Hello everyone Would trade for good condition Mexican Precision bass and cash my way. Up here is my American Fender Jazz bass. It was made in 2005 and has the brilliant S1 switch. It is in great condition, a few slight dings from being played live for 10 years but no cracks or chips in the paintwork, just light superficial surface marks. Previous owner raised the pole pieces on the pickups slightly to follow the radius of the neck, this makes the volume across all strings very even and balanced. Comes with Fender padded gig bag. Any questions then fire away! Thanks for looking.

Orange Terror SP2x12 combo and SP212 extension cab - both in black Will consider trades for Ampeg gear especially. Although I did try some Ashdown gear at the rehearsal space this week and was very very happy with the sound. So any Ashdown ABM gear might be an option too. Will split - Combo - £450 Cab - £275 They are the black versions of the Orange Terror 500 SP212 combo and the matching SP212 cab. This is an amazing setup and astonishingly loud and powerful. I play in a band with a drummer, 2 guitarists and a keyboard payer and even the combo alone can hold its own. The extra cab gives that extra oomph that you would expect when more speakers are added, useful for larger rooms. There has been some dispute as to the science behind these 2 x12 speaker cabs, but to me they work a treat. What you see here is a 4 x 12 setup. These are both in excellent condition (the combo is near mint in fact, I can't find a mark on it) and have protective covers. The combo has a thick padded Hotcovers one and the cab has a lightweight official Orange cover. Both the combo and the cab were purchased from the basschat community. I would prefer collection on these, I am in Wakefield close to J38, 39 and 40 of the M1 and J25 of the M62. Will ship at buyers expense. I am looking for an Ampeg SVT3 Pro and Ampeg 410HLF, so could be up for trades if you have these or similar. Ashdown ABM 500 and 410 or 610 setup is an option too.
I understand all that, but in this case it's nearly all the time. The band would have to be all the place for it to be in context. It's just sloppy.
Do you think it sounds sloppy when all of the band are playing? I think it fits together great! I listened to some of the Cliff Burton isolated bass tracks and they sound really odd on their own, especially the faster stuff.
The clank comes from keeping his fingernails long on his plucking hand
I thought it was the strings hitting the neck.
There are a few isolated bass tracks on YouTube. If you listen, you will here how sloppy he is! Poor. If they are him? Which I think they are!
The trouble with hearing the bass in isolation is that it can sometimes (not always) shatter the illusion. The bigger picture of hearing everything together is where the magic is, so if I hear an isolated bass track, 9 times out of 10 I am disappointed. What I am hearing are notes that are before, on or behind the beat but with no beat to give it any context/foundation. That sounds sloppy sometimes because it is on its own. I grew up listening to Iron maiden and Live after Death was the reason i picked up the bass. I must have watched the video once a day for months on end. Genghis Khan is one that I have always struggled with, Caught Somewhere in Time and The Evil That Men Do are real tests of endurance too.

One workable sound. But so so good. I have the Terror combo 500 and an extra sp212 cab. Louder than Bombs. -

Hello! The band I have just formed is looking for an experienced vocalist. The music is 90s/Britpop influenced covers. The ability to play rhythm guitar on some songs would be an advantage but it is not essential. We are looking for a strong vocalist and frontman to complete the lineup of experienced musicians. We cover songs by acts such as Pulp, Blur, The Stone Roses, Ocean Colour Scene, Shed Seven and Mansun amongst others. Must be able to rehearse once a week in the Leeds/Wakefield area with a view to start gigging when the songs are ready. If this sounds like something you or someone you know may be interested in then PM me for more information. Thanks for looking. Julian

Lovely bass but, nope, I just can't live with...

The only thing I have never ever shifted from hating is gold hardware. I have gone through phases of liking and then hating a lot of the other things mentioned in this thread. At the moment I have a black Jazz with a black pickguard, it looks great but give it a year and I might hate basses that have the same body and pickguard colour. I hated sunburst then loved it and hate it again now. Loved Stingrays but can't find one that I can get along with so I can't stand them now. Gold hardware has always been a no! -
I am pretty interested in these too. I have read a couple of things about the pickups being weak.

Another example of classic Noel Gallagher songwriting. I don't know how he gets away with it, this one still catches me out now. http://youtu.be/AXGdbr2z4Tk

I put an ad in the Items Wanted section as I was after an Orange sp212 cab in black. I already have the black sp212 combo and wanted to add the extra cab. Gary contacted me and we came to an arrangement for his cab. Absolute stress and hassle free transaction throughout. Great communication and a pleasure to talk bass with. The cab was really well packaged and reached me in exactly the condition described. Deal with in absolute confidence, cheers Gary.

I usually play bits and bobs of some of the songs that the band will be playing on the night. It helps me get an idea of what the room and PA sounds like.
