  1. Fixed, looks like there was a minor update to the article the next day, and as a result their date-based URL changed. Gotta love content management systems
  2. Gorgeous, especially that neck wear! GLWTS, where are you based?
  3. Wouldn't work. I assume he dominates all of stage left, which is where I set up...
  4. Seems genuine: the article claims that "MIN has learned that Future Publishing’s Bass Guitar Magazine is to be merged with its newly acquired US title Bass Player." Visit each website and click subscribe, and in each case you will be taken to MyFavouriteMagazines.co.uk, "the official magazine subscription store of Future Publishing".
  5. http://www.musicinstrumentnews.co.uk/2018/08/30/bass-guitar-magazine-to-merge-in-fresh-blow-to-print/ Been a while since I picked up either print copy tbh, but the best of both in one could well be worth it, especially for the tutorials.
  6. I love the Bruce Thomas Profile bass from Bass Centre: excellent pickup, very smooth neck finish and the perfect nut width/neck profile for my hands (between a vintage P and J). Only comes in one colour though! Secondhand Fender MIMs are often excellent value and nice and light.
  7. Botheration!!!! Sod's Law once more - after last year's Rescheduled Mother-In-Law's Birthday Party™ , this year it's Once in a Decade Visit From Far Flung Relatives™ . Gutted to miss you all again - although at least it means you won't need the Deaf Tone Test, whereby I play and you all try and get out of earshot as quickly as possible. Have a great time!
  8. Very strange. "Timewasting" would agreeing to meet up and then not showing. Whereas photos, provenance and descriptions are useful for any potential buyer, and don't need to be redone each time. I can't understand the seller attitude there. Looks an amazing bass though - I can't recall seeing a reverse split P at the neck before.
  9. Now on sale elsewhere...thanks for all the kind comments
  10. Sadly few nibbles, so a final bump before I put it up for sale elsewhere tomorrow.
  11. Yes, I was the original owner and sadly had to sell (on BC of course!) when I needed funds to complete an extension... this was my sales listing at the time: Gorgeous player, those MCs are amazing... sorely tempted to try and get it back!
  12. Yeah, sorry to hear that - it's happened to me once or twice but not with UPS. As with spongebob I've only had good experience with UPS/Interparcel (over 10 or so bass transactions)
  13. Thanks for posting these Y is the most refined to my ears, VM would cut through nicely (no surprise), AN has a nice growl. All decent tones to be honest!
  14. I had one on an MM Reflex - so easy to fine tune the action, the lowest I've managed on any bass thus far...
  15. The Ox's menacing bass breaks in My Generation; Roger Glover's demented banshee howl in Fireball; and Lemmy's restarts in Overkill, have given me thrills and chills for over 30 years. But Cliff Burton's solo in Orion (also the intro) is for me, perfect.
  16. Just fixed my old Fender Rumble 150! Had to swap the input socket for the headphone socket because I couldn't source a new one...and use A500K pots because I couldn't find the exact A250Ks needed. A doddle to solder, but a nightmare to get the head back in the cab....!

  17. Played a scorching beer festival set last week with the Bruce Thomas Profile - very slight tuning adjustment, but it was the neck finish that saved the day. No tackiness at all despite the near 30° heat! Love it.
  18. Lots of nibbles but no bites bump...
  19. I sold Tom an Ampeg V4B from the UK to the Czech Republic. The whole transaction was very straightforward, Tom kept in communication the whole time, paid and arranged the courier to pick up from me. A recommended international buyer, welcome to Basschat Tom
  20. Oops well spotted 😁 I'll have a word...I really hope it's a typo and not a homebrew tribute!
  21. Both my and my son's bands are on the bill for this Saturday at the Hildenborough 'Party in our Park', near Tonbridge in Kent. In aid of the Scouts, with a proper stage and PA from a team who do the major festivals! The last two years have been a great family day out, with beers, BBQ, bouncy castle (hopefully not in that order). Say hi if you come along, I'm on last with the Expändables, with the first major outing for my Bruce Thomas Profile bass
