I've done gigs with some rather oddly named acts supporting us. Worst ones (both in name and "musical" content) were:
The Donkey Spoke - sounds like some odd bike accessory.
Churn - sounds like a grind band, or a bunch of folkies, but were in fact a christian rock group (who were absolutely sh*te!!)
And then there was this bunch (no explanation needed as to why they were awful)
Darkie
Bob Geldof is okay hy me. He was playing in The Fruitmarket venue in Glasgow (really fantastic place to play) about 10 years ago. His guitarist (an ex blockhead no less) has trouble before the gig - his Parker Fly went on the blink. I loaned him a replacement Fly for the gig that night. The nect day I received a coupke of bottles of very nice wine asca thank you, and a call from Sir Bob to say thanks for helping out. Seems like a decent sort to me.
Yeah, your bass has a poly finish mate. LOTS of elbow grease and sandpaper needed to remove that. Or, you could use a heat gun and scraper, but that leaves the wood prone to scorching if you're not familiar with using a heat gun.
You can get it via ebay, that's where I got mine from mate. Soak it onto a rag and it simply wipes off - like a girl removing her nail varnish!

Remember, it only works on nitrocellulose lacquer finishes - NOT on poly or acrylic finishes.
I drive a Peugeot 307cc convertible. Amazingly, the boot can take an Aguilar DB410 cab no problem. I need to stash the basses and amp in the seat area though.
The "bass of doom" was bought by Rob Trujillo (of Metallica) as he wanted the Pastorius family to have it back. The owner of a guitar store in Manhattan had it, and wouldn't give it back to the family. So, Rob stepped in and did a magnificent thing. The guitar store in Manhattan is one which won't get any business from me anytime i'm in NYC.
Sorry bud, I spoke to him this morning and forgot to to chase up the Shuffler details. Paul was driving to Jay's house to begin rehearsals for the upcoming Jamiroquai gigs (which start this Friday). I'll send him another text.
Ive had the Mark Everrett (the bloke from the band Eels) book recommended to me as it's supposed to be very good. Ive just ordered it from Amazon, I'll let you know how it goes.
