2. I like the red body/red tort look - all right, I know these are mainly guitars, but still....... Oooops - no pickguard.......so:
3.
Played a gig in a pub in Gourock ( on the Clyde coast) last night, first time there, £150 between four. Worked out at £30 each and 30 in kitty for drinks as it was costing us a fortune for rounds. Will ask for more money next time as we were asked to come back (must be something wrong with their hearing!). Up here most pubs pay from around £150 to £280. No doubt some guys get more but hey, I`d do it for nothing if it gets me out playing. Jez
If you're playing around Greenock/Port Glasgow, ask some of the *real* Old Timers if they remember a band called The Harmonichords back in the 70s. I used to play guitar with them & we played all over the area. (Apologies for HiJack!) Geoff
4. Harmon Kardon - you've got to be careful how you say that if you've had a drink or two...................... G.
5. Played 2 gigs last weekend & came out with £12 in my pocket.................. G.
6. I turned it upside down, put it in a vice & made a few deep scores in the base, then I used Superglue.
7.
Which way do I turn the truss rod to make the headstock go backwards?
Clockwise G.
8. Looks identical to a DiMarzio Model 1 - anyone know? G.
9. I had a couple of small PA speakers a few years ago - low sensitivity. G.

11. Bill Lawrence Products EB-50PB, twin rails - rails extended when compared to guitar model, mounted for about 1 week, 4 conductor - currently wired in parallel. dusty but excellent condition. Will trade for neck position DiMarzio UltraJazz. Would also consider DiMarzio Model J (neck), but as I already have an UltraJazz on the bridge, that would be my primary choice. Will sell for £40.00 posted Geoff
12. Jimmy Reed!!!!!!!!!!!!! How can you miss out Jimmy Reed? G.
13. Lovely bass - love the colour/finish & I like narrow-spaced 5's. What value are you putting on it, Nugget? Geoff
14.
Is that a gig in a school canteen or somewhere??
Mmmmmmm. It's actually one of the offices for Radio Fox (Leicestershire Hospital Radio) - we were doing a live broadcast at Xmas and used one of the bigger(!) offices for a studio as the actual studios are tiny. I think I was glaring at the guy who was tiptoe-ing around taking pics & tripping over my cables. G.
15. Funny how folk can't spell "ferrules", isn't it? Like Septics can't spell "pickguard" (pickgaurd). G.
16. I use a modded Hohner B Bass V which has pretty narrow string spacing. The pups/pre aren't great though (Emg Selects/2 Band ?) so I've upgraded them. This pic is before the upgrade, just to give you an idea of the spacing: I have a smallish hand so goes great for me. G.
17. Pity you're so far away - I'd have it if you were nearer, but not worth how much they'd charge you/me for posting! G.
18. All the best low Bs I've played have had some sort of string tree making the break angle over the nut more extreme. DR strings no doubt help. I had a Washburn Bantam B2005 and with a Bartolini (can't remember the designation) on it the B was dire. I put the original Washburn pup back on and it sounded great. Go figure! By far & away the best B I've played was on a Cort A6 and it had D'Addario XLS on. G.
19.
Howdy! Got a never used Warwick 4U Rack Bag sitting in my bedroom holding plastic bags. As posted on another section of the site (oops) it would take light duties only as a rack; effects maybe. Carry handles are handy, but to be fair the thing really isn't the toughest piece of gear I've ever seen. That's why I never used it. My head unit is about 30kg...this case would implode. I live in Derby. This is collection only I'm afraid. Cheers Jon
PM'd G.
20.
Do you know if they make a hard case for these or do they fit in a "standard" case?
Get a soft gun case from an Army/Navy surplus for cheap - works great with this bass. Geoff
21. Does anyone know of a forum, or sub-forum which is intended for the discussion of Burns basses/guitars? Geoff
22. I'd use a Dremel & a small wire brush to tart up the pickups, but remove the covers first. I'd be inclined to get a fretless neck rather than defret an original Fender neck, but if you must, use veneer to fill the fret slots, and don't just fill it with Plastic Wood (like I did). I use an old can of Liquid Gold for cleaning up stuff. YMMV. G.
