  2. Wonderful group. In fact, I actually bought the Citizen Steely Dan boxset today.
  3. I'm watching it now. Great band, Noddy Holders voice is fantastic
  4. No problem Tom, hope the pickup works out okay for you
  5. I think most players have a certain instrument which they associate with a player, or band, which was a key influence on them (or recalls a happy time in their past). Sometimes the image of what it would be like to play that instrument, is better than the actual reality. My key reference bass was always Pino's Musicman Stingray fretless. When I actually got to play it, I thought "this is nice, but it's just a normal bass".
  6. Happy birthday matey, hope you have a great day
  7. I missed that, I'll try and track it down on YouTube
  8. Surely selling a bass involves some common sense in regards to packing it? I've sold numerous basses which have been shipped throughout tge UK, to Europe (Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Portugal), and to the USA. I've never had any problem as I always make sure the instrument is in a hard case, and it's well packaged up. If someone advertised a sale with the caveat "shipping at buyers risk", I'd automatically think "this seller is dodgy" and I'd avoid having anything to do with the seller.
  9. I've not heard about these strings before. Keepnus informed about how they last.
  10. Cool!
  11. When I was talking to Pino on the morning of The Who's Glasgow gig last month, he said that he's going out on tour with D'Angelo again next, and he's recording an album with Ziggy Marley. Busy boy
  12. Will Lee's Beatles tribute band -The Fab Faux
  13. Hugh Reed and The Velvet Underpants
  14. Eow! I bought the boxset when it cam out - it cost me over £100!!!!!
  15. Chopping implement -"axe". Enquiring - "ask". That one annoys me,
  16. I hooe his health issues have some positive development soon. No fun.
  17. I've done gigs with some rather oddly named acts supporting us. Worst ones (both in name and "musical" content) were: The Donkey Spoke - sounds like some odd bike accessory. Churn - sounds like a grind band, or a bunch of folkies, but were in fact a christian rock group (who were absolutely sh*te!!) And then there was this bunch (no explanation needed as to why they were awful) Darkie
  18. That's bad news re the Beeb getting rid of Mike. Thanks for giving us the link to his podcast mate.
  19. Don't do a "Del Boy" when relaxing at the bar matry! Hahaha. Hope the gig is fun for you.
  20. Bob Geldof is okay hy me. He was playing in The Fruitmarket venue in Glasgow (really fantastic place to play) about 10 years ago. His guitarist (an ex blockhead no less) has trouble before the gig - his Parker Fly went on the blink. I loaned him a replacement Fly for the gig that night. The nect day I received a coupke of bottles of very nice wine asca thank you, and a call from Sir Bob to say thanks for helping out. Seems like a decent sort to me.
  21. Just been reading John Taylor's biography. He ssys bass duties were handled by himself and Sting
  22. I'm watching Johnny Marr on the red button instead
  23. Here you go mate http://basschat.co.uk/topic/163365-refinishing-fender-strat/
