  1. Rumble because it was feared it would incite gang fights (rumbles); The Man with the Golden Arm because the title of the theme tune relates to drug use.
  2. I believe this is one of only two instrumentals banned by the BBC! Excellent tune, also love the Guitar Wolf version.
  3. Machine Gun by The Commodores. Bonus points for bassist Ronald LaPread having his name in big letters on his Acoustic head, and for Lionel Ritchie going full on Space Rock at one point on keys: ...and my favourite music video of all, space-surf legends 'Man...or Astroman?' with 'Miracle of genuine pyrex'. Caution: not a hit.
  4. Moollon P classic in Root Beer Sparkle. P classic with J neck, gorgeous player! I love the colour, although I haven't yet compared it with actual root beer as the Co-op only had Dr Pepper: Really pleased with it, very high quality craftsmanship throughout. Looking forward to stringing it with incoming La Bellas as I'm on a lockdown Jamerson journey! Will record some tones when I get the chance.
  5. I love the Ramones -saw them live a dozen times -but that's crazy. And there shouldn't be any fretboard wear except for 1cm-deep divots at E3, A3, D2 ;)
  6. Thanks, it is! A cracking amp, but we have an all-in-one mixer/amp now, another Behringer
  7. For sale: Behringer iNuke 3000 power amp, £100 UK courier £10 Now free postage in UK Full working order with plug, manual and special Speakon for a bridged connection. Very easy to use with various DSP modes. Cosmetically: has scratches the depth of the top panel (see pic) from when I housed it an old Fender combo cab and the tough foil shielding scraped the amp as I removed it - but it's only on the surface.

Sold an electronic drumkit to Mark who drove to collect it - a very straightforward and pleasant transaction, just sorry we couldn't chat over a cuppa due to lockdown! Throughly recommended, thanks again Mark.
  9. For me that should be the First Commandment of bass ownership
  10. That's a beauty Mick! Dakota is my favourite of the Fender reds...must resist...
  11. I've been learning 'What's going on' from the score in the 'Standing in the Shadows of Motown' book. Strangely, although I'm far from being able to use just the index finger for most of it, there are some faster parts that I'm finding easier with it! I like the fact that the clip shows his right thumb muting too.
  12. I think we should really be considering amplification defence too: tilt your 810 cab onto its castors and charge at their shins seal your valuables into an SVT-VR and chortle as they make it halfway down your drive before collapsing plug in and play 'Mustang Sally'
  13. Evah Pirazzi Orchestra set, brand new and unopened. Bought when I had an EUB but never used. £100 inc UK postage. Cheers! Kev
  14. Yeah, I've had that problem on another bass where the dot spanned the line between the neck and board and found it difficulr to set. I've not personally had that problem on the Bruce Thomas myself as the dot is fully on the dark ebony board, but as you say Luminlay's are the best of all!
  15. Is there a difference when you record with the Macbbok Air plugged in vs it running off battery? MIne has quite shocking grounding issues - they are a bit notorious for it unfortunately.
  16. Yngwie J Malmsteen. I can't find a photo except for this Reverb sale: https://reverb.com/item/1479190-fender-precision-bass-owned-by-yngwie-malmsteen-1973?show_sold=true
  17. Now SOLD and paid in full. Thanks for all the interest and kind words!
  18. That fretless is bonkers!! PS the Gittler website appears to have been hacked so be wary if searching for further info.
  19. It's hard for me to determine whether relic is convincing because I've seen so few examples of e.g. pre-CBS Fenders in the flesh, and the only one I've owned was a refinish. The variation in visible wear on vintage basses I've browsed over the years though is huge: e.g. James Jamerson's basses always look pretty clean in the pics I've seen, versus (for example) this: https://reverb.com/item/33112524-1961-fender-precision-bass-in-fiesta-red-finish-with-original-hard-shell-case ...with the paint worn alll around the back edge and back-of-neck discolouration all the way up to the neck joint and on the E side. So 'what does genuine distress look like'? would yield a range of answers. Despite that, I suspect there are some golden rules too look out for (e.g. the nitro crackling as mentioned earlier in the thread vs obvious attacks with a sander)
  20. or get a 5er! Nothing beats a low B to wake up the back row
