1. Yeah, I was intrigued too. The comment regarding them being really heavy made me think, am I missing something here"?
2. I've got a few sets of Fender Jazz Bass ashtrays here at home. Both covers weigh less than a single pickup. To cause a bass to "roll forward", they'd need to be made out of a couple of bricks
3.
Here's the build thread mate http://basschat.co.uk/topic/217598-olympic-white-6662-style-jazz-bass-build/ That is a beautiful looking bass. Where are the various psrts from?
4. Thanks for the new comments guys. The Olympic White Jazz Bass which I recently completed turned out really well. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/217598-olympic-white-6662-style-jazz-bass-build/ A guitarist friend of mine is a huge Rush fan, so I'm looking at doing a replica Arctic White Gibson 335 like Alex Lifeson's own guitar. That'll be a big job.
5. No-one mentioned Thin Lizzy's "Live and Dangerous" yet?
6. Axesrus are fantastic. Items usually arrive the day after they're ordered.
7. Ive sent basses and guitars to France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Monaco, Italy, Denmark - all using www.interparcel.com - never had a single problem with any of the deliveries
8. Yeah, but it's set VERY low. To be fair, I use the same rack forlarger gigs, just utilising more cabs
9. The Genz / Epifani setup looks great! Here's my rig I use on small-medium sized gigs: Gator roller rack case - with: Korg rack tuner Aguilar DB680 preamp Chevin 1,200 watt power amp Aguilar DB410 cabs Plus, of course, my trusty bass. 10. Your bass works right now as the electrical screening paint in the cavity is completing the circuit (albeit far less efficiently than a wire wikk do), do, yes, get a proper earthing wire between the circuit and the output jack.
11. My setup from last Thursday my rig is: Aguilar DB680 preamp Korg rack tuner Chevin 1,200 watt power amp (which, of course, was set low! Hahaha) the rack is housed in a Gator roller rack case - very handy. Aguilar DB410 cabinet And, my trusty bass. 12. Good luck Paul, hope the gig is fun for you.
13. I played in a bar with 10 people in the audience! Still, the bar paid us £200, gave us free food (delicious), and free drinks all night. I'd quite happily do that every night! Hahaha
14. The monthly bandwidth replenishes on the 21st, so only a couple more days to go I just checked - it's actually the 28th before the bandwidth replenishes.
15. The song list has some fantastic tracks in there. The 80's style would be a great draw for an audience.
16. Repro paper in oil capacitors, and carbon resistors. When the new CTS 250k/500k stack pots arrive, I'll try out the original style wiring.
17. I loved it, it made me remember just how great a band they are. Right, I'm off to dig out my Quo CDs!
18. The bass is getting a public airing today in Bar Gumbo in Glasgow. Yippee!!
19. Andy McCluskey from Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark also stribgs his bass "upside down". I've got a guitarist / bassist friend of mine - Marcello Marinelli - who is a leftie. He learned to play using his older brother's right handed guitars - simply turned round to the left hand position, with the low E closest to the floor. It was funny at the Wembley Guitar Show years ago when he asked to try out a Gibson Les Paul, and then flip it over to play . The rep said " wow, I've never seen that before". Chello's older brother Rico was also there, and he lost his right hand aged 16 in a horrific accident. He too asked to try out a guitar. The rep said, "are you going to play this one upside down too"? The look on his face was even better this time around as Rico answered "no, I play right handed", then proceeded to take off his right hand and replace it with a new one specially made to hold a plectrum! The poor rep must have thought he was being filmed for a hidden camera tv show! Hahaha
20.
Great choice..is this Mike and The Mechanics?
this clip is from the Strat Pack concert at Wembley Arena. It also featured Brian May, David Gilmour, Albert Lee, Gary Moore, and loads of others. I was there and it was a great night,
21. Looks great mate.
