1. Gavin bought a roller rack case from me, and helped me out with a smaller rack unit too. As ever, he was a star!
2. That must have sounded great - and must have weighed a ton! That all valve power amp.was a tank!
3. Well, this is without a doubt my favourite preamp I've ever used / owned. It's never caused me any issues and sounds great. So, why am I offering it for sale? The reason is pretty straightforward, I've had a few issues with my back over the last couple of years, so my "big rig" hasn't been taken out. It seems such a shame to have such a great piece of equipment, and not put it to use. So here's your chance to grab this great condition preamp. The user manual for the unit can be downloaded from the Internet (just Google "Aguilar DB680 manual") I'll include the 2U ABS rack in the sale price. It'll make a good housing for delivery, and will allow the new owner to keep the preamp in great condition. The asking price of £850 includes delivery within the UK. Here's the Aguilar DB680 in the current roller rack. I also have the footswitch to select between inputs 1 and 2, and also allows for selecting the Mute option while tuning up. 4. The DB680 is a fantastic preamp. It seems such a shame that I haven't been using mime recently (I've been using my lightweight rig on gigs since my back got tweaked). I think I'll have mine up for sale here soon?
5. He did the dep gig for Deep Purple when Roger Glover was unavailable. Nick got the call as he's the son in law of Deep Purple's drummer Ian Paice.
6. Hardcore Uproar by Together Reminds me of my days at University. Still sounds fantastic. Woop woop! http://youtu.be/0H9jQQVnU2g
7. Edinburgh tomorrow - should be a fun gig. I also bought my ticket today for the Snarky Puppy gig next May in Glasgow (the freebie live download track you get when you book via the band website sounds great too! )
8. Pity you weren't in Camden - The Bass Gallery is a treasure trove of gear.
9. my recently acquired McIntyre Guitars fretless Jazz Bass which Chris McIntyre made to my own specs. The colour is the "Smooth Mint" colour colour used on the Fiat 500 cars. 10. funnily enough, I was actually listening to this album earlier today. I agree that it's his best solo work - just so good!
11. My McIntyre Guitars fretless Jazz Bass headstock - finished in Fiat 500 Smooth Mint colour.
12. I've just watched the Quincy Jones set - wow!!!! Fantastic stuff (apart from the reedy voiced white bloke). Cory Henry was amazing!!! The set was so good that I'm actually 20 mins into watching it all over again! $
13. I seem to recall Dean Garcia saying he played on the original recording. The album was produced by Dave Stewart.
14. Here's your chance to grab a pristine TC Electronic MojoMojo pedal. I bought this last year but have never actually used it. So, it's time for it to go to a new home where someone will make use of its capabilities. £25 will get the pedal delivered to you in the UK. Any questions, please drop me a PM. Thanks for looking. 15. My McIntyre Guitars fretless and my white Jazz Bass.
16.
where's Mick Ronson?
Mick has sadly been in his grave since he died in 1993! As for the BBC Proms special - dear goodness, awful, wasn't it? Watching that on TV was a waste of electricity! Hahaha Saying that, at least we now have the fabulous "Five Years" documentary now showing - fabtastic stuff!
17. Chris Mcintyre has made me a great 4 string fretless Jazz Bass. Here's the main specs: 4 string fretless Jazz Bass - 34" scale. Body - 2 piece alder Neck - old growth rock maple Fingerboard - unlined ebony. Tuners - Hipshot Ultralite Bridge - Omega Bass Badass style Pickups - Fender Pure Vintage '64 Jazz Bass 3 band EQ - custom wired Nordstrand preamp. Colour - Fiat 500 "Smooth Mint". Pickguard - 3 ply parchment. Fingerboard dot markers - Luminlay "glow in the dark" dots. The main feature on any bass is the neck, and how it feels to the player. Chris used a piece of old rock maple - due to it being well seasoned, it means that it's extremely stable. The fingerboard edges have been rolled, which makes the neck feel really comfortable in the hand. The jazz body shape is slightly smaller than a traditional Fender one, and has a really nice rear "belly chamfer". Tge battery compartment for the active EQ is easily accessible via flip open unit on the rear of the body. The neck heel on the body is also chamfered, with the neck being profiled at the body join to follow the curve of the body. This makes the neck comfortable to play up at "the dusty end" of the fingerboard. The headstock of the neck is also finished in the same Fiat 500 Smooth Mint colour as the body. The playability of the bass is fantastic. The instrument balances well when seated, and also when standing. The neck is really even over the whole fingerboard. The active EQ cam be bypassed by pulling up on the first volume knob of the control layout. The control layout is as follows: Neck pickup volume (pull up to bypass the active EQ). Bridge pickup volume Stacked Bass / Treble active EQ Midrange active EQ (pulling up on this knob changes the frequency of the midrange being tweaked). Output jack is mounted on an oval plate in the side of the body. Strap buttons - Straplocks The nut is made from Corian. As Chris hand crafts each one of his instruments, whatever you require or want, he can accommodate your wishes. Plus, his decades of experience means that he can suggest, or guide you, in what "works". The Luminlay side dot markers are a cool touch. These provide a "glow in the dark" facility to aid you when you're playing in a darkened environment. Here's some pics of the bass: Headstock Here's something that you wouldn't notice until you removed the scratchplate. One of Chris' bugbears, is having to repair stripped screw holes in the body wood on customer's instruments every other day. In order to ensure that this won't happen on his own instruments, Chris uses brass inserts on the body fir the pickguard, control plate, and pickup mounting screws. And here's me trying it out the day I collected it. If you're looking to have an instrument made to your own requirements, then Chris is someone you really should check out. www.mcintyreguitars.com
