1. Just bought Andy's Yammy BB415. Kept him on a hook for a couple of weeks whilst scrabbling together the cash - apologies, Andy, but it arrived here safe & sound & twice as handsome. No probs. G.
2. Just sold Steve a little 28.5" scale Harley Benson P bass. Excellent comms at all times & really decent bloke. Thanks Steve!! G.
3. I've got a set of Fender 9120 Nylons on my fretless & like them a lot. I've just bought PsychoAndy's Yammy BB415 & am looking for a set, but can't see any 5 string sets. Anyone know where/if they are available. G.
4. Our last session included engineer & studio for 5 hours cost us £200. G.
5. After all this talk about replacement..............have you tried cutting the mids on the EQ of the amp? G.
6.
My god! What an awesome sound Actually, what an awesome range of sounds. I was worried that 27 year old pickups might be past their best, but jeez, they're hot with loads of punch in humbucker mode, but clear as a bell in single coil. My favourite is front HB, rear SC and slightly towards the front on the pan pot, tone fully open - deep and punchy bass but with just enough edge without being strident. I really want to do my idea of having the pickup switches as toggles so I can put in series mode - that's going to be incredibly hot.
Why don't you rewire the neck pup straight in as a humbucker, use one switch to put the bridge pup parallel/serial & the other to do serial/parallel mode? That would seem to suit you. G.
7. I was in a band a few years ago where the singer was the bandleader, & organiser - he did a lot o paperwork & got everything verified by letter etc. He also spent a lot of time chasing gigs by visiting venues etc. He took a bigger cut & no-one minded. G.

G.
9. I'm in much the same boat. After The Subway Blues Band (see music thread) folded, as the guitard messed us around then the drummer took a fit of the sturdies & did his drama quieen bit, I'm left with me (I like to think I can blay reasonable bass in time) and a pretty decent blues singer with harp. He & I get on together. We jammed with a couple of blokes 0- the guitarist was an alpha male who immediately took over everything & the drummer was his puppy. He was a good technical player with no feeling wahtsoever. So we're off down to The Old Volunteer Open Mike night in Nottingham on thursday night to jam & see if we can drum up some interest. If anyone in that area is reading this & fancies a go............... G.
10. I suspect it was intended to go with the Colorama guitar, judging by the body shape, but I'll sit corrected if I'm wrong. G.
11. Those were *very* nice instruments - I think you've got lucky there. Tap the poles of the pickups with a littlt screwdriver while playing with the switches & see if any of the coils turn on/off. You might find one switch is coil split & the other is phase - or there might be an individual split for each pup, which would be more useable - I've always found out-of-phase pretty unuseable. G.
12. If anyone's got a decent(!) Sue Ryder (or other) neck they don't want, I'll have it - Mine has a Not-So-Good neck with a pretty rough fret job - several low frets - if it were high frets it would be much more fixable - so I can't get the action below, say, medium - I like low - and I don't feel it's worth spending £40 on it for the fret job. G.
13. ......also to be serious, if it's good enough for Jack Bruce............ G.
14.
[/Pedant Match Point]
Good one! G.

17. I have a 28.5" scale bass I got from Thomann which I could be persuaded to part with..... http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbp...scale_ebass.htm I've got Roto black nylons on it (Oooo errr, Missus!!!) G.
18. I have a Cirrus BXP 5er and it's a terrific player. G.
19. Y'gotta have the original nickel-plated screws to get the tone, Dude!!! Everybody knows that...... G.

22.
Fantastic amp this, my friend has one - very vox-ish!
Probably as near as you can get to a Vox AC30 without going hand-wired.... G.
