How do we get rid of the 'Privacy' tab that's now appeared??

I have the Ghostery Safari extension (macOS) and app (iOS) installed, which removes the privacy floating tab and all adverts. -

Almost GAS free - settled with my bass, amp, cab and DB: only GAS now is for DB gut strings…

Another super-smooth transaction with Paul for my Quilter, as always a pleasure!

NOW £200 POSTED IN UK Tronographic Rusty Box bass preamp Owned from new, ungigged, unmarked and less than an hour home noodling. Nails the Bob Weston tone to my ears, even with a P bass (no aluminium required!) Only selling as I’m focusing on double bass, although I should probably try bowing through the Rusty Box once… Price includes UK tracked postage and accounts for the import fees incurred on original purchase. Payment by BACS or PayPal. Collection also fine (20 mins from J5 M25) for £10 less. No trades or offers thanks Cheers! Kev

EBS Stanley Clarke preamp in excellent condition. Fully working and with original box, PSU and manual. Only used for a bit of home practice blending a DPA mic and bridge piezo - does a fantastic job of taming feedback with LPF and notch options, and you can run both channel strips in parallel (two inputs) or in series for one input. Plus EQ, phase, phantom power, speaker sim options, XLR and TRS inputs/outputs - and as many have written here great for doubling with electric. Only selling as I’ve just bought an Acoustic Image Clarus S4 to go with my AI DoubleShot which has many of the same features. Payment by BACS or PayPal - price includes UK tracked postage. Collection also fine for £10 less, 20 mins from J5 M25. Feedback link in my signature. Cheers Kev

Quilter Bass Block 800 including Quilter bag, manual and UK power lead. Owned from new and used on around 20 gigs. Terrific head with quick and easy tone shaping, 450w@8 Ohms, 800w@4 Ohms and packs quite a punch without clipping! Only selling as I’m now focusing on double bass and have an Acoustic Image Clarus/Doubleshot which should be adequate cover for the odd electric gig. Full working order. Cosmetically good condition, the odd light scratch per photos. Manual has a couple of tears to the back cover but is complete. Note the power plug is included (as is the original USA power cord with a locking interface, in case that can be repurposed on a UK cord), but there is no Speakon cable included. Payment by BACS, or I can issue a PayPal invoice but will add the PayPal fees. Price includes UK tracked delivery, in the original Quilter shipping box. I’ll knock off £15 for collection (about 20 mins from J5 M25). Feedback link in my signature. Cheers! Kev

I found the remains of a piano buried in our garden some years back - the metal frame was taken by a rag'n'bone man who said buried pianos are more common than you'd think!

Sad to hear of Rick Jones’ passing, I’m very pleased with my AI doubleshot and was wondering why Thomson no longer stocked the AI heads I was browsing for. Good to hear the schematics are intended for release.

Hervé Jeanne's terrific "string matrix" site can help, at least with comparing tones...or send you (like me) into an unending loop of comparison-madness: https://www.hervejeanne.de/en/string-matrix

(Now sold elsewhere ) In full working condition with minor cosmetic nicks & scuffs as per photos. Superb limiter/compressor with lots of flexibility (including internal jumper switch configurations). See the video for a great comparison with the Origin Effects Compact Bass. Acquired on Reverb recently but need to move it on to help pay for a new bike! Price includes UK tracked postage. For sale only, sorry no trades...

I hadn't heard that version (possibly put off by Ferry's 'tache on the cover) - but as its my favourite song by anyone I just listened...loved it, an unexpected rework (😁) that sounds like the original in the style of In every dream home a heartache. Thanks for the tip Mick! I'm a big fan of the bass on all the early albums, Country Life has some cracking basslines from JG (Song for Europe, Mother of Pearl...)

I just bought a gorgeous AVRI 63 P from Rob - excellent and rapid communication, very accommodating to my request for courier collection /delivery, and more than enough packaging to withstand a journey the length of the country! Much appreciated, many thanks Rob :)

Another glowing recommendation to add to the list! Jason bought and collected my Fender P - fast payment, great comms throughout and a good banter on all things bass. Cheers!

**ON HOLD** Fender Player Precision Tidepool Blue, near mint - *SOLD*

For sale only (no trades) Fender Player Precision in Tidepool Blue £550. Bought recently as backup but incoming premium P means it has to make way! Will miss the amazing colour, being a huge fan of blue basses (and the Mediterranean ;)). Looks fab with the maple fingerboard. Condition: Near mint. Has only left the house once for a worship set, probably less than 2 hours total playtime. Still has film protector on neckplate and pickguard. I can't find any marks/scratches/dings or other synoyms. Measurements: Nut: 1.625" (41.3 mm) Neck shape: modern "C" Radius: 9.5" (241 mm) Frets: 20 Weight: 3.7kg Delivery: these don"t come with a bag, but I have the double-box that Andertons sent it in. UK postage only though for that reason. I use Parcelforce as their depot is nearby, and can get a quote for any interested buyers (est. £15-20 for next day service). Collection: about 20 mins from M25 J5 near Tonbridge, Kent. The kettle is not always on - that would be both a terrible waste of energy and a fire hazard - but very happy to brew up on artival... Definite fettling: all new screwholes and had to reshape the 'collar' of the pickguard where it meets the neck butt. But the pickups were aligned...at least until I changed my mind and put the old guard back on! Welcome Marsh and sorry to hear about the spinal injury, best wishes on that. I've gigged my BT for years and love it, especially the satin neck and ebony board (which I only recently realised is a slab profile!). Powerful growl and thump from the pickups, I've never felt a need to change them. Works beautifully with the stock Elite roundwounds and La Bella flats. Enjoy!

Rick Rubin calls Paul McCartney the number one bassist of all time
Kevsy71 replied to lidl e's topic in General Discussion
A valid 'best of all time' list can only appear after time itself has ended. Which is a shame as nobody will have time to write it then. -
@henrywillard apologies for responding a mere two years later! PM sent and thanks for your reply

@Owen , this has helped me for remote jamming in Zoom so may help in your situation - in Zoom settings: - Set "Suppress background noise to "Low" - Check the option "Show in-meeting option to enable "Original Sound" - Check the option "High-fidelity music mode" - Check the option "Stereo audio"

Very informative (and not just about recording!), thanks for posting. Having started playing double bass earlier this year I've recently started home recording, with a bridge-mounted DPA 4099 condenser. I like the mid/upper response but will add my SM57 in the 'low' position you demonstrated to boost the low end. The room itself seems critical too, my 3m x 3m square office is not ideal so I'll take the db for a walk around the house and see what different tones that results in. Thanks again!

@dmc79 do you DI into the church PA? If so it's possible there's a compressor that can be applied to your channel at the mixing desk - may be worth checking. I've used Keeley and Markbass compressors before for non-PA situations for the reasons you give above.

That control panel!! Along with the cannon connector, abalone inlays and tailpiece there's a lot of Alembic influence there (probably no surprise given the original owner).
