1. Hey man, great looking bass! Is this completely unmodified? oh and what year was it made?
2. Seriously cool dude!
3. Yeah im feeling quite content with my decision to go for a mex bass at them moment. Think 'm gonna side with precision over jazz, i too like the neck a little chunkier! There is definitely a romance in buying a US made Fender though, just not sure if i'd feel too comfortable parting with that amount just yet ahha!!
4. Hey all, I played a great mexican Jazz just yesterday at a music store in birmingham. The neck was so smooth! I also had a little play around on a VM which felt great, especially considering it was half the price. It did however lack a little sparkle that the mex had....the MIM just felt and sounded so crisp!! I tried out an ibanez too, though i wasnt sure of the model, i think it was SR300....and again it sounded great but the shape was a little slim for my tastes, it didnt feel chuncky enough! I plan on trying out some mexican precision basses soon, and i must add, its a pitty sunburst cost more !!
5. Hey man, I too am currently in the same predicament - without the added factor of the US made basses due to cost. If it helps, i've more or less settled on a standard mexican made I was made aware on this here forum of the inconsistency that still permeates the US basses. I played a couple squiers and MIM's a couple days ago and though the squiers sounded great, there was a smoothness to the MIM which i warmed to. Plus i was of the philosophy that the next bass i buy i plan to keep for quite some time, so i figured i should go for the Fender, i think i'd end up wanting one again in a couple years if i dont get one now!
6. Ok sure, I will give it a play before i buy, ssems to be the primary piece of advice thus far !!! I will make sure to check out a yamaha or two also, maybe an ibanez too!! So much choice haha!!!
7. Ahhh Im getting a good vibe from these Yamaha's, they seem to be popular amongst you all. And with regards to the ibanez, i think i'd probably opt for the ATK because of its chunkier build. Im used to playing a pretty large electro acoustic and anything to slim takes a bit of adjusting haha! A good point was made earlier about the Fenders by Truckstop. Aside from the obvious things like action, is there anything i should look out for on the Fender's? I can tell a good bass from a bad bass, but i'm not 100 per cent sure on what a 'good' Fender sounds like? Yeah im not sure i can see myself upgrading the pick ups in the squier, kinda draws me towards the Fender so i can get that sound
8. Thanks guys for all the advice thus far. I was heavily considering a VM squier, they seem to be popular, but the criticisms that Squier's get is always off putting. Being labelled as a 'beginners' bass sometimes makes me concerned about their longevity with redards to durability and versatility. I do often wonder why they get such bad stick in some places i look, maybe because 1 of their models recieves bad press people hold it against the whole brand!!! Thats interesting about the consistency of the MIA models, for their price range id hope that they are all consistently top quality :/. But yeah, if i settle on the MIM then i will definitely try before I buy, its ashame that Fender dont iron out this discrepancy with the MIM, £450+ is a huge chunk of money when you can't be sure of the quality. I also considered the Ibanez ATK200 and another ibanez, the Roadster from the SR series, these are within my budget and look to be good basses. I will certainly keep your advice in mind though and check out those VM's and Yamaha's, Cheers
9. Hey guys, Im sure this has been spoken of often but being new to the forum i just wanted some advice on what you think of Standard MIM Basses. I have read a ton of stuff online, all of which consists of very mixed judgements. I've been playing for around 4 years, my current electric bass is a £100 Westfield. Its not bad but i think an upgrade is needed . Let me know what you think, and if you can i'd appreciate any other basses you could recommend to me from personal experience if you arent to keen on the MIM Fenders. My budget isn't all that high either :/ Thank you for reading
10. Im very tempted,im from birmingham so if i was interested would it be alright to come check it out? Im new to the forum btw so wasnt sure whether to PM you? Regards
11. Hey man, how much are u selling this? is it £350 like it says in the title? i saw a post saying £500 is all? cheers
12.

Nice to see that people are proud to own squiers. Im a student and dont have too much extra money to spend, and i desperately want a new bass. Ive outgrown the Westfield ive been playing for the last 4 years. Very much fancied getting a vintage modified squier, just get put off by all the stuff people trash them about on the net :/ This reassures me a little
