  1. EQ on the auxes looks to be available on the main app, just not CQ4You. There's a 4 band PEQ, RTA, feedback assistant, compressor and limiter (there's a GEQ button, but it doesn't seem to have a function) The link function gives you up to 3 stereo outputs, although you can mix and match, depending on your particular usage. Based purely on the app, I'd say it looks pretty good.
  2. If you swipe across on the assign channels page, you get the FX features. I couldn't find individual mix eq, which is something the QUyou app has, but then again that's a more expensive unit. Do the aux outs have eq on them on the main CQ app?
  3. I'd guess that would be the way to do it. I think it's because the CQ doesn't have stereo aux as standard (unlike the QU with 5&6, 7&8, 9&10) ETA - I think the link function is the same as they use on the inputs, where you can set up a stereo pair easily. Caveating to say I haven't got a CQ and I've not looked at the full app yet. It does make me wonder though, if I can link the mono auxes on the QU.
  4. A trip out for Fine Lines to the Moseley Folk and Arts festival. It was a lovely setup, with two stages set next to each other, with acts palying at alternate times. The back stage area was lovely, with everyone being very friendly and helpful. The stage crew were great and they put a lot of effort into making us feel relaxed and worked hard to give us a good front of house sound. The on-stage monitoring was a bit compromised, as they were using a single desk to cover both FOH and stage, so a lot of the eq-ing was set for what sounded good out front. Also, having to line check whilst another band was playing meant we couldn't fully judge what we needed. I decided to reinforce my (self-proclaimed) position of coolest looking member of the band by wearing sunglasses whilst playing. However, almostvas soon as we started playimg, I realised what a fatal mistake this was, as I struggled to see the fretboard, meaning I spent the majority of the first song with them in my mouth 🤣 There were a couple of minor niggles with our playing, which obviously were annoying for us, but overall the crowd seemed to enjoy our set and we avoided any stray bottles. One big plus, was that they seemed to have dedicated a caravan backstage entirely for my use...

  7. Absolutely agree. I think if they get the CQ20-B pitched right price wise, it's a definite contender. What I was alluding to, was them dropping off with the QU series (I'd think certainly the QU-SB would be up for the chop). They haven't released many software/firmware upgrades for a while, so I'm guessing they'll phase them out soon enough. It's also good to see that the official app is going to be multi-platform and the bluetooth playback is definitely going to be useful for people who want to control their background music (or even play along to a track).

  10. They look quite good. It seems like this will be the successor to the QU series, with the SQ being the next step up.
  11. I have a pair of Alto TS312's and really like them, although now I've also got access to a pair of RCF 945's, so they don't get used as much. I've run our full band through them (just kick and overheads on the kit) and they're ok, certainly good enough for most pubs. You don't get the full "thump" from the bass drum (to my ears at least) but when it's combined with the acoustic sound from the drums, it seems ok. What I would say, is if you can combine them with a sub (I use the Alto TS315s now) it makes a world of difference. Not only does it give you slightly more displacement for the kick, it also lets the tops focus on delivering mids and high frequencies, without the power hungry low frequencies.

  14. My '73 P-bass is a 4 bolt one, but I've seen a few '73 Strats and Tele's that have 3 bolt ones. It's likely they changed the guitars first, with the bass following.
  15. Our guitarist/singist has to do this with his shure's, albeit with medical tape. My suggestion of staples wasn't taken up for some reason...

  17. It's one specific unit that's temperamental (LD U308). I never get the chance to properly test various things with it, as it's virtually impossible getting everyine together at the same time to run tech stuff. The other two units are rack mounted and always seem to work ok, or it might just be that the folks using them don't complain as much.

The biggest difference is that channel 38/70 are analogue systems, whereas 2.4 and 5GHz systems are digital, which brings in some of the potential latency issues which get discussed quite often here. I have digital TX, into a digital board, with monitoring being either wired iem, or wedge (or none at all in many circumstances). I haven't been able to notice any latency when playing, but that doesn't mean others may not have the same problem. Adding digital IEM's may make it noticeable, but I'm tempted to look at a channel 38 system if I go down that route. We already use 3 channel 70 IEM's and one of them doesn't perform that well, so it's a bit hit and miss.
  19. I'm not EBS_freak, nor do I play him on television, but I can tell you that 863MHz is legal. It's channel 70 (863-865MHz) and is free to use, although you are realistically limited to the number of units you can use simultaneously.   20. There's the Ed Sheeran experience and Vicky Jackson as P!NK. I'd be more worried about "Reef*" Does that mean it's not the full band and the only original member is the guy who had the keys to the rehearsal room..? ETA, no, looks like it means they're playing on Thursday night.
  21. I swap between an A&H QU24 or QU-SB depending on the gig. I have the SB racked up, with splitters, as it's also used with the electronic band. They use it for their monitoring and usually left and right to FOH, but sometimes the house guys want to have full mix control. Overall, I slightly prefer the QU24, as I find the physical faders easier to get along with and it has more useful outputs. That said, I probably use the SB twice as often nowadays.
  22. That's a nice setup! We sometimes use the X-touch at the theatre for our XR18, but usually it's via the mixing station app.

  24. The band is on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (although we're not overly active on there now) I'm on those, plus Threads. I mainly use Instagram and Threads for music/band related stuff, photos of my bass, hats, stage outfit. I have Instagram set to automatically post to Facebook as well, which saves a bit of time and effort. My twitter posts vary between band spam and arguments with flat-earthers, with the occasional reminder to Esther McVey that she's supposed to be an MP. Video-wise, I have a YouTube channel, which is pretty poor, that I use to document the various gigs I do, either as a player in the band, or tech stuff for the electronic band. I use all of the platforms to spam that out as well.
  25. Has anyone given the Sennheiser XSW's a go? I'm wondering if they're worth a look as an upgrade to the LD systems we're using (MEI 1000 and U508). They're cheaper than the G4 system, but I wonder if it's false economy.
