    I awoke from surgery once in a darkened room, to a deep voice saying "it didn't work". They actually meant the surgery hadn't gone ahead due to a technical fault, but my first thought was "I'm dead, and this is heaven". My second was , "Now, where do they keep the original '57 Ps...?"

    You need to able to hear yourself and the other and members; the other band members need to be able to hear you; and the audience need a balanced mix and not a wall of indistinguishable noise. If your drummer has an acoustic kit then they need to be aware of this too (per comments above) and not start the volume wars. Turn down the noisy instruments, don't turn up the quiet ones, and vocals are king. Unless you're all going In-Ear Monitors with DI only for the PA, then a 2x10 (Ampeg SVT-CL micro) or 1x15 (Fender Rumble) combo has always worked fine for me in pubs.

    On the off-chance you can trial one, the greenboy Fearless F112 and F115 were reputedly designed with low F# in mind. Review of the F112 from Ed Friedland here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-YUbQyK5Ls ; I have a Fearless Dually (2x15) built by Tricky Audio, excellent build quality!

    Thanks! I'll use the WA87 to mic the cab, and see if the other condenser (the cheap one) can pick up anything useful as a room mic.

    Thanks Dad - Correct. Cheers for the tips, I'll give that a go later this week and also see (hear) if there is a difference between micing the upper or lower speaker - I'm guessing the lower will have more lows due to being closer to this floor. Much appreciated, I'll post the results!

    Perfect beginner fretless these, GLWTS @Marc S in my experience no - tried both a Vintage fretted and fretless neck on a MIM P and my Limelight, and the neck pocket was too large for it in all cases. So I think the Fender neck would be too large for the Vintage pocket.

    Indeed, that's what I was doing on my Mac before making it a lot simpler with a Scarlett 2i2. Much easier; my playing, however, remains ropey at best
