I wonder what people mean by 'boom'... I would call it just a bassier sound which you might want to roll off,
Good point! "Distorted throbbing bass especially in the room corners" is what I meant (need a catchy term for that...)
No boom, no gamma, but the 212 and 210 stood on the 212 casters. Best sound I've had for ages, loved it.
Amen to that. Dodgy room cured by decoupling.

The vertical ML112 stack worked brilliantly, thanks for the tip Roger! I didn't get to hear myself through it from the front of house (obviously) but the support band's Jazz bass was one of the best bass sounds I've heard.

Bump for tomorrow night! First band likely to be on about 730 (despite what the poster says )
I would recommend taking the Eden out of its rack and putting it on the ML112's stacked vertically. You will notice a difference in low end response due to the decreased coupling with the floor. Keep in mind that you are always going to run into bass frequencies building up in the corners of a room. Some rooms will be worse than others.
We're playing the same pub tomorrow evening Roger, so I'll give that a go - cheers PS just to add the Baers are always excellent, it's just this particular room that's a problem!

** NOW SOLD** Sale only: An Eden WT550 'The Traveler' head for £400 couriered in original packaging UK Purchased new in May 2013 from Nevada Music, excellent fully working condition, tube just replaced for a Hotrox-tested EH 12AX7. This is one of the 'Assembled in China under Eden supervision' models. Has been gigged three times but always in the rack bag (and carefully carried!). Reason for sale is that I prefer to use two channels so have picked up a Genz Benz Shuttlemax. The Eden has an excellent EQ section including three mid bands. Single Speakon, which I used to daisy chain two 8 Ohm cabs for 4 Ohm load. Comes with rack ears and screws plus manual. Feedback: http://basschat.co.u...235157-kevsy71/ (just the one so far!) Will be couriered to UK. Or you can collect and I'll knock a tenner off - approx. 10 mins from J5 M25 in Hildenborough, TN11 9ED (near Tonbridge/Sevenoaks). Happy to demo the unit. Thanks for looking! Kevin

I sold Freddie an Aguilar head - fast, polite and trouble free, highly recommended

Rock, rhythm and blues covers from Expändables, Elm Street Groove and Reverb - all for free at The Flying Dutchman, Hildenborough (near Tonbridge). Say hi if you come, I'll be playing bass for Expändables.

Last gig was in a low ceilinged pub, rectangular room divided by a brick fireplace. I had two Baer ML112s on the hard floor, horizontally stacked, approx. 30cm from the wall. Low bass (30Hz) was cut, slight boost at 250Hz, slight cuts at 800Hz and 2KHz. A bassist in the audience said there was distortion and bass pooling, especially in the corners. We're playing there again in two weeks, so having read the advice I'm raising the stack. And only using what I rescued from the garage: a length of pine, an old shelf, and two floor mats from a 2005 Vauxhall Zafira 1.6i. It takes the weight fine! Just needs a sanding and lick of paint (and a way to get that Baer logo straight on the cab cover!). Cost breakdown: £0.00 Old shelf £0.00 Spare length of pine (although you can get them for about £2.50) £0.00 Spare screws and nails £2,495.00 Vauxhall Zafira 2005 1.6i Will let you know how it gets on...

Eden WT550 well worth considering too - very flexible EQ especially around the all important mids. This is mine in a 7-piece band - just a tweak on the passive P tone control to go from the blues to rock numbers: https://soundcloud.com/the_expandables/sets/live-march-2014
+ 1 Just a thought, but how many of us double as the bands sound man? I do in our band, how many more?
Yep, me too! I have the mixer next to me throughout the set for monitor tweaks. And I send a bit of upper frequency DI to the PA, in case the amp dies I can bring in the rest of the bass quickly.

Set from our 1st March gig at the Padwell pub, stone street, Kent. https://soundcloud.com/the_expandables/sets/live-march-2014 That's a Sandberg California VS P-bass with Klopmann PB63 pickups through an Eden WT550 and single Baer ML112 (plus a touch of DI). Recorded with a Tascam DR-05 recorder.

Bump for Saturday!

Mix of classic and hard rock from Cabin Fever and then rock rhythm and blues from my Expändables! There's a BBQ as well plus some good beers on tap. Say hello if you come, I'll be playing a Sandberg California (P) through at least one Baer ML112

Flyfisher, Dincz - thanks very much for the detailed walkthrough, that explains it! Much appreciated

Please could anyone help me get my head around the theory of input vs output impedance? I've read that the output impedance of passive pickups (about 10kΩ, but varying with frequency) is best coupled to an input impedance of at least 1:10 ratio. In my case my p-bass plugs into a Boss TU-3 tuner with (I think, based on the TU-2) 1 mΩ input impedance / 1kΩ output impedance, and then onto the head, and true enough the bass sounds 'fuller' than with my previous effects chain arrangement. So my question... If the input impedance represents the load 'seen' by whatever is plugging into it, surely a higher input impedance means a higher load. Given that impedance is resistance (more or less), why does this allow more of the bass signal through - I would have thought it would have allowed less? I'm guessing the answer has something to do with increased difference in electric potential, but any advice appreciated! Cheers Kev
