  1. Yes good point! I'll measure in the morning - the product page is a bit scant on details: https://www.public-peace.de/maruszczyk-instruments/mi-amplification/barabass-2
  2. Brilliant pics, looked like a great night. Also good work on the scissor jump - especially near the stage edge!

  4. For sale only: Maruszczyk Basstank 400w doubling amp Two-channel preamp 400w solid state bass head. Proper hefty transformers to deliver heft in spades! Power: 400Watt RMS/4Ohm Weight 8.5kg Width 40cm, depth 27 cm, height 14 cm Preamp Electric Channel: Active/Passive Input, Invert Phase, Treble, Lo-Mid, Hi-Mid, Bass, Presence, Contour, Bottom Preamp Acoustic Channel: Mic/Jack Input, Invert Phase, Treble, Lo-Mid, Hi-Mid, Bass Purchased from Happy Jack of this parish. Main selling point is the ability to amplify both electric bass and a double bass mic. But it also sounds great with a Wal (and I assume ACG customs) - connect the Wal's XLR out to channel 2 XLR in, the Wal's jack out to channel 1 and have fun blending the two EQs! Comes with carry case and speakon. Price includes UK courier, or I'm based in Tonbridge, Kent. Only selling because I'm scaling down to a smaller band and super-lightweight...
  5. I sold Stew a Bruce Thomas P bass - a very pleasant transaction! Stew was fast to communicate and pay, and let me the know the bass had arrived safely. Thanks again Stew, highly recommended Kev

  8. For sale only, Bass Centre Bruce Thomas profile P bass, gigbag and bag candy. £350 inc. UK courier Full working order. Don't forget that NBD thread... with photos, of course
I was really tempted by a medium scale Jake a few years back on here.
These days, given my advancing years, I now realise the importance of lightweight basses ;)

  11. Price drop to £125 inc UK courier. Please note: I can't get the XLR *input* to work, see https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/310428-trace-elliot-gp11-xlr-input/?tab=comments#comment-3354396 , but the regular jack input works fine.
  12. Certainly my Squier Bronco ticks those boxes, and is a fun bedroom bass! It's a good list because it allows you to build on it, adding those personal/situational preferences: e.g. I've added my personal 'must haves' for a gigging/recording bass in italics - and probably add well-dressed frets, no neck-dive, and a weight that I can bear for a set too.
  13. Slot load bridge BUT with a simple press-latch mechanism over the saddle so that the ballend can't pop out when you start installing a new string (not sure if such a beast exists though) Well-shielded electronics Satin neck (no gloopy gloss) Fretboard on both sides of the neck and pups on both sides of the body. One side has rounds, one has flats, and each side can have different pups/preamps. Of course this requires an inflatable belly guard (bit like the Gretsch White Falcon), and fingerless gardening gloves in the case candy, so the strings on the side you are not playing can't hurt you...
  14. Excellent stuff! This is worth a look too, solo take on the song with a '68 4001
  15. That's a great pic, because (1) it's gorgeous and (2) it shows well the sleeker contours and depth for the special. Cheers!
  16. Assuming you are gigging venues without PA support, I'd suggest either a fundraiser or mates-only gig down the local. Either ask someone you trust to move around and listen to you from various points, or get a long lead/wireless and get into the audience for one of the numbers. Don't play too well whilst doing this of course, or the crowd will grab and shoulder surf you around, before accidentally dropping you in the Sahara nuts cabinet. 'Loud enough' means you can hear yourself, the band can hear you, and the audience can hear the band (and distinguish the instruments/vocals) ideally from any point in the room. Any of these may involve reducing the volume of other instruments. Clarity wins over volume wars.
  17. Very nice! Thanks for the tip, and that's a decent price compared to the Lollars/Fralins.
  18. Many thanks for your advice - I have the strings following the radius; as it's a J I can't lower the G E ends of the pup without lowering the whole thing. This Lollar J set seems to have lowered G and E poles, but they are the standard set (i.e. for regular radii) - I'll mail and ask about suitability for 7.25" https://www.thomann.de/gb/lollar_j_bass_4s.htm
  19. I have a lovely CIJ 62-75US Jazz but would like to try some different pickups. I've seen some makers (e.g. Lindy Fralin) offer staggered D and A poles that claim more even output across strings for fingerboards with a sharper radius (7.25 in this case); does anyone have any experience of the difference between these and regular flat pole? Many thanks!
