1. A friend of mine with a TRB-6 has the same experience when his battery dies - I've heard it - funny too, as it's a completely different pre. G.
2. OK, I've made a mockup - black from board & earth leads fro pickups to ground. It worked with the Red to Tip and White to Ring. My cavity(!) isn't shielded, so I have to take all earths to the socket pin. Again, many thanks for the help. It looks like I'll get the Old Dear back to original spec, then I may put it up for sale. G.
3. How about one of these pups? Other wise I'd look at the Dimarzio double-coil starndard-shaped pickups like the J or the Ultra. I had a Model J in the bridge of a similar setup & I wired it to a switching tone pot so I could go seriesl/parallel. In series mode it had the extra grunt to keep up with the P pup & in parallel it sounded like a J. G. G.
4. You should try the RBX375 with the humbucking pickups. G.
5. On my basses I've fixed it that those with an indent face exactly toward me, and those without indent max out exactly toward me - (6 o'clock?). G.
6. Where are you based? Aaaah - just used my eyes & see you are fae Fife! A wee bit far from North Lanarkshire! Good luck. G.
7. I have a couple of curly leads I picked up late 70's/early 80's and I still use them. I tried a comparison of the 7 or 8 leads I have in my box and only one showed any deterioration of the treble end - and that's a relatively modern lead (Planet Waves) which I bought about 6 years ago. But since I don't use a lot of top end, I don't mind using it. G.
8. I have a large toolbox with wheels at one end into which go all my bass & PA stuff including the big speaker leads, spare batteries, toolkit, gaffer tape etc. G.
9. I've got Clapton, Harrison, Keef, Pete Townsend & Ronnie Wood's along with Patti Boyd (to get both sides of the Clapton/Harrison thing) & Joanna Lovely!! G.
10. They were built on the same assembly line as models with Ibanez, Antoria etc on them - i.e. the same guitar differently labeled, I believe. Some of them were pretty decent. I had an Antoria Black Beauty with Super 77s and Tree of Life fretboard - it was lovely - the only guitar I wish I still had. G.
11. 8 Ohm - the reading is usually lower than the nominal impedence. G.
12. FWIW, I have a 30" scale Epi EB0 with GHS Brite Flats on it. The bottom E feels very solid indeed and is a .108 gauge. All other considerations aside, I would imagine a .135 - .140 gauge for a B would give a playable tension. G.
13. OK, I have the original pre & I wired it in, switched it on and ........ nothing. Has anyone got a pic showing where everything is connected? Particularly what /how is connected to the black wire coming off the board just to the right of the volume pot? G.
14. Sounds like you've overtightened the truss rod, put a slight back-bow into the neck & the strings are hitting the frets around the 5th or so. Take half a turn out of the truss rod & lower the bridge. G.
15. The Fatboy (Fatbody?) neck pickup from Guitarfetish is a terrific pickup for the money - much more like a Strat neck pickup. http://www.guitarfetish.com/Alnico-Fatbody-Oversized-Polepiece-Tele-Bridge-Pickup_p_75.html I had this in one of my Teles along with a Fender 52 RI bridge - it sounded superb. G.
16. The shoulders & general fitting of the pickup is very like my old Westone Thunder IIIb. G.
17. Just as a long shot - try connecting the FX Out to the FX In with a patch cable & see if it still does it. G.
18. The only chart I usually have is the set list. I've never used them, always learned the songs. Even when I depped last New Year I learned the set list in 10 days. I started in the early 60's - you didn't have charts then - people would have laughed at you. I might use them at rehearsals, but never on stage. G.
19.
I've never "got" blues, or Motown for that matter.
Commiserations. G.
20.
Yes, it really is that bad! I don't really get the concept that I won't enjoy a type of music based on skin colour. That may be how music is marketed in certain 'territories', but it has no influence on what music I enjoy. Having said that I must admit that apart from the very odd exception I have no love for this particular genre. Still, this struck me as a particularly poor attempt. Even so, there is worse out there: Enjoy. EDIT: stay with it till the chorus, or you'll miss the best bits.
I have to say that, Honestly, that was truly dreadful!! G.
21.
Is this as bad...etc? Yes it is. It's a shame that music is so polarised in the US these days. KW is a mega star in Hip Hop and his intended audience is Black America, so it's no surprise that we wouldn't like it.
Sorry - if that's right we should never have 'got' Blues. G.
22. His Mammy once told him he could sing.......... G.
