I had the 4x10 too, and as a bass amp, it made a bloody good guitar amp! G.

Take covers off & clean up with a copper wire brush on a Dremel (or similar) then give a few coats of clear nail varnish. G.

I'm looking for useable video & sound cards - did you reuse them, or were they integrated? Geoff

Try this one - guys are friendly if mostly US, and great deal of knowledge - also a good bass forum affiliated with this site. I played a Vintage 'Lemondrop' (the Peter Green LP copy) in Sheehan's in Leicester about 2 years ago and almost took it home - it's action was simply excellent. Not sure as to whether it was due to the guitar or the way Sheehan's set them up. G.

I've got one in the drawer & can pretty much confirm it won't fit in a jazz control slot along with a battery. G.

I've got small hands & prefer 5ers. It took me a while to realise I needed a **narrower** fretboard, not a shorter scale. Try a bass with a proper 'J' sized neck. I have a Hohner B bass 5 which has a narrow neck for a 5 & also a Peavey Cirrus BXP which, while not as narrow as the B is still pretty good for me. G.

you could try axesrus.com G.

Two of my best instruments came out of Cash Converters: 1979 Ibanez Studio ST-105 for £140: and my Westone Thunder III Issue 2 Fretless for £180: G.

After about 40 years of singing & playing guitar, I thought bass & singing was impossible - I ended up singing the bassline(!!!!) but I've managed to work out a few numbers where the bass is pretty simple. I read somewhere that Sting plays a simpler bassline live compared to what's on the recording..... G.

I suggest plugging it into an MXR-80+>amp before doing anything. G.
Alright Geoff! How's it going! Will Steely Dan help me to break on out of the bass fill rut I'm in!
I certainly find the bass lines in a lot of Steely Dan's stuff inspiring. You won't know till you try! G.

I suspect that having the gain full would make everything sound pretty much the same. I'd cut back a bit on the gain & use more Master. Or use a 2 channel/volume unit like an MXR-80+ G.

We're moving house so this will go down the tip by the end of the week. G.

Ibanez AEB-10E - electronics problem

I wouldn't do that. Since I would now be at the end of my knowledge, I'd be taking to a luthier or guitar tech who knows more than me. G. -
The only time I like it on is for slapping - and I don't (really) slap! G.
