Fantastic bsnd! Seeing them play live on New Year's Eve 1981 in Edinburgh changed my life as a bass pkayer. The band were fantastic, and I still love them. However, the big inspiration fir me was the young unknown bassist playing with the support band. Support act was Jools Holland just after he had left Squeeze. The bass player? Pino Palladino. I've read all three of The Police members' autobiograohies, every one of them being great reads, with Andy Summers one being a particularly engrossing read.

It's the luck of the draw whether you get stung with import duty. The limit at which charges are levied is now £18. I've had items arrive with no charges, and had many others with big charges compared to the actual buying cost (compounded by tge Parcelforce admin charge). If you factor in the charges and don't get hit, its a bonus

What was the name of the second album by M (yup, of Pop Musik fame), where Level 42 were the musicians on it? I had the album ages ago

Reading this thread has made me revisit my old Level 42 albums. I bumped into Mark King in a Glasgow restaurant just after the Standing In The Light album had been released, and the band were currently on tour (circa 1983). I was a 19 year old bass nut who wasn't really aware of the bands music other than the "Living It Up" single which was in the charts at that time. Mark was great, we talked about basses and he said I should give John Diggens a call. I was invited along to the gig later and it was a completely incredible gig. I was blown away by Mark's playing - total powerhouse on his Jaydee. I did call John diggens, and had him make me a Jaydee bass (a double octave neck GA24), which I picked up from his Moseley workshop. Great menories. Hi Dragan, sorry to hear about the hassle mate. For those interested, Dragan's band supported U2 when they played their famous gig in Sarajevo. And, Bono sang on one of their songs too, pretty cool. He's a really great guy, totally honest and trustworthy.

That's great! I am friends with a local band called Rosewood. The drummer said he'd like to play with other musicians and so he now plays with 3 bands (including Rosewood). The rest of the Risewood guys are fully supportive of him, and go to the other bands gigs to support the drummer. I hope your "main band" can be as good natured.

I stumbled across these programmes yesterday morning in the iPlayer. I saw the R&B kind first. It was so good I went bs k and watched the previous two episodes back to back. Fantastic stuff.
