  1. Yeah, I've had that problem on another bass where the dot spanned the line between the neck and board and found it difficulr to set. I've not personally had that problem on the Bruce Thomas myself as the dot is fully on the dark ebony board, but as you say Luminlay's are the best of all!
  2. Is there a difference when you record with the Macbbok Air plugged in vs it running off battery? MIne has quite shocking grounding issues - they are a bit notorious for it unfortunately.
  3. Yngwie J Malmsteen. I can't find a photo except for this Reverb sale: https://reverb.com/item/1479190-fender-precision-bass-owned-by-yngwie-malmsteen-1973?show_sold=true
  4. Now SOLD and paid in full. Thanks for all the interest and kind words!
  5. That fretless is bonkers!! PS the Gittler website appears to have been hacked so be wary if searching for further info.
  6. It's hard for me to determine whether relic is convincing because I've seen so few examples of e.g. pre-CBS Fenders in the flesh, and the only one I've owned was a refinish. The variation in visible wear on vintage basses I've browsed over the years though is huge: e.g. James Jamerson's basses always look pretty clean in the pics I've seen, versus (for example) this: https://reverb.com/item/33112524-1961-fender-precision-bass-in-fiesta-red-finish-with-original-hard-shell-case ...with the paint worn alll around the back edge and back-of-neck discolouration all the way up to the neck joint and on the E side. So 'what does genuine distress look like'? would yield a range of answers. Despite that, I suspect there are some golden rules too look out for (e.g. the nitro crackling as mentioned earlier in the thread vs obvious attacks with a sander)
  7. or get a 5er! Nothing beats a low B to wake up the back row
  8. Still here and still bargainous at £3250
  9. Just bought a gorgeous Yamaha TRB 5 II from Tim: a very straightforward transaction even in lockdown, and an excellent packaging job. Much appreciated Tim!
  10. That's good! Same for me thankfully; but if we ever have the organ involved I go up an octave - there's no way I'm competing with it
  11. Love mine - out of all the basses I've used in my noisy covers band: guitar, keys, sax, harmonica - it's been the one which punches through the best. I currently have it strung with full fat La Bella 760Ms which is amazing through a Noble preamp. But I miss the sound of the stock Elites it came with, so may have to get a Bass Centre Detroit Bass for Motown duties
  12. Hooray! Welcome to the club Sir
  13. Great stuff again! Bonus point for having twin 'TrevorCam' ;)
  14. Yeah, same with us. We sometimes struggle to fill certain slots but have learned to account for it - playing without a drummer is quite the experience!
  15. That's excellent Trevor, and great to hear the Pro 2E so present in the mix! Thanks for sharing and a great job by all Please may I ask the video software used? I'd like to try this out for our church too. And will be nice for me to have the chance for multiple takes on the bassline for once
  16. And none of those are good for metal.
  17. This bass looks so nice that I just bought some root beer as consolation...
  18. Mate, it's not even close: check this out
  19. https://papianezo.ecrater.com/c/2149631/elements-collection?sp=1 Or $600k for the lot, though to be fair it's free shipping. Apparently they have been 'crystallized by nature's power', which is nice.
  20. Very cool demo mate! Must try one of these one day...
  21. Too right Stew! Lee, I love mine - sounds immense with either the stock Elite SS or La Bella 760M deep talkin' flats - and I'm tempted to buy another so I don't have to keep string swapping!
  22. Enjoyed that Andy - thanks for posting! Can see that building very nicely into a full song.
  23. Hi, lovely bass - may I ask the string spacing at the bridge please? Cheers
