1. Played 90 mins on Saturday's pub gig, rock blues covers, and my left hand was cramping by the end. I play a MIM P with La Bella .110 flats, and I'd like some more support from the neck, i.e. front to back depth. Only the base of the fingers seems to be touching the neck on the MIM. I've read up on the profiles of the 50s reissue P's, and the AVRI 63, but short of finding one to try can anyone please advise on how their neck depth/shape would compare to the MIM? Cheers!
2.
I'm in the middle of a 'discussion' with my amp tech who is doing stuff to my Matamps
Ah yes, looks like the GT200 comes with a KT120s option, http://www.matamp.co.uk/amplification/gt200.htm . Would love to A/B that with the Bluetone!
3. Losing my marbles - the company name is Bluetone, not basstone! Now edited
4. Anyone seen or heard these Finnish heads? http://www.bluetone.fi/en/ace-of-bass/ I'm after a loud clean tone so as I understand it KT120s would be a good choice - and I love the vintage look (especially the oiled mahogany variant ). But reviews are thin on the ground - does anyone here have one? Cheers!
5.
Honestly, that made me gasp. It should have read 'taking our lives in our hands we plugged in and...' For your own sakes, please be more cautious next time.
Yes - really stupid, and no excuse. The lesson I've learnt here is always check the venue beforehand where feasible (and this was, it's local) then I could have had this checked out beforehand and no worries on the night. My electrician friend tested and confirmed they were regular, working 3-pin 13 amp sockets, but of course we should have done that before flicking the switch. Nobody at the venue knew why they were labelled with the warning. It's possible it was to make more visible the warning of the big heater socket which was next to them, but that's a guess.
IF indeed - which is unlikely in what is probably a public venue. How many jobbing bands have qualified electricians setting up their gear for them? How many people would understand what precautions to take when using sockets labelled '400V'? How many people would just plug in anyway and hope?
Certainly I will from now on, regardless of peer pressure or time constraints or even if 'it's a fundraiser, we don't want to let them down' etc. Anyways a big thank you to everyone for replying to this so quickly on a Saturday night, and for slapping some sense into me! Won't happen again
6. Thanks all - asking a local electrician to check it out! Will keep you posted.
7. Regular 3-pin UK socket with a '400 Volt' sticker on it.
8. Have just set up for tonight's gig, in a pub barn next to the carvery. The sockets there are all labelled 400 Volt, which IIRC is a 3-phase supply for industrial heaters. Throwing caution to the wind we plugged in to them with our 230 v equipment, and it all seems to work. I'm hoping that is because it does not deliver 400 volts all the time, rather it can just peak at that. Is that right? Cheers!
9. This was originally mine from new (Nevada music), gorgeous smooth tone and lots of power in the parametric EQ. dood is a true gent to deal with too! Someone had better snap this up before I get second thoughts and buy it back...
10. Thanks very much all
11. I'm considering he following setup, anything I should be aware of...? P bass - > LeadFoot A/B/Y signal splitter ----> Fender Rumble 200 combo (v3, 1x15) with tone set flat ----> Fender Rumble 200 combo (v3, 1x15) with tone set for some drive ...plus (when needed) DI from the SansAmp to PA. Aim is for:

portability, saving one on the head-cab-cab trip I make to the car now
flexibility, as I can just take one combo to practice
tonal mix, with the chance of mild drive through one combo and clean through the other
I prefer this over a single combo and ext cab because I'm assuming that the two combos will struggle less at volume, because it's not a very powerful head, and also it allows (3) above. Any thoughts appreciated! Cheers.
