Not too bad a price if you dig the colour - and can handle the serial number!
Cheers Chris, I hadn't heard that one! Much appreciated for the video and the breakdown. My goal next year is sight reading, and I'll certainly be looking through your Jamerson transcriptions.
Because if a Speakon is fit for purpose, but 1/4" less so, then it makes me think the 1/4" is there for cost savings (the pricier SVT VR has Speakon out). But I'm happy if (as Dan Dare says above) I just need to make sure the connection is secure and won't get knocked out mid-gig.
Bug Powder Dust. Yes, I know the bassline is lifted/tweaked from 'open your eyes you can fly', but both Doug's clean verse line and 'space bass' chorus are incredible.
Cheers! It is indeed a Limelight, you can see more here:
Compared to the CS:
- both relic jobs are excellent. The Limelight has been aged more, with lovely detailing around the metalwork and fingerboard. The CS has a gorgeous cracked-nitro effect.
- I prefer the lighter body and the amazing neck/fingerboard on the CS. This is where this CS excels..the Limelight is not very heavy though and there are no problems with the neck/fingerboard, I just prefer the CS
- both the Limelight and CS pickups are absolutely superb!
Beauty!!! Love that original meaty pup, looks the ideal placement too. If I ever play in a rock band (rather than blues/soul) I'll be after one of these for sure.
Delighted with this Fender Custom Shop '62 relic: faded surf green, lovely reliced nitro, clay dots, anodized gold pickguard - and the best neck I've ever played! Growls and thumps beautifully. Here are the dealer pics; I'll get some more of my own up later.
It doesn't matter as long as there's an umlaut. My lot are The Expändables
The umlaut means we're the only band of that name spelled that way. It also means you can pronounce it 'expandable' (in relation to our waistlines) or 'expendable'(because not all 7 members can make every gig)
Could also have æ in there, to be fair...
Cheers for the link! Note that not all pre-CBS have 'L' prefixes for the serial though.
I've finally found my perfect P after owning six. For me the important attributes are (in order):
1. Neck/fretboard playability (tricky to amend if not right 'out of the box')
2. Frets (can be dressed if needed)
3. Weight (may be more important if you have long gigs, shoulder/back issues)
4. Electronics (can be swapped out)
5. Look (probably higher, who am I kidding :))
6. Resaleability (allows you to 'buy blind')
In short, try as many as you can. If buying blind, then buying from basschat means it's unlikely to be a dog and you can resell here if it's not your cup of tea.
Tech - live setup, mixing, equipment, home recording, electrocution avoidance.
Marketing - band logo, gig posters
Music - songwriting (albeit just three)
Parked next to hi-hat for whole gig with a big grin, enjoying the soloists
