller could not tell me the year but I suspect it's one of MK's earlier builds due to the position of the logo. He claims it is a Studio passive, http://www.contrabbassielettricimk.com/en/studio.html There are some 'intonation' stickers on the side of the fingerboard which can be easily peeled off. Key issue is the nut: I bought the bass secondhand from Reverb, and it arrived with a cardboard shim behind the nut. It seems stable, and I've not had any problems with it - but best to be aware of it upfront! Piezo bridge and tuning board: Neck is pear wood. FIngerboard is ebony and in very good condition: Retractable endpost works fine but is scratched and has some rust: The bag fits the bass, endpost, tripod. But note that the pouch nearest the main bag has come loose and is hence open all the time. The main bag itself (for the bass) zips fine. Reason for sale: having just started electric lessons, I really need to focus on electric bass and not upright! I have enjoyed playing this but have no band where it would fit at the moment. Collection: Tonbridge, Kent, 15 mins J5 M25. I strongly recommend a try out as I'm no EUB expert and want to be sure you're happy with it. Cheers! Kevin
  15. Tech 21 VT bass in original metal box plus manual. Owned from new, fully working, minor scuff as per second picture. £140. Can post for £5 UK Cheers!
  16. Bought a fantastic MIJ Jazz from Walshy - excellent communications, very fast delivery, very well packaged, and some extra strings! A credit to Basschat - cheers Paul!
  17. Hi Corto (Maltese!), What bass do you use? Neck profile or nut width may be a factor. What gauge of strings? Do you notice this more at the first 5 frets? Do you shift your fretting hand or lock it to 'one finger per fret'?
  18. I'll buy it as long as you guarantee I don't need to grow a ginger beard...unless that's the secret technique I've been missing all these years?!
  19. Similar for me - a square of soft foam folded in half, tucked right up to the protruding screw ends of the bridge saddles. Tried it tonight on only E and A , lwhich helps kill some unwanted rumble and lets D and G ring out. Works well to my ears with the La Bella light flats!
  20. Yes - it's a rocker mute, from the Fender Jaguar. It firmly presses the rubber foam against the bottom of the strings when lifted. You can still find the Fender part and install it to any bass, e.g. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/installing-a-jaguar-mute-on-a-p-bass.1021488/
