1. Plenty of cloth & round grill-covers, but only one guy offering flat metal. G.
2. I've just picked up a completely unloaded cab. It needs a grill & I'd like that metal with small round holes in it - you know the one! - to match that on my big cab. Anyone know where I can get it - I'm in Loughborough. G.
3. I have a U-Retro on my BB415 & the output is ferocious, even with the trimmers turned down, but the passive output is OK. Sounds like there's something not right in there. G.
4. I've no doubts that the case is original, as it's a fitted case & it fits the Thunder III perfectly. The serial number dates this to 1986 and production ceased in 1986, so this, along with the soapbar shells on the pickups suggest that this was made very near to the final run. Anyone local to me is welcome to play it. G.
5. This was my son's during a phase for Jazz which lasted about 5 minutes......... Anyway I've had a superb fret job done on it, put on a set of 11-52 flats & quite honestly, it plays superbly, with an action as low as the proverbial gnat's ch.......... There's a polystyrene semi-hard case along with this. This guitar really need played as it's much better than the brand would suggest. £120 collected, make me a sensible offer or WHY to trade? G.
6. Well, this is the one I always swore would go into the grave with me, and here we are!!! I don't play fretless with any band & it's just sitting there not earning its keep. So it has to go despite the fact I love it. Very few marks, but it is 31 years old, so there are one or two. Completely original. Push/Pull volume for in/out phase Passive treble roll-off Single knob active boost - centre detente - anti-clockwise boosts bass, clockwise boosts mids. Pickup selector switch Serial/parallel switch Active/passive switch 18v electrics. Includes leather strap, and original Westone hard case, Allan keys and some packs of used strings. Currently strung with Fender 7120s which I like quite a lot. Any questions please ask. £350 collected Loughborough or make me a sensible offer.
7. This bass is now gone. I've had this for 3 years buying it second-hand. It's almost spotless/unmarked - no buckle rash. Neck has minimum relief & low action. Strings are old (2 years i.e. dead but that's how I like 'em) Overwater Xtra Longs (35" scale) - DR HiBeams are fitted new to these. Active pickups *and* active pre-amp on this - takes 2xPP9s & runs 18v. Batteries were changed in February. I can't remember the woods, but I believe it is Bubinga on Ash with a Pao Ferro fretboard. Two possible issues. When I got it the trussrod nut was wrecked through previous owner using an inappropriate instrument, & there was a bow in the neck. This was cured by tapping a stainless steel philips screw into the nut with some Araldite, & tightening. Worked a charm Previous owner replaced pan knob with a toggle switch a la Les Paul. I have had no problems with this, but I will include the original pan pot, a new pan pot and a similar but not identical knob should you wish to go back to pan pot. Strap included but no case. £225 collected (Loughborough or will travel a sensible distance to meet) or make me a sensible offer. Any questions, just ask. p.s. I could be pursuaded to trade for a 5 string Squier Vintage Modified....... well, just a thought.
8. 'Fraid not - it's one of these: G.
9. Got them on my Yammy BB415 + U-Retro. Phat ain't the word, Dude!!!! G.

11. I have 3 x 5ers with narrow(ish) string spacing. My main bass is a Yamaha BB415 fitted with a U-Retro Pre. This is 19mm at the bridge but is quite narrow at the nut. The Peavey Cirrus V BXP is 16mm at the bridge and 10mm at the nut combined with a 35" scale and I was very happy with it as #1 bass for a long time. My Hohner Pro B Bass V fitted with an Artec 2-band pre which has exactly the same spacing as the Cirrus, surprisingly, as it *feels* narrower than the Cirrus - it must be the profile on the back of the neck - the Peavey is shallower than the Hohner. The only thing I'd say is that if you are into slapping, then, as is well-known, it's easier on wider spacing. However, I can slap easier on the Cirrus than on the Hohner - no idea why. I don't have any problems moving from one to the other either on string spacing or scale length - it's a matter of knowing your instrument well enough. I had a Yamaha RBX375 and really liked the tone, but was getting pains between my thumb & first finger due, I believe, to the wider fretboard. These pains disappeared when I moved to a narrower model. (Shameless plug - I could be pursuaded to part with either the Peavey or the Hohner at the right price......) G.
12. Most of the guys on the US forums think very highly of them - and their amps & cabs too. G.
13.
Is the Xbox RF still around? I might be interested in this if this is for the PC to connect wireless Xbox 360 devices.
Sorry for the delay - been on hols. yes, it's around...., but an RF box connects the Xbox to the Telly. G.
14. Although not exactly the shape you are looking for, the Yamaha BB414 (or 415) would meet all your other criterea. G.
15. Years ago, I dropped a plectrum near the front of the stage, and on straightening up, I caught the top corner of the piano on my temple just above my right eye.... and knocked myself out cold whilst still straightening up. Seemingly I stood there swaying for a few seconds until the quick-witted rhythm guitarist leaped forward and supported me as I slid gently to the ground. I came around again a few seconds later & was OK to do the rest of the gig. Another time, while I was playing with a kind of Scottish Show Band, the singer was playing some Scottish Country tunes on a dual-deck harmonica when a big chunk of something(!) shot out of the moothie during a particularly hard sook note and walloped him on the back of the throat. He immediately swallowed it, like a trooper - a bit like the time a bluebottle flew into Patrick Moore's mouth when The Sky at Night was live and he instantly swallowed it & carried on (I saw that!!!). He then proceeded to have a violent coughing fit, but, God bless 'im, he managed to co-ordinate the coughing-out and the sucking-in of air with what he was playing and apart from the coughing sounds over the top of the tune and turning a startling shade of purple, never missed a note. We, of course, were in hysterics. G.
16. +1 for Axes'R'Us - for all sorts of bits as well as bass - free postage too. G.
17. Give John East a bell & talk to him about it - I'm sure he could do something that fits. G.
18.
I've got a MIM jazz that I'm intending on spending a bit of money on doing up. I'm gonna put a J retro in it (unless someone has any better suggestions) and probably some Delano's, but I intend on replacing the hardware and maybe even getting a new neck for it. If anyone in the know can recommend me a good source of hardware and any other necessary bits and bobs that would be great!
You mean there's something better than a J-Retro? G.
19. +1 on the Yamaha BB414. Covers all bases (pun intended!!!) G.
