  2. Price drop to £125 inc UK courier. Please note: I can't get the XLR *input* to work, see https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/310428-trace-elliot-gp11-xlr-input/?tab=comments#comment-3354396 , but the regular jack input works fine.
  3. Certainly my Squier Bronco ticks those boxes, and is a fun bedroom bass! It's a good list because it allows you to build on it, adding those personal/situational preferences: e.g. I've added my personal 'must haves' for a gigging/recording bass in italics - and probably add well-dressed frets, no neck-dive, and a weight that I can bear for a set too.
  4. Slot load bridge BUT with a simple press-latch mechanism over the saddle so that the ballend can't pop out when you start installing a new string (not sure if such a beast exists though) Well-shielded electronics Satin neck (no gloopy gloss) Fretboard on both sides of the neck and pups on both sides of the body. One side has rounds, one has flats, and each side can have different pups/preamps. Of course this requires an inflatable belly guard (bit like the Gretsch White Falcon), and fingerless gardening gloves in the case candy, so the strings on the side you are not playing can't hurt you...
  5. Lovely! Where are you based..?
  6. Excellent stuff! This is worth a look too, solo take on the song with a '68 4001
  7. That's a great pic, because (1) it's gorgeous and (2) it shows well the sleeker contours and depth for the special. Cheers!
  8. It's a beauty deedee! What's the weight?
  9. Assuming you are gigging venues without PA support, I'd suggest either a fundraiser or mates-only gig down the local. Either ask someone you trust to move around and listen to you from various points, or get a long lead/wireless and get into the audience for one of the numbers. Don't play too well whilst doing this of course, or the crowd will grab and shoulder surf you around, before accidentally dropping you in the Sahara nuts cabinet. 'Loud enough' means you can hear yourself, the band can hear you, and the audience can hear the band (and distinguish the instruments/vocals) ideally from any point in the room. Any of these may involve reducing the volume of other instruments. Clarity wins over volume wars.
  10. Very nice! Thanks for the tip, and that's a decent price compared to the Lollars/Fralins.
  11. Many thanks for your advice - I have the strings following the radius; as it's a J I can't lower the G E ends of the pup without lowering the whole thing. This Lollar J set seems to have lowered G and E poles, but they are the standard set (i.e. for regular radii) - I'll mail and ask about suitability for 7.25" https://www.thomann.de/gb/lollar_j_bass_4s.htm
  12. I have a lovely CIJ 62-75US Jazz but would like to try some different pickups. I've seen some makers (e.g. Lindy Fralin) offer staggered D and A poles that claim more even output across strings for fingerboards with a sharper radius (7.25 in this case); does anyone have any experience of the difference between these and regular flat pole? Many thanks!
  13. Brilliant, thanks very much. I've watched some YT playthroughs but all the tabs are tiny. Where he breaks out of the sixteenths at the end of bar 20...I'm trying to play the D# 's on the A string, as otherwise I find it a big reach and not hitting the notes properly. Or maybe I should work more on stretching, as I've not got small hands... And if that was your video from Brixton, then I was about ten yards from you!
  14. Absolutely superb, and really good fun - a rare combo in a gig these days! @hiram.k.hackenbacker thanks for posting the Dean Town video: both my son and I were there and are learning to play it, so I'll be trying to glean some tips
  15. Still buzzing from Vulfpeck live last night - and yes, Joe was playing the new EBMM to within an inch of its life! Amazing band!

  16. My word. Wonderful woodwork, Haussels sound ace, and 32 is just the right scale for my mitts! Must be back-friendly too with a chambered body.
  17. I enjoyed that, thanks for posting! Good song, tight pocket , and impressive to sing over a complex bassline - well beyond me

  19. greenboy Dually cab with 2 x Faital 15PR400 speakers, tiltback handle + casters + skid rails. Fully working. Built March 2016 by Guy at Tricky Audio, excellent build quality. Cosmetically there are some amp feet marks on the top, caster wheels are scuffed but not damaged. A few of the grille holes have a residue mark, possibly a small liquid spray or spill. See photos, I'll try and get it off before sale. Spare touch-up paint included. Amazing cab that, due to a change of band, is far too much for my current needs - I would love to swap it for a greenboy F112 if anyone is in the reverse situation Comes with a Roqsolid cover with side handle cutouts. There is no cutout for the top handle, but you can easily grab it when the cover on for rolling. Collection only unless I see a washing machine box in the neighbour's recycling... TRADES considered; - greenboy F112 - Barefaced Big Baby 2 - Markbass Traveller 123 Location: Tonbridge, Kent, 20 mins J5 M25 Feedback in my signature, thanks for looking
  20. To be fair, the *only* homeowners that should be throwing stones are those that live in beach huts and have the door open...
  21. Very bothered - even when I'm just on the home DAW. For our only EP I practiced flat out for two weeks before. Made one blatant mistake on the day; a fumble of a fast 8-note lick that I got right for the other 39 bars it featured. Couldn't get back to re-record it but was not too ashamed at having it copy-and-pasted for that one glitch. Very pleased with the recorded tone too, again a lot of tweaking leading up to the recording during the band practices.
  22. Hooray! Very glad it's back in the Basschat fold. Such a versatile bass and amazing to look at too
