I've actually just found my padded bag of leads and cables here at home!! Were they beside the rest of my gear in my storage cupboard? Nope! Were they beside my guitar bits and pieces? Nope! So, where were they? I found the bag on the top of my kitchen fridge / freezer! I've still no recollection of putting anything up there!!???

I've just realised that all of my kettle leads have been left in a padded bag at my last gig. Called the venue but the errant bag is nowhere to be seen! I've now found that no one local seems to sell IEC "kettle" leads!! Just had to order a bundle from an Ebay seller.

Relative values - the Gilmour auction
kevin_lindsay replied to tauzero's topic in General Discussion
There is so much history behind the Strats The black Strat was obviously his main guitar for the classic albums, and was used for the Pink Floyd reunion set at Live 8. The White Strat obviously has historical interest due to the 0001 serial number. Plus he used it on the Strat Pack anniversary concert at Wembley Arena. The Red Strat was his main guitar during the Division Bell era, plus it was the guitar he used when he played at Live Aid in 1985. -

I wonder if Guy using my white Jazz will add to its value? Nah, thought not! Hahaha -
Relative values - the Gilmour auction

The guidelines are always way off when it comes to celebrity instrument auctions. The black Strat should sell for a crazy amount. David Gilmour is a rare breed of rock star in that he doesn't crave wealth or adulation. This auction is to raise funds for charitable concerns. He did something similar in the early 90s when he sold his Knightsbridge home to raise money for Shelter (he briefly discussed that in his 2003 appearance on Desert Island Discs) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00937ls -
When Jamiroquai toured in Europe a few years back - on a "no gig" night, there was a wedding reception in the hotel the band were staying in. During the break in the wedding band's set, the backing band from jamiroquai did an impromptu few numbers. The audience had no idea who they were. Paul told me a few punters told them, "you guys are good. You should do that professionally"!!

Geddy's Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass

The delays in the delivery from Amazon are nothing to do with them - they need to wait until the second printing has been completed. For those of us who ordered from the original print run, you'll know how often the anticipated delivery date changed. Almost every week there was a new "expected delivery date". -
A lesser broadcast poem by The Bard: "C**k Up Your Beaver"!!! (honestly!!!) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03x0sr9

I actually sold my BG250-208 with the Fane upgrade this week. I advertised it on Facebook, and literally within 20 seconds I had sold it. Scott from the band December snapped it up (that's the band in the clip above). Great little, and powerful, combo with a great sound for its diminutive size.

The TC Electronic RS212 cabs might be worth checking out - rounder tone than the K cabs, and Andertons have them for a crazy deal price of £299 right now. https://www.andertons.co.uk/tc-electronic-rebel-stack-rs212-2x12-bass-cab

jess loureiro pick ups - what to buy instead?
kevin_lindsay replied to Combed20's topic in General Discussion
I've got two of the 51 style P-Bass pickups, a split P-Bass pickup, and a set of Jazz pickups. All of them sound fantastic. The delivery time is really slow, but if you can handle the wait, the end product is great. -

I've used his pickups three times. You order, then it's a few weeks until despatch, and then really slow mail delivery. Long wait to get the units, but they're really great pickups when they (eventually) arrive. -
I just sold my combo with the Fane upgrade to the guys in December (as used in the little soundcheck clip above). I advertised it, and it was sold within 30 seconds. They said, "it's a brilliant sounding amp for small gigs"

Best one I heard about was Nick Fyffe when he auditioned for bass role in Jamiroquai. He had also auditioned for the same position in a Jamiroquai tribute band. On the day he got the job with Jamiroquai, he drove home from Jay Kay's place. When he got back there was a voice message on his home phone from the Jamiroquai tribute band, saying that they'd passed on him as they didn't think he was the right man for the job!!

Tina Weymouth BBC bass programme in Jan
kevin_lindsay replied to arthurhenry's topic in General Discussion
Looks like even folk who aren't musicians liked the bass programme. Here's a Twitter comment from Danny Baker : ""Last night's @BBC4tonight documentary on the bass guitar was, despite what you may anticipate, wonderful. Some of their docs get stick but no channel is perfect. Must say several times the old eyes brimmed at the artistry and sound. Bravo. #TinaWeymouth" -
I bought two - wasn't expecting the delivery boxes to be so big!!! Hahaha I got the pair after hearing on this fitim about the special deal. I'm looking forward to making some noise with them. DrBike - The Aguilar TH500 should be great driving your mew cab mate.

That's just the way Alex made it, no preference for coil layout was stipulated. It sounds nice and even.

Not a funky green colour, and no matching headstock either, but a seriously good bass nonetheless!!
