1. Have any V4-B reissue owners found a decent flight case for it? So far I've only found the Thon SVT case, which is too big, and Castle Case's V4 does not fit the reissue apparently. Any tips welcome!
2. Still on hold but I'll keep the thread updated of any changes.
3. For sale only: 1985 Wal MK I Spec: 4-string olive ash facings, Brazilian mahogany core, Indian rosewood fretboard, with original case. Price: £4200 Excellent cosmetic condition, no major marks, there is some rubbing off of the varnish on the back from playing. Lots more hi-res photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/133089969@N07/albums/72157688924791651/with/24790981248/ Weight is 10 lbs 6 oz / 4.6 kg Full working order, sounds superb epecially with the new DR Hi Beam 45-105 roundwounds I added. Case works fine, some scratches but all locks and handle work. I'm the second owner having purchased from the original owner in person a few months ago. His original 1985 Bass Centre receipt, matching the serial number, is included. And there's an original Bass Centre sticker on rear of headstock Selling because I've recently acquired a '64 P from a fellow Basschatter and unfortunately can't justify two high value basses! Price is firm because (for better or worse) that's what I paid. Payment: BACS transfer or cash. Feedback in my signature. Trial/collection: Tonbridge, Kent, approx. 20 mins J5 M25. Thanks for looking! Kev
4. Thanks everyone, great tips. I've opted for La Bella 760FS (.45. .65 .85 .105) as my usual 760 FLs were rattling around at the G and D and too low tension - and just don't suit the 7.25 fingerboard radius (at least to my fingertips...). And I agree, the neck seems to like tension! Will report back when they're on tomorrow.
5. Thanks Ikay! That makes sense, I've seen references to Fender F80s on talkbass. Cheers, I'll check that link out.
6. Having scored a wonderful '64 from a fellow BCer, may I ask if anyone knows the string gauges for which the nut would originally have been cut? At a rough guess it seems a light E (.100) and thick G (.50-ish), but any info much appreciated
7. These are fantastic for rapidly switching between a Motown thump, a more open B15 tone or many flavours of SVT. Love mine, GLWTS!
8. Thanks for starting/maintaining this list Zilch! I've browsed (but not bought from) Really Great Guitars - seems to be online only. http://www.reallygreatguitars.com/product-category/really-great-guitars/bass/
9. Henry bought my fretless, very easy transaction with fast payment and communication. Cheers Henry!
10. There are some mentions over on TalkBass, e.g. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/aguilar-tonehammer-500-vs-db750-video-comparison.1286044/page-3#post-20068676 , which suggests giving Aguilar themselves a shout - they apparently recommended a a black plate RCA in V1.
11. Sold a compressor to Doug; very easy, fast and friendly transaction! Highly recommended, cheers!

13.
I absolutely loved the line, "This is a new project, none of us have met yet."

I missed the chance to join a band that had never met each other before.
Brilliant - reminds me of how Damo Suzuki joined Can: “Jaki and I were sitting in a cafe and saw Damo coming down the street,” Czukay tells Prog. “He was somehow praying to the sun and making loud noises, singing or chanting. I turned to Jaki and said: ‘This is our new singer.’” Czukay introduced himself and asked if Suzuki might be interested in joining the band for that night’s sell-out gig at the Blow Up club. “I told him there’d be no rehearsal, that we’d see him on stage and he could just go ahead,” continues Czukay. “And it worked out in a totally unexpected way." -- http://teamrock.com/feature/2016-11-03/the-prog-interview-cans-damo-suzuki One suspects that was 'the exception that proves the rule'...
14.
Played one of these, out of curiosity a little while back. My thoughts then were "This is a lot of bass for the money" Every bass player should have a fretless to dabble with - This is the ideal solution, being even better value GLWTS
Cheers Marc - indeed, an excellent intro to fretless! And....bump.
15. 17. For sale: £150 inc. UK courier Bought this from a fellow BC'er, moving on because of getting a Basstank recently. Works fine **EXCEPT** for the XLR in, which gives a quiet/grainy signal. Jack in is fine. I looked into swapping the XLR (See here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/310428-trace-elliot-gp11-xlr-input/ ) but have not got around to it - although I will include a spare Switchcraft XLR chassis-mount input (in green!) in case you want to investigate further. NB The XLR out (DI out) on the preamp works fine. Has a nice low pass/high pass/full range output feature, good for e.g. 1x15 and 2x10 stacks. Comes with kettle lead. UK courier included, or welcome to come and try (Tonbridge, Kent) at which point I will use said kettle lead to power the actual kettle.
18.
Really no shipping to the distant and Exotic France ?
Sorry mon ami - although I've shipped to Spain before that was with a tough case, so I'd be relying on padding alone to get this one safely across La Manche.
