Just bought a Marshall MB30 combo from David. He's a real pleasure to deal with - very prompt and helpful replies to questions. Packaging was top-notch and posting was speedy. What's not to like. Thanks again!

Thanks neepheid - just the ticket. I'll go heat up the soldering iron... -
Hi there, I've got a cylinder jack like this: and a wiring diagram like this: I'm not sure which bits of my jack correlate to the top, ground and ring in the diagram. Any advice gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance. Mike

Andy has just bought my CIJ p-bass and he couldn't have been more pleasant to deal with. Excellent communication, prompt payment and he's an all round top bloke. All the best. Mike

57 Reissue CIJ Precision Bass I picked up this lovely 57 reissue non-export CIJ P-bass last time I was in Japan but since I've acquired a Jazz it's not getting played much so it's time to find it a new home. It's in pristine condition (no dings or blemishes that I can see) and is strung with Ernie Ball flatwound strings (I forget the gauge but they're reasonably heavy and will last for years). It has a glossy maple fingerboard and vintage frets (small). Weight (according to my luggage scales) is 8.5 pounds and it balances well on the strap. Here it is on the Fender Japan page with all the details (important bits in English) such as nut width and fretboard radius. This one is in vintage white (more of a light cream colour to my eyes) and I've changed the standard single ply white pickguard to a nice tortoiseshell one. The only difference to the current photos on the Japanese site is that it has a strap button on the back of the headstock. As far as I'm aware, these basses are not widely available in the UK. One place that does have one (in black) is the Guitar Emporium (click here and scroll down) and it's going for £699. The serial number of the back is: CIJ R052456. According to http://www.guitardaterproject.org: "Your guitar was made at the Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan in the Year(s): 2004 - 2005 " Price: £365 posted (delivered by courier and carefully packed in a perfectly servicable though slightly battered hard case - made by Warick case judging from the W on the latches). If you fancy collecting from Bristol then it would only be £340. Photos: Full View - click here. Hard case for Spector Rebop (4 string)
hooveoperator replied to hooveoperator's topic in Accessories and Misc
I had a Rebop 5 until recently and I'm sure I carried it in a Hiscox Lite Flite with no problems, although it mostly traveled in a Warwick RockBag.
Thanks for the information. Do you know if it was the regular Hiscox Lite Flite bass case or the 'larger' bass case? Cheers, Mike -
Hi there, I'm looking for a hard case for my Spector Rebop. The headstock angles back too far for some jazz/p style cases. Any suggestions gratefully received. Mike

Ibanez AEB-10E - electronics problem
hooveoperator replied to hooveoperator's topic in Repairs and Technical
Wise words Geoff. Thinks it's time to admit defeat and seek out a professional. Fortunately we're not too far from Tom Waghorn here in Bristol and he's pretty good. Thanks for the help though. Cheers, Mike -
Ibanez AEB-10E - electronics problem
hooveoperator replied to hooveoperator's topic in Repairs and Technical
Well - no luck so far. Had a gander under the saddle and the strip of plastic under the peizo pickup (which is just like a big copper wire) had a bit of crud under where the E string would be. Thought that might be the problem so replaced it with one of the replacement strips and... it didn't work. Tried the replacment bridge but no dice and then moving the peizo a bit, again no luck. The pickup is transmitting some sound from the E string but it's about a quarter of the volume of the other strings. I'm contemplating removing the plastic sheath from the peizo but am a bit worried I might kill it altogether. Help! Mike -

Great stuff. Have also just found the spare saddle that it comes with so I can experiment with impunity! Will let you know if it works. Mike
