I recently bought PsychAndy's Yammy BB415, and passive, it was an excellent bass - but I like my actives, so I had Howard fit a U-Retro on it & a battery box, now a good bass is a great bass - in fact I jammed it the last two weeks at the Old Volunteer in Nottingham & there's a fair bit of interest in it & many compliments on the tone. As said above, go for thew JE first then decide. G.
Here is the long version with the refrain at the start. Written straight out - IE no key signature. Its in the written key F minor [Ab] Watch out for the key change at the chorus. Garry
God! That's impressive!!!! Saved out of Firefox - many thanks. OK, on more research I've discovered that this is most likely a Peavey Scorpion. Comes in 2 parts - what's called the 'Basket, comprising of the frame, cone & coil, and the magnet which is kept on by 3 bolts. Remove bolts, lift of magnet, replace basket, coil & cone. But how/why/where/how much? Is there a Peavey dealer in Leicester or Nottingham? G.

We have a pair of Peavey Eurosys 500 XT cabs. (Each driver is 250W @ 4 Ohm) One of the drivers is blown - it sounds like a fuzz - it looks like a Black Widow I've seen in pics on Ebay, but I'm not sure. There's a sticker saying it's already a replacement basket. I have no experience with these. Question: Is it only the basket that ever goes wrong with these & how much are the replacements? Does the coil element ever go wrong? If so, how could you tell which component is dud? Would I be better just replacing it with a 15" 4 Ohm 250(ish)W if I can find one? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks. G.
They look sweet actually, but I don't have the time/patience for international delivery really. I hate having stuff sitting in a depot for two weeks while they finish their biscuits and get around to billing you.
I've bought a lot of stuff from GFS & Jay usually gets stuff to me in 4 - 5 days by airmail. Great stuff at the price - I recommend the "Texas Specials". G.
Thanks to iPad and garageband, these are not being used. Nice little home recording package. Both in good condition and working fine except the MR8 doesn't have a battery compartment cover. Comes with 2GB flash card Come with PSUs for both. Instruction manual for the DR5 Web site spec for the Boss: http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=115 And the Fostex http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/ar...ucts/MR-8.shtml Will be safely packed up.
I might be interested in the Fostex, but not the sequencer - might you split? I've sat within 5 feet of Guy Pratt at the Edinburgh Fringe when he was doing his entertaining thing with his '67(?) Fender, and being that close found it rattled quite alarmingly, but I bet you couldn't hear it from the amplified sound a few rows back. Didn't bother him a jot. G.

Does anyone here have a Yamaha RBX 774 or 775?

I think an abject apology to Marlin for hijacking the thread is overdue. Sorry, Mate. G. -
thanks for the reply! could this possibly work with the 774 since it has a switch selector instead of a rotary one? or does the problem not exist on that sorry that this is a bit of a struggle for me to understand since i only do novice electronics at school but I'm good at soldering I have read about a battery problem with the the 37* series and was wondering if this applied to the 77* series as well. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f38/yamaha-r...ife-wtf-209227/ I am asking too many questions as I have recently acquired a 774 off ebay since I tried a 374 and loved the feel of it many thanks
I believe many of these were made with incorrect wiring at the jack socket which allowed the battery to drain, although I might stand corrected, as I seem to remember a possibility the pre had a manufacturing fault which required replacement. As for swapping the phase, if it sounds thin & nasally (everything set flat including amp), then try it - it can always be put back. G.
