  1. Apologies, I completely missed your question! CS: 43mm, 9.5" radius, oval C Limelight: 41mm, 9.5" radius, and what I think is a 'U' shape - certainly fuller in the hand, but still very playable given the smaller nut and lovely rolled edges.
  2. These are amazing tone machines, I had loads of fun pre-programming the coils for a set of quick-select gig tones. And you can get an incredibly low action on the superfast neck! Would be very tempted to have one again but only after 5 strings at the mo... GLWTS Karl
  3. Old Fender Rumble 150 that I painted surf green and added a top handle to. Cost me £100, the volume pot is shot and not too easy to replace so I just play through the effects return with a Tech21 VT. Has been my rehearsal and pubs amp for years, even used with a low pass filter as a kick drum amp a few times, love it to bits
  4. For sale: Ampeg V4-B £750, Can courier at cost within UK In excellent cosmetic condition and full working order. Bought new 3 months ago and gigged once, where it performed a sterling job through my Greenboy Dually. Turn master volume to full and edge up the gain for gorgeous creamy power tube breakup. Includes original box, manual, and I've added a jack to Speakon lead. Oh, and it's all valve and iron, but a manageable one-hand lift (41 pounds). I will also include a RAT amps load box and lead which lets you tap the speaker out of the V4-B for a lovely recording signal (which is post-power amp). This is really useful because the V4-B's DI level is aligned to the master volume - so the RAT allows 'silent recording' with no speaker connected. It also gives you a headphone out. Can courier to UK only. Available for trial in Tonbridge, Kent. Cheers! Kev
  5. Terrible gig last weekend: I was recovering from actual-not-man-flu and had not picked up the bass, or in fact left the house, in 5 days. Got to watch my son's band first who were brilliant, and he's already a better bass player than me so proud father . Then a quick break and we're on, for a 90 minute set - when in fact standing without a bass for 90 minutes would have been a major challenge. As usual, we played at battle tempo, and I badly cramped my left forearm and then hand after about 30 minutes. Luckily we had a break and one of the bar staff had asked to play for a couple of songs, and I was grateful for the chance to recover. Hand and arm now back at full power, we belted out another five and I was really enjoying myself - when up comes the barman to ask us to stop mid-song! Noise complaint...? No - one of the staff had had a stroke!!! Cue a very fast tear down of the PA and kit as paramedics arrived and the pub cleared. Thankfully we found out a few days later that the patient had been discharged, and in fact we're going back there next month, when I'm hoping history will not repeat itself...
  6. "The bass guitarist: The whole room is filled with power. Your power, pure power. Without you, the core of the song is gone. They need you and you know it." Has anyone quoted this to successfully negotiate a bigger cut of the band fee? Will try tonight at the Dog & Duck and report back.
  7. Beauty - I have a 2016 Faded Surf Green Custom Shop P with the best neck I've played and excellent electronics, I bet yours is superb! Are those LaBellas flats or D'Addario Chromes (or others) that you've strung it with...?

Beauty! How are you finding the neck shape..?
  9. Just to say the Stratosphere are US based - whilst I was happy with the Fender MIJ neck they sent me and the shipping time, you will need to account for customs (ouch!).
  10. Thanks so much for the early announcement and setup work Hamster ! Very much looking forward to meeting many more BCers
  11. Any idea if that's him playing on After Midnight Chris? Fantastic, bubbling line; learning it at the moment! And thanks for the Chuck Rainey links everyone, I now have some very pleasant homework to catch up on..
  12. I mainly work from home and they live right behind me in my compact and bijou office/man-cavelet.
  13. Not that I can see - possibly covered in the refinish and/or the copper shielding of the pickup cavity. Routing should be visible in the Flickr album, but let me know if you need any more pics.

Thanks for reminding me of Rosicrucians.  I thought they'd all gone.

  14. Ah my mistake - I thought it was posted as an Original 60s with another guard option from Fender. Agreed, it really goes beautifully with the LPB!
  15. I think that's the Standard MIM, because it doesn't appear to have the clay dot markers . My preferred guard colour for a blue bass though
  16. Fully agree - especially with sax, keys and harmonica in our mob.
  17. Odd how 'Original 60s' means '63 C neck shape, and 44mm nut but a fingerboard radius of 9.5" rather than 7.25". I suppose calling them '60s-ish' is less marketable...
  18. Marco bought my Wal MK I - he paid quickly, arranged the courier himself, and kept good communication throughout. Thank you for an easy transaction Marco - a recommened buyer
  19. For sale only: Fender Precision bass, 1964 original with refinish, £3500 Location: Tonbridge, Kent Original neck, has been resprayed Recently refretted Original pickups Original pots Original pickguard, with additional (lovely!) Spitfire tort guard Original nut Original pickup cover, new non-original bridge cover Body refinished in Fiesta Red Non-original Hickox case with some scuffing but works fine. See below for full description Full hi-res Flickr album of 29 photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/133089969@N07/albums/72157691387686154/with/27739975739/ Only recently acquired this from Chris of this parish, but try as I may I just can't get on with a 7.25 radius, possibly due to my inherent finger inflexibility! A real shame because it sounds superb and looks terrific: dark Brazilian rosewood board, clay dots, and either the original pickguard or the beautiful tort one Chris sourced (which is included in the sale). An excellent "players' pre-CBS", but I'm very happy with my 9.5 radius custom shop '64' so will move this on at the price I bought it for - it deserves to be played! Nut is 1.75" The original sales thread, and a photo with the included tort guard which I hope Chris doesn't mind me linking to, is here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/313595-fender-precision-1964/ . Since acquiring it I have not gigged it, and have changed the strings to a slightly higher gauge of D'Addario Chrome flats (50-105) to better match the 60s nut, and added a new bridge cover (the original holes were visible beneath the refin, and I measured carefully). I've done a basic setup using a 7.25 radius gauge, and set the Fender-recommended relief and pickup height settings for the period with a StewMac ruler. Truss rod moves freely in both directions. I'm based in Tonbridge, Kent, 20 mins from J5 M25, and you're very welcome to come try it out. My feedback is here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/235157-kevsy71/ Cheers! Kevin
