Hi there and welcome!
yeah i dont know why he bothers with the jazz, i guess it must be real nice to play, coz IMO without doubt it produces his worst sound, it just doesnt work for his style
I think I've heard him say it is because John Paul Jones is his idol, so always wanted to play a Fender Jazz. Went he played on the The Mars Volta album De-Loused in the Comatorium, it sounds like he was using the Jazz on that. He sounded pretty kick ass... but with Chilis, it just doesn't cut the way the Stingray or Modulus Flea can. It is his sig sound with the band.
Don't forget that he started the SA tour with his fender and he only switched back to the modulus after their sound engineer (Dave Rat) complained that the jazz doesn't sit well in the mix.
I found it funny that he used his Fender Jazz on Stadium Arcadium, and to my ears at least, they tried hard to make it sound like a Musicman Stingray. Oh well... Funk Unlimited sounds like a cool name for a bass.
Just had this reply to my "Im not happy with the transaction" Sir, I have a paypal account, but it is limited. I can not use paypal, sorry. If you still want it, please make the payment through western union, like ebay said. Remember that I am a verified seal member and you will get you money back if I don`t send the item. If you do not send the money, both of us will lose(I am in london trying to make a little business here and I really need those money .. and you will lose this huge oportunity to buy it at this price). You have all guarantee with this transaction because Ebay contact you via e-mail with invoice . I had paid all shipping tax and I don't want to lose the money if I will restore my item back . And remember that I am a verified seal member and a trusted member of eBay and all my transactions are insured and monitored my eBay and it's affiliates.
Tell him that you have relatives in London and that they will pay cash on collection. See what excuse he manages to pull out. No honest seller would refuse a cash in hand sale... especially with the fees taken by PayPal and Western Union.

Band Practice cancelled again...............
I decided to leave - we were meant to have a practice tonight even though the singer's ill (apparently), but the drummer didn't turn up. No message or anything. So that's it, I've quit and am going to start looking for something else.
Good decision. From my experience, it's better to work with a beginner who is ultra dedicated to someone talented who can't be arsed. -
lol... so what was an active MEC pre-amp doing fitted to the active MEC pickups in the first place? Tell him to do his job so you can do yours.
Would you like to inform everyone how you got there! Good job
Say the words "trays" and "cellulite". It was pretty clever.
Never done an audition in my life.
I've just realised I've never had to audition either. A bit weird I guess... but yesterday I literally just got back from holiday and had two phone calls asking me to play some gigs. I guess I must be lucky to be always meeting musicians who never know any bassists.

Can´t wait to get my filthy mitts on this.
I'd narrow your quest down by deciding on 2 main factors; Nickel v Steel (there are one or two more obscure alternatives but generally these 2) and what is your preferred string gauge (don't worry too much about exact string thickness, just light/medium/heavy). Once you've done this you can then start thinking about what different manufacturers offer... of course I could be teaching my Granny to suck eggs and your question might be specifically about manufacturers In which case Thomastik nickels
+1. A lot of people start talking about string manufacturers without paying a second thought to the actual material used. Comparing Rotosound (more known for their stainless steels) to Ernie Ball (more known for their nickel wounds) isn't a fair comparison. I prefer nickel-plated steel as gives me a balance between warmth and longer life. At the moment, I'm in love with DR Sunbeams.

Once was supported by Adele at the Brixton Jamm.

I had that one time. Took days of airing and a bottle of Febreeze. That did the trick!

Better technology has become more widely available so building basses can be cheap yet not completely crap. So I think it is safe to say it won't fall apart in your hands. Of course, you get what you pay for in terms of tone and playability. Good luck with the search.

That's an interesting bass!

Basically, I did some recordings for a guy who used to go to my martial art class at a proper recording studio in Old Street. Unfortunately, before I could get a copy my phone got stolen with his number. Not having any other way to contact him, they're probably lying in a box somewhere or worse. And I never listened to them. I wish I could remember his last name so in case he's on Facebook.

Also, the letter signifies the month, i.e. A = January.
They say that Chuck Norris is so tough that under his beard he has no chin, just another fist....
Chuck Norris does not play bass. He stares at the strings until they shake in fear. Back on topic, my main bass at the moment is my Fender Precision '74. It's not perfect. Needs a bit of a fret stoning on some of the upper frets, but is in good nick. Sounds fantastic! I have been toying with the idea with fitting it with an switchable active circuit. A previous owner made space for a battery before, so wouldn't be a big deal. When I used it with a heavier band to record, I found it lacked punch. But for now, it's not really needed. Haven't got any pics of it yet, but hopefull that will be recitfied soon. I've always wanted a great Precision. After a year of searching, trying out all manner of basses, I returned to my first true desire. And for now, it looks like I'm sticking for sometime to come.

Would love to be a bass singer! Welcome... and about gigging, never say never.
Really?! Did you manage to get onto ebay to stop the auction?
Messaged them, but no reply. The auction was a 3 day auction so was going to end soonish. The ex-owner of the bass (who was the one who informed me it was on eBay) and I worked to together to place really high bids on the item so no-one else would bid on it. Did the trick, but then the b*****d reported my other Gumtree listings as being fraudulent, which they promptly cancelled without any proof. The whole experience left a bitter taste in my mouth. All eBay care about are their listing fees. Basschat does more to combat fraud than I see eBay do usually.
sooo, this guy keeps selling the same bass, keeps the money etc etc etc and no-one's kicked his teeth in yet? am I right?
Might not even have the bass. One of my old Stingray was on "sale" on eBay when someone nicked pictures from my Gumtree listing. Happens all the time. Also, you can tell it is a bit dodgy. Zero feedback, and ridiculously low starting price for a bass like that in that kind of condition.

South East Bass Bash, Saturday 27th September: NEW INFO!
s_u_y_* replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
Am I going to be the only left handed person there ? So many pretty things to play but my hands are all back-to-front
1 in 10 people are left handed, so statistically speaking there's bound to be at least another one in that list.