12. Thanks chaps! No trades this time unfortunately - I picked up a lovely MIM P from BCer Harry a few weeks back
13. NOW WITHDRAWN For sale: Ernie Ball Music Man Reflex 4HH Game Changer Sale value: £1200, including UK courier Year: 2012 Pic: More hi-res pics on Photobucket: http://s1172.photobu...r?sort=3&page=1 Working condition: perfect Cosmetic condition: only tiny flaw I can find is a hairline stringend-scrape near the D machine head, only visible under direct light History: bought from fellow basschatter Musicman20 in May 2014, original listing here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2443230 Reason for sale: needs must, sadly! Description: Here is a demo of the Game Changer in action: basically plug the bass into your PC/Mac via USB, and configure the pickups how you want! https://www.youtube....h?v=fDdjp_g7Rzc Here's text borrowed from the original listing, with Musicman20's permission :
Weight - Website states around 8 lbs 14 oz. I've tried weighing it a few ways/few times with Wii Fit and kitchen scales. See pic below - 4136g - 9.1 lbs. Approx. between 8.5 and just over 9 lbs (9.1) depending on position on scales and how it was held. Balance - Perfect balance. I tried a few different strap positions, and with a normal EB strap without padding or 'stickiness' to stop instruments moving, it is perfectly balanced. This ir probably due to the smaller headstock and new Musicman lightweight tuners (noted below). The 25th Anniversary Bass, before the Reflex came out, did not have these new tuners (although they had a certain model different from a Stingray) and I believe there was talk of neck dive. Not so with this new model. Spot on, comfortable, balanced, usual EBMM perfection when it comes to ergonomics. It's a thick gloss black with stunning cream binding. Perfect quality control, perfect neck to body match up, dark rosewood board, new Musicman tuners (now on the Bongo/Big Al/Reflex and this model). Matching gloss black headstock. Gamechanger logo on the rear, additional inputs for Midi and the USB cable. The world is your oyster with this bass! Perfect balance and lighter than most Stingray's I've played. It's a nice low-mid weight, no scales to weigh at the moment though, sorry. HH Pickups – The same as the Reflex 4 HH. One of the best Stingray bridge tones I've ever heard. That, and a boatload of other tones. You can get anything out of it. 4 band active EQ, or completely passive settings with passive tone control. The bridge pup IS in the Stingray sweet spot. The mahogany tone block really does add a certain something. The passive tones are what really surprised me…very balanced, good balance between active/passive switching, etc. They have really gone to town with the sound of the bass. Setup – Low actions, very very fast neck. See the specs for the neck/nut sizes etc. It feels faster than a Stingray to me. Gamechanger - USB – I've updated the bass to the latest version. Basically you go to the Gamechanger site above, go to the Web App, plug in, and then you change all of your pickup settings. You can save them, experiment with them, change the Z Bank settings, download other user settings, etc. With some kit you can also do this via Bluetooth or connected to an iPad/iPhone as they have an iOS App now. You can do this once every now and then, mid gig, or never! Up to you. Stock, it has about 25 already preset amazing tones. ALL ANALOG. NO DIGITAL EMULATION. All pups can be activated (basically 4 coils) in whatever settings you want, in any order, in phase, out of phase, series/parallel. Anything from modern Stingray zing, to a warm fat Gibson/Fender neck tone. Flick of the switch, it changes. Midi – MANY possibilities to control many different things! Check the website for information. Without the Gamechanger, this bass has all the passive presets, all the active presets (on the 5 way switch) plus the Z Bank which can be set to anything you want. The Z bank is currently Musicman's idea of great passve tones. It is incredibly easy to use this bass. Not complicated, and very fun for a tweaker who likes to play with tones.
Specification: http://www.music-man...me-changer.html (this model has the Rosewood fingerboard option) Payment: Bank transfer, cash on collection, PayPal with fees paid by buyer. My feedback link is in my signature. Location: near Tonbridge, Kent: you're welcome to come and try out the bass Thanks for looking and let me know any questions! Kev EDIT: Also includes a couple of extras! A Levy's leather strap, white with black trim to go with the bass colours; and also a set of La Bella white tape wounds which have been cut to fit (in addition to the regular super slinkys which are on the bass now)
14. MIM P bought from Harry, superb service, lovely bass and very well packaged!! Many thanks
15. A question possibly related to this: I have a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 12.2, which incorporates two power amps with a separate output for each: Power Output - 375W/8 ohm x 2, 600W/4 ohm x 2 I run this into two Baer ML112s (8 Ohm each). Will there be any difference if I connect one Baer to each power amp output, and hence use both power amps at 8 Ohms each, versus daisy chaining the Baers and presenting 4 Ohms to one of the power amps, i.e. just using one power amp? And if so is one approach recommended over the other? Cheers!
16. Superb head, I run two Baer ML112s off mine and use the valve channel for a splash of grind, the SS for smooth, and blend the two to punch through a loud 7-piece mix. Fantastic bargain, have a bump!
17. I like a simple line as it gives me a break from staring in fixed terror at the fretboard for the more complex lines! "Gimme all your lovin'" is a particular favourite, 3 note progression but drives the song and gives me a chance to shake the ol' booty and yell backing vox.
18. Ash bought a Sandberg P 4 from me - would not hesitate to buy or sell from him, rock solid chap!
19. 150+ beers, plus rock, rhythym n' blues from Expändables at 6pm on Saturday. Say hi if you come!
20. Thanks for the advice Phil Starr - if we were to run off a single socket is something like a Furman 10-connection strip considering? I'd rather that than daisy-chaining power strips: http://www.thomann.de/gb/furman_m10x_e.htm
21. Good luck HappyJack! I'm only now learning how to handle beer festivals....not the crowd, not the nerves, but rather restraining myself from sampling the wares before playing!
