The Sansamp RPM is now sold; to avoid confusion I will create a new post for the Crest. For sale: Tech21 Sansamp RPM preamp, Crest CA9 power amp. Price, payment and postage: £550 the pair, or £200 for the RPM and £350 the Crest. All prices include UK courier, discount for collection from Tonbridge, Kent. Payment by bank transfer or cash. RPM Details: 1u rack preamp with Sansamp 'tube emulation'. A bit like the RBI but different mid controls (many threads on this). Tech21 info here: http://www.tech21nyc...amp/RPM-OM2.pdf . Working condition: full working condition Cosmetic condition: tiny scratches on side and top from rack, otherwise excellent. History: bought off a fellow Basschatter recently, selling because I am changing my pre- / power- setup to a more pub-friendly class D, after quite frankly overpowering the rest of the band with this! I am also selling the Crest CA9 Comes with: original box, manual, power cord. Crest CA9 Details: Heavy and mighty 2u power amp, I was running it happily at 900W into 4 Ohms, but many configurations are available including 2 Ohms and bridged mono. Built very solidly with a terrific transformer. Working condition: full working condition, one of the fan foam filters is missing from the back but the fans themselves work fine. Amazing volume and attack on low notes! Cosmetic condition: Excellent, some minor rack rash History: bought off eBay a few months ago, selling for the same reason as the preamp (need to scale down so this is overkill). Comes with: printed-off manual, power cord. You are also welcome to the 3u Spider rack bag, which I 'customised' by removing the back pouch wooden board to allow the Crest to be carried with the leads to the preamp already connected. I will include the wooden board so you can decide! Cheers! Kevin

I've used my two Baer ML112s for nearly 20 gigs now. Horizontal stack for stage, vertical stack for floor, built like tanks but easy to shift. And they sound fantastic, especially for cutting through a loud band (a 7-piece in my case), and handle clean or dirty tones as you choose. Highly recommended cabs

Just took delivery this afternoon, not yet plugged in but wanted to share a few pics! Many of you will have seen this model at various shows, it is (I think the first?) Acrylic Resin Treated (ART) model from ACG. This imparts a unique colour pattern based on the wood cell structure. Here is the ACG page for this bass: http://www.acguitars...-art-recurve-4/ I have taken hi res pics but have posted them on photobucket to save bandwidth here, make sure you click the zoom icon on the top right of each photo to get the best definition of that pattern! Link to photobucket gallery: http://s1172.photobu...4?sort=4&page=1 Sound samples to follow from the ACG DFM preamp....and thanks to Alan for the great service

Do smaller cabinets really work as well as their large cousins?
Kevsy71 replied to BigAlonBass's topic in General Discussion
I run 2 x Baer ML112 , 16.5 kg each, or just the one in a pub. Usually I 'lend it out' to whoever we are playing with, and it cuts through beautifully. So certainly worth trying a Baer or similar that stresses the mids, e.g. a Fearful/Fearless, Bergantino, etc. -

Thanks all!
You can buy the S Harris necks separately from the Stratosphere
Ah, I couldn't find the SH, but apparently the Roger Waters neck is also thick: http://www.stratosphereparts.com/2014-fender-roger-waters-precision-p-bass-neck-guitar-vintage-50s-maple-save/ .
I too like a chunky neck on a Precision, and have found the 70s profiles idea
I'll look out for some - am I right in thinking that 'U','D', 'C' etc. describe the shape but the depth front to back can vary over the years?
The neck on the MIM Classic 50 is pretty wide and chunky..
Have heard good things about those,is this the one? http://www.stratosphereparts.com/vintage-50s-lacquer-nitro-fender-p-bass-neck-precision-1957-tinted-maple/
Have you tried altering your left hand technique or strap height?
Yes, it's partly related to an old finger injury, a thicker neck to grip seems to help. Although it's also true that the technique needs work!
...no other bruthas can deny...
Amen!
