1. Mississippi Queen by Mountain Be Thankful For What You've Got by William DeVaughn Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes. I'm Doing Fine Now by New York City All of them fantastic tracks.
2. Okay, so some acts had more than 1 "hit". Let's just revel in the pop-tastic glory of the main hits of the acts listed. I've made up a play list of the songs on here. Fantastic stuff so far.
3. Anyone looking for a high output single coil P-Bass pickup? If so, I'm looking to sell the Seymour Duncan SCPB-3 unit I currently have in my Pink bass. To keep a vintage look, when I got the pickup, I scraped off the silver "Seymour Duncan" logo from the top of the unit. I didn't think the logo looked right on a vintage looking instrument. I also darkened the pole pieces as the oversized slugs didn't have the look I was aiming for. The pickup sounds really throaty - lots of output. The only reason I'm looking to change it is that I prefer a lower output sound. If you want it, I'll de - solder it from my bass and get it sent off to you - delivered in the UK for £20. 4. The spraying of the body and headstock were passed on to a guy who specialises in spraying custom motorcycle helmets. I've had no update photos to post as I haven't been through to see Chris for a while. Plus other personal expenses meant I has to delay the build for a bit. I'll get some pics for everyone soon as I'll be through to see Chris again in a couple of weeks' time.
5. "7teen" by The Regents "Waiting For A Star To Fall" by Boy Meets Girl
6. I've always played it with the open A string accompanying the figure up the top end of the neck. I saw Andy Fraser playing it that way on a clip of Free playing live on some TV show. It really makes a difference to the resulting sound.

8.
The Clash - "London Calling" could be re-released as an EP: 1. London Calling 2. Lost In The Supermarket 3. Armegideon Time
Yup, I bought the London Calling album on double heavyweight vinyl last month. Fantastic opening track, then just a load of forgettable filler after that!
9. And Oroh Angiama played bass for her live at the outset of her recording / gigging career. Nice guy
10. I've had a few Snarky tuners over the past few years. Pretty nice little units. However, I got the TC Electronic Polytune clip on before Christmas - a bargain at £20!!! Works great. 11. I had a last minute dep a couple of weeks ago. I only had a couple of hours to load my car and listen to the songs before heading to the gig. My friend Paul Turner texted this piece of advice for me: "Oh no. Bit of advice... Lock any particular lines but then just jam along with every tune moving straight on to next without dwelling on anything. Your brain will be locked in and your ears will do the rest on the gig. If you have 2min per song then don't exceed. Any you know write the key and move on."
12. A guy who can writs the following lyrics is someone to be treasured in my opinion Excerpt from "Alone Again Naturally" "Looking back over the years, and whatever else appears, I remember I cried when my father died, never wishing to hide the tears. And at sixty five years old, my mother, God rest her soul, Couldn't understand why the only man she had ever loved had been taken. Leaving her to start with a heart so badly broken. Despite encouragement from me, no words were ever spoken. A d when she passed away, I cried and cried all day. Alone again, naturally." Sheer poetry.
13. I bought myself a Miles Davis 20 album CD boxset, which includes this one. So, if anyone here wants this album as a freebie, just let me know and I'll post it to you. 14. I received this a couple of days ago - pristine condition original double vinyl album. Playing along to the title track is so enjoyable. 15. I used the men's restroom between sets - and this happened! I could hear the guys on stage - waiting for me!!! 16. Drop Chris Mcintyre an email. He's a star. I've used chris for decades - in fact, I used to fly to London to get my instruments worked on when he was based there. He now has a workshop beside the Easter Road football stadium in Edinburgh. http://www.mcintyreguitars.com/mcintyre-guitars-clients.html
17. This thread has prompted me to buy a mint copy of the pleasuredome double LP. Should be with me in a day or two. Playing bass along to the 13 minutes of the opening track is still mega fun. Love it!
18. Dave is a busy boy - gigging, and being an all round great bloke.
19. The Peter Gabriel live DVD and album - "Secret World Live" is a fantastic piece of work. http://youtu.be/KN1zO-ejJvE
20. I was knocked sideways by the news this morning. I've spent most of today feeling tearful. He was a huge part of my musical life, it seems surreal that he's gone. The new album is great too. Someone said today that they'd felt like "the Elvis of our generation has passed away". To me he was far more influential than Elvis. I actually said hello to David in Manhattan a few years back. It seemed so odd to see someone, who always appeared to be such an icon, in an everyday setting. I said, "my goodness! David Bowie! Don't you look great?". To which he smiled and replied, "why thank you my good man", and we parted. I feel shellshocked.
21. I love the new album. I've been listening to it on headphones today - so many great textures. As for the packaging - black print on black paper - makes reading the lyrics a real chore!
22. Just practice. Things eventually fall into place. The more you play and practice, the easier it becomes to remember, or pick up, the tune you're working on. If you're getting frustrated , just remind yourself that you're not as bad as this guy: http://youtu.be/Vms_6_TSQuc
