1. My copy arrived this morning - the fan pack is really a great idea. Mega magazine. The CD book format is very cool also. I'm enjoying the album so far. I'll give it s few listens before I make any comment - I don't want to make any rash statements. Saying that, I'm enjoying the looser, "live in the studio" feel to the album. The track "The Wreckers" has a "Live At Leeds / The Who" vibe to it.
2. Jean-Jacques Burnel from The Stranglers!!!!! I heard that fabulously grungy bass sound and thought "I want to do THAT"!!!
3. No sign of the disc here either! Saying that, we were told it'd be delivered on Monday 11th. So anything sooner will be an unexpected bonus. Still doesn't stop me from wanting it NOW though!!! Hahaha
4. Eh? Billy's Attitude bass was developed by Yamaha based upon his modified Fender Precision bass!!! Do the forum guys think his Yamaha model was created after s dream he had or something?
5. Had a look - what's with mr vain at the top of each page? I'll stay with BassChat!
6. I've not received any notification either! I was under the impression that it would arrive on Monday 11th Jume. How come some people are getting it earlier?
7. I've ordered the Classic Rock pack too - I'm really looking forward to getting it on the 11th June.
8. It's so good seeing Trevor back playing and producing again after the truly tragic events of a few years ago. The man is an inspiration!
9. Sold a double bass to Stu - really nice guy who drove over from Newcastle to meet me. Effortless deal - top bloke.
10. Sold to Stu!! Nice meeting up with you mate. Hope your journey home was nice. Thanks again, Kevin
11. I sold my Fender Custom Shop 1961 NOS Fender Jazz Bass to John. Really nice guy to speak to, who did everything exactly as he said to complete the deal. Great communications throughout. Jon is a really great guy to deal with. Thanks again mate, I hop you enjoy your new bass.
12. I'm the same, if I agree a deal with someone, I follow it through. It's the sane whether I'm buying or selling. I sold a Sweetsound Mojo Vibe to a guy in Portugal and the courier delivery ended up costing me £45 due to the buyer being in a remote location (that was around £25 more than I had expected). I never asked the buyer for extra on the delivery as we had already agreed the sale price
13. The bass looks mega!!!! Plus, the video review idea is very cool
14. Jonthebass just bought this beauty!!! It'll be making it's way to him next week. Thanks mate, I hope you have fun with your new bass!
15. Really nice guy to speak to. Jon just bought my Fender Custom Shop 1961 Jazz Bass. I hope you have a great time with your new bass mate!
16. It's great fun, and the non-steel strings mean we electric bass players can actual tokay the thing without pain - yippee! It also sounds lovely and full.
17. I've just booked for the Glasgow gig! The way I look at it? It's just the cost of a couple of sets of decent bass strings, and I'm gonna get a great night of music which will inspire me - sounds like a decent deal to me?
18.
The label says "Tatra by Rosetti. Stradivarius model". It's just a nice, decent sounding starter bass.
19.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that when Jimmy Moon repaired the head box, he also installed side dot markers on Thr fingerboard edge - helps us non double bass players get to grips with where we're supposed to be on the neck. 20.
Here's pics showing the break repair - well out of the way of your fretting hand so it has no impact on the playability or sound of the instrument. 23. I had this up for sale a couple of months ago, but withdrew it from sale as I had the opportunity to do some recording with it. It's now just sitting at home and I'd prefer it to be used rather than bring a gorgeous piece of furniture. Here's the original sale listing again:
My double bass looks great in the corner of the room, but it's not getting used. So, I'm thinking, maybe there's someone out there who fancies learning to play one and always thought about taking the plunge? I bought this used for £400 and had it literally2a minutes when I knocked it over and snapped the head off it outside the bloke's house where I bought it! Aaagh! I took it straight to Jimmy Moon in Glasgow, and he put my mind af ease straight away. "Kev, it's a clean break, and to be honest, nearly all double basses get head repairs at some stage". The repair cost me £170 and the bass plays better as Jimmy (himself a double bassist) set it up. I've included pics of the break repair. It has absolutely no impact on the playability or sound. The bass has Non-steel core strings, do you can actually fret the notes and get a lovely deep "woomp" from the strings. For any electric bassist who's tried to play steel strung double basses will know what I'm talking about!! Steel strings = ouch!!!! Hahaha Anyhow, I'm based in Motherwell, and the price of £350 includes the padded gig bag. 24. The 1961 Custom Shop Jazz Bass was only available in Black or Olympic White in 2011 (and also this year), so the custom ordered "chocolate 3 tone sunburst" finish is a rather rare beast! http://products.fendercustomshop.com/products/search.php?partno=1502110880
