  1. Mister Big Stuff?
  2. I actually loved Julie's set! As for the Cure - brilliant!!
  3. Janet Jackson - pish!!
  4. Indeed! P-Bass-tastic!!
  5. I discovered this guy last Friday via the "That Pedal Show" podcast. Stunningly beautiful acoustic playing and singing. So good that I immediately bought his last two albums from amazon.
  6. Going to see Martin Taylor tomorrow in Glasgow.
  7. I've got a TC Electronic RH750 head which has the built in Spectracomp compressor. It's a handy tool to rein in unwieldy bass sounds (P-Basses immediately spring to mind). However, for the past while I've been using my hand painted edition of the JHS Pulp 'n Peel v4. It also works as a DI unit to feed the front of house.
  8. I've got a few instruments around my place, and others that are "out on loan" to friends and family. All completely justified - they're in no way an indulgence! Hahaha However many basses / guitars you have, there's always a hankering after "the next one". As for tweaking the instruments, I adjust the truss rods when required (usually due to the summer and winter climate differences), and clean the fingerboard each time I change the strings. Does anyone else do the "clean the dust out from under the strings" thing on a regular basis? - where you use a cloth to wipe away the dust on the scratchplate / body under the strings area?
  9. Are you thinking of Mani from The Stone Roses 'Rickenbacker?
  10. I just received one of these cool bridges in the mail today. I also ordered a set of the stainless steel inserts to replace the standard brass ones (the inserts were an absolute bargain from Bass Direct - £3.50 for the set of 6 different sizes, plus £2 postage - result!).
  11. I may well be wrong. Whatever bass it is, it's an ugly beast! Hahaha
  12. The bass in the clip is his old Robelli bass
  13. Incidentally, if you need replacement stainless steel saddle inserts to change the brass ones, you can get a full set from Bass Direct for £5.50!! (£3.50 for the inserts and £2 for postage - bargain or what?? !)
  14. Bollocks!! I ordered myself one of these bridges just yesterday!!! Good luck with the sale mate - fantastic unit.
  15. I'm going to see Little Steven at the Glasgow O2 Academy tomorrow night - should be fun!
  16. I got a Leslie cab on Ebay a couple of years ago for.... £30 !!!!! Bargain or what???
  17. I'm off to revisit my old Deep Purple albums now - love it!!!
  18. Questlove and Pino - D'Angelo Manu Katche, or Jerry Marrotta, and Tony Levin - Peter Gabriel Sting and Stewart Copeland - The Police Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr - The Beatles Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr - U2 Geddy Lee and Neil Peart - Rush John Deacon and Roger Taylor - Queen
  19. It's episode 18 of series 4
  20. Here is a link to the episode : www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0004b87
  21. I bought one of these "fold flat" trolleys to ease the lugging around of my cabs. Best £19 I've spent in years! (the wheels automatically flip out when you fold down the loading tray) https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F303114745147
  22. I bought two of the RS212 cabs at the sale price - mega sounding units! I fitted four adhesive foam squares to act as feet. I also got a couple of custom made covers to protect the finish.
  23. String life depends upon various factors - how you play, and also your finger sweat!! I've got DR hi- Beams on my white basses, the Jazz has had the same strings on for about a year and a half, and still sound great - nice and glassy, with the classic solid bass fundamental. However, when Guy Pratt used that very same bass, with a fresh set of Hi-beams on it, the strings were completely gubbed after two weeks. Sounded like someone kicking a cardboard box down the road! Hahaha. My brother (who is a guitarist), can turn unwound stings completely black within the space of a single gig!! All due to his acidic sweat. Yuck. (I've attached a pic of Guy sound checking with the bass when he first borrowed it).
  24. Not a pic of me alongside him, but this is a pic of Pino when we were out grabbing some breakfast together.
