1. Bump! Trades added - Sterling SubRay 4 Squier VM Jazz
2. Thanks, yes its a really great bass but I'm playing my Precision mostly at the moment so this bass needs a good home.
3. I had one of these in the mid nineties, I was a big Therapy? fan and their bassist had one. I played it through a Trace rig and it had a sound like no other. I would love another one. Shame I'm skint as always!
4. Great, now I want a Stingray again.
5. TV promotion does take place but its not on adverts, usually it is via bassists being on music channels or TV shows using gear. A 45 minute set of an artist playing Fender guitars at Glastonbury on the BBC reaches out directly to a potential target market and doesn't cost Fender anything, unless they have paid to endorse the artist maybe. The great thing for older guitar makes is that even archive footage of a band from 50 years ago can act as an advert for a guitar to be purchased now.
6. I first heard this last night via the No Treble website. Stunning as ever. My first thought was that it reminded me of Teen Town. It was only this morning that I realised 'Dean Town' could be a play on words, something that is probably blindingly obvious to everyone else. I need some vitamins.
7. Now £180 Hello all Up here is my Squier Dimension 5 stringer. Its in amazing condition, no dents to the body, neck or fingerboard. Superficial swirling as to be expected in places. These are brilliant basses and the B string is one of the best I've heard. Link here to spec etc - http://www.pmtonline...CFcsK0wodSVcNIQ Collection ideally, I am in Wakefield, close to J38 - 40 of the M1 and J25 of the M62. I could meet within a reasonable distance. Trades added - Sterling SubRay 4 Squier VM Jazz 4 Thanks for looking! 8.
So is it now just me who's waiting?
Nope, I'm still waiting too.
9.
Hmm... any trades? (I'm trying to work out a way to trade for Interpol52's SRF700 - which I'm sure he'd trade for this.)
I sure would Mike! Hope you get something sorted!
10. I think its more that I can't! I can only just manage a fretless 4...
11.
Pity this is a 4 - if it were 5 I'd have it on my lap now!! Have a bump! G.
Thanks! You don't need 5 strings though!
12. I'm with you. I loved The Chinese Album too.
13. Play a few of each and then decide. The VM Jazz basses are amazing in my opinion, I have a MiM P bass (2013) and that is awesome too. With a good setup I don't think you will go wrong with either to be honest.
14. If you can get to Leeds then Howard at MacAmps is great. 07716860676 I know that might be a bit far from you though, but if you get really stuck then he is worth a try.
15. Thanks for the comments, its a great bass! It deserves better than me!
16. Hello everyone £350 Up here is my Ibanez SRF700 Portamento fretless bass. I got this in a trade recently and I love it. So why is it up here? As much as I enjoy playing fretless, its not really something that I will have much of a need for. As you can see from the photos, it is in great condition. There is a nick in the finish by the output jack but aside from that it is in excellent nick. It has flats on and really sings! An extended fretboard goes up to 30 'frets' and it has a piezo pickup to try and emulate a double bass tone. The spec is here - https://www.anderton...rown-burst-flat I am in Wakefield near J38 - 40 of the M1 and J25 of the M62. Generic PMT soft case included. I would rather meet as I have never shipped a bass before, but lets see what comes up. Sorry no trades on this, something has come up and I need the cash. Julian
17.
Depeche Mode. I was 16 in 1985, I'm 47 now and I still love them. Their music developed at the same pace as my music tastes matured; I loved their early electropop stuff in 1981 when I wad 12 by the time I was in my late teens/early twenties and had got into darker, heavier sounds they were right there too, with albums like Violator, Ultra etc. They're a long way now from what I listen to regularly now (and not a bass guitar in site!) but I still love them, and my band play a rocked up version of Personal Jesus in our live set.
I love Ultra, I think Billy Corgan did too when he wrote Adore!
18. These things never get better in my experience. Get rid and move on.
19. A Rickenbacker for sale on basschat! Hurry up before you know who sees it!
20. I had a 500w version of this, it was the loudest amp I have ever owned. The thought of a 1000w one terrifies me.
