  1. Fantastic! I'll be sure to grab myself a copy on Tuesday mate.
  2. Okay, so I guess most of you will have seen the refinish posts I created for the Shell Pink USA '62 reissue Jazz Bass and the Eric Johnson Strat in Surf Green (here's a link http://basschat.co.uk/topic/165861-fender-usa-62-jazz-bass-refinish-at-home/page__fromsearch__1) So, my latest refinish is for a swamp ash bodied '56 P-Bass reissue. I'm thinking of doing it in Shell Pink as I saw another '56 in that colour and thought it was pretty cool. Anyone got any other suggestions for possible colour finishes I might be tempted by before I order the lacquers?
  3. The bass will be hand delivered to Matt in about an hour or so. Thanks again Matt, hope you enjoy your new instrument. Kevin
  4. Just not been buying on this forum mate - the Kev collection is still robust! Hahaha
  5. Sold to Matt pending payment. Thanks mate! And to everyone else who were kind enough to contact me, thanks do much for the interest, you guys are great!!
  6. Well, it's a gorgeous bass, but it's not really being used right now, so it's sitting at home when it should be being played!! I ordered this bass in Tobacco Sunburst to replicate the current look of Pino's faded out sunburst Stingray. Pino is also the reason I opted for the black scratchplate and 2band EQ. The bass comes with the Ernie Ball hardcase (as seen in the pic below). £700 delivered in the UK and this immaculate condition bass can be yours! Anyone interested? 7. I'm going to see Brit Floyd in Glasgow in May. You can see clips from their free DVD on YouTube. They're a class act!! You can get a free copy of Thr full length concert DVD via their website - it's great!!
  8. The label says "Tatra by Rosetti. Stradivarius model". It's just a nice, decent sounding starter bass.
  9. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that when Jimmy Moon repaired the head box, he also installed side dot markers on Thr fingerboard edge - helps us non double bass players get to grips with where we're supposed to be on the neck. 10. Here's pics showing the break repair - well out of the way of your fretting hand so it has no impact on the playability or sound of the instrument. 13. My double bass looks great in the corner of the room, but it's not getting used. So, I'm thinking, maybe there's someone out there who fancies learning to play one and always thought about taking the plunge? I bought this used for £400 and had it literally2a minutes when I knocked it over and snapped the head off it outside the bloke's house where I bought it! Aaagh! I took it straight to Jimmy Moon in Glasgow, and he put my mind af ease straight away. "Kev, it's a clean break, and to be honest, nearly all double basses get head repairs at some stage". The repair cost me £170 and the bass plays better as Jimmy (himself a double bassist) set it up. I've included pics of the break repair. It has absolutely no impact on the playability or sound. The bass has Non-steel core strings, do you can actually fret the notes and get a lovely deep "woomp" from the strings. For any electric bassist who's tried to play steel strung double basses will know what I'm talking about!! Steel strings = ouch!!!! Hahaha Anyhow, I'm based in Motherwell, and the price of £350 includes the padded gig bag. 14. Here's s clip of the Fender factory in 1959. Everything around then and for the next few years was very much "use what's available". Hardware was used as it was available, neck shapes depended upon how operatives fed the wood into the routers, etc. All these anoraks who profess exact knowledge most probably are bedroom techno geeks. If you ask guys who ACTUALLY deal with genuine vintage stuff (guys like Clive Brown), they'll tell you that specs can be different from guitar to guitar from the same mAnufacturing period around that time. Anyhow, here's the clip I mentioned earlier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nswcAPvH0P8&sns=em
  15. This sunburst is a keeper, I think I'll buy another 'USA 62 reissue to paint Surf Green!

  19. This has always been a fave clip of mine - Dane jamming in a local bar in Perth. Funky or what??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UXy_l7RZS4&sns=em
  20. Great! Incidentally, if you do decide to change the pickguard, you'll need a '62 reissue one - NOT the '75 reissue I mentioned!! The outer edge screwholes are in different places on the '62 and '75 versions you see.
  21. The bass now has a new home! John in Edinburgh just bought it. He seems really pleased with it.
  22. Just drove to Edinburgh and the Shell Pink Jazz Bass has a new home! The bass was bought by John and he seems really pleased with it. John, it was really nice meeting you, and I hope you have loads of fun with the bass (hope your wife likes it also!)
  23. Stockholm Syndrome, Haimesy and Stacker - messages sent to you guys.
