1. The Ashbory basses are cool! Saying that, mine doesn't get used at all, so I've just put my black one up for sale here on the site.
2. I just saw that someone sold their blue Ashbory via the site and I thought, "my black Ashbory isn't getting used much". So, I thought I'd see if anyone wants to give it a good home. It's ungigged - immaculate condition. There's a spare set of strings with 2 replacement G strings in there. Comes with the padded Ashbory gigbag also. An Ashbory strap is included - as is the infamous "Slyde-Rite" pouch! Ooh-er missus! For those unfamiliar with how the bass sounds - here's Tony Levin playing his on Peter Gabriel's "Lovetown" track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMduX93av0I Price - £150 including delivery to mainland UK Go on, treat yourself!!
3. Hey Paul - the cash is in my account! Yippee!. The bank actually didi it faster than the courier - who would have thought? Your bass should be with you today (Monday)
4.
I'd love that '50 Precision (on the couch) better! still got the flats on it,Kev? Dragan
It's currently strung with DR Hi-Beams for a grindy open P-Bass sound - very cool!
5.
Oh yeah, the money - was meaning to contact you about that, you see its like this..... Really looking forward to getting the bass on Monday - admired it from afar on here and on TalkBass in the past Cheers Paul
hahahahaha. Hey mate, I know where you live! hahahaha Hope you enjoy the bass
6. Well, the bass was uplifted by the courier company on Friday - should be with Paul (the buyer) on Monday. The money for the bass should be with me soon also - let's see who's quicker - the courier company or the bank? hahahaha I hope you enjoy the bass Paul, it really is a fabulous instrument.
7. Well, Paul was first to the post and it looks like the bass will be on it's way to him very soon Thanks to everyone who got in touch with me so quickly!
8. Well, here is an opportunity to grab my immaculate Surf Green Nordy VJ5 for yourself. The body is lightweight Swamp Ash and the fingerboard is highly figured birds eye maple (so figured it looks like a bowl of rice krispies!!) Circumstances in Kev's world have changed, so this beauty is on offer to someone who'll provide a good home for it. The bass is passive using the traditional Vol, Vol, Tone layout and the single coil pickups are in the classic 60's position. The bass comes in a hard G&G case also. I guess we all know what kind of price these basses go for, so here's one in "as new" condition for £1,150 delivered in the UK!!! Go on, treat yourself!!
9. Wow - that was quick!!! Money in bank before I have even received the delivery address details from the buyer!!
10.
could you say where you are please?
Hi there, I'm based in Motherwell in Scotland.
11. Hi guys, I've been quiet for a few months here. I think the last time I was on this forum was when I sold the pink Nordy VJ5 (that bass sounded AMAZING!!! It was purely the colour I wasn't 100% satisfied with. My forthcoming pink Nordy 4 string P-Bass will be in the correct shade of pink - should be with me in a few weeks from now). Anyhow...................... "How many basses do you need?" I am asked all the time by my other half. The answer is always the same.... "just ONE more!" So, as I am planning and plotting my way towards my next purchase, I have my ungigged fretless Stingray 4 for sale. Honey burst, 2 band EQ spec, and comes with the Musicman rectangular moulded fitted case. £700 delivered in the UK.
12. To everyone who contacted me - thanks so much for the interest. Marty was the first to decide he wanted it, so the bass will shortly be heading off to Austria. Thanks again guys, your enthusiasm for the bass is really appreciated. Also, I'll be sure to post pics of the build and finished product of the forthcoming Nordy VP5 precision bass as it takes shape.
13.
Nice! got any sound clips?
Both pickups full on Bridge pickup soloed Neck pickup soloed EQ set flat Just a quick clip to give you some idea of the sound
14.
Oh Kev!! I've said it before, but I'll say it again - That bass is gorgeous. I seriously wish I had the cash for this one. Your green Nordy 5 is still the best 5 string I think I've ever played.
Thanks Higgie! The pink one actually plays even more effortlessly than the Surf Green one! The plan was to send the bass back to Carey to sell via his website, but I think it would be nice if the instrument could be kept here in the UK? Whoever ends up with the bass will be VERY happy, the instrument is a fantastic piece of equipment.
15. Well, it's been a while since I have been here on the forum. Nice to catch up with what's been happening. As for me - well, some of you will already have seen the gorgeous Nordy VJ5 Carey made for me and which I took delivery of in April this year. Here's the specs: Alder body Shell Pink Finish 2 x Nordstrand NJ5 "60's wind" Maple neck Brazilian rosewood fingerboard White edge binding & dots Matching Shell Pink headstock Protec Contego gigbag http://www.protecstore.com/Contego_Bass_Gu...x?CategoryID=74 I am selling the bass, even though it is without doubt the nicest sounding and playing 5 string, rosewood fingerboarded, jazz bass I have ever had the pleasure to play, simply because the shade of Shell Pink isn't what I wanted. The colour is exactly the same as the vintage reissue Fender Shell Pink, but I was looking for a slightly different shade. Oh well. Plus, Carey is making me a 5 string P-Bass at present. The bass in this spec from Carey is currently $2,900 incl gigbag, then you have the delivery cost to the UK, plus the joys of our UK import tax (3.5%, then the lovely 15% VAT added on to the cost of the bass, shipping AND import tax - aaagh!!! I am asking £1,100 delivered in the UK. The instrument is in absolutely pristine condition - it is literally "as new" Any questions - drop me a line! Tom Barney (MD / bassist for Steel Dan) playing the bass at the Jan 2009 NAMM show Rufus Philpot playing the bass at the NAMM show also
16. Great guy to deal with. Doug bought a set of Fender Somarium Cobalt Noiseless jazz pickups from me. Excellent communication throughout.
17. This CD is now sold - thanks for the interest guys. Okay, I have Tal's album for sale - £6.00 incl postage It's her own album and features Wayne Krantz, Geoffrey Keezer, Keith Carlock and Seamus Blake. The CD is is brand new condition, and is the genuine article - NOT A BURNED COPY OR BOOTLEG!! - anyone interested? I'll also throw in a burned copy of Jeff Beck's "Appearing live at Ronnie Scott's" CD as a freebie too http://www.abstractlogix.com/xcart/product...productid=23258
18. I bought a Fender Jazz while in New York a couple of weeks ago - Olympic White nitro with matching headstock. Kind of expensive, but looks great! Anyhow, Carey Nordstrand sent me some single coil vintage style single coil jazz pickups and I thought, "I'll stick those on the new Jazz Bass". The upshot being that I have a pair of effectively new Noiseless jazz pickups for sale. The pickups are completely unmarked, and the covers have a really cool and discreet "SCN" logo etched in the corner - far more subtle than the garish "NOISELESS" logo that used to be used in silver or gold. The pickups are stacked coils giving a nice rounded single coil growl, but without the hum you get from straight ahead single coil units. The polepieces are staggered also, with the A and D string slightly raised to provide a more balanced output across all 4 strings. So, anyone fancy giving these units a loving home? £40 for the pair including postage.
