Okay, for those folk who are curious about the unit - here's how it arrives - nicely packaged. I'm going to give the unit a run through and hope to post some soundclips or videos this weekend.

Went to the Post Office yesterday and found that it wasn't my Groove Regulator which was waiting, but a TW Steel watch - Now, I know they are "outsize", but this is mental - this thing is the size of my wrist!! Anyhow, in regards to the Groove Regulator - I arrived home today and there's a letter from Parcelforce asjking for the VAT charge plus an additional £8 handling fee from Parcelforce!! Stealing pigs! Oh well, charge has been paid so the filter should be with me early next week.

The price now would be £1,499 for a bass like that from John

I prefer the stack layout - I love the ability to keep the neck pickup fully open tone-wise to retain that throaty roar, and at teh same time being able to slightly roll off the highs on the brodge pickup so that it doesn't sound overly "quacky" when it is soloed.

Anyone enjoy Muse at Glastonbury?
kevin_lindsay replied to TomNicoBassman's topic in General Discussion
Here's a thing......... I was watching the start of the Pet Shop Boys set and thought "if there was distorted guitar playing along here, and the vocals were proto-operatic, this would sound like Muse!!" Personally, I think Muse are a great band. Also, as stated previously, what's the deal with "the pipe". Is this the Jack Hargreaves influence - HOW!!!??? -
Personally, I thought Stevie was fantastic. The guy is a true musical legend, and hearing him playing live is a true privilege. As for the sound, after the first couple of songs the bass was clear as a bell on my TV mix (apart from when Nate switched to keyboard bass, then the bass sound dropped out). The guy played a great set for a festival closing slot - just hearing the audience singing along with so many classic tracks supports his choices.

I saw the review clip in Bass Player a while back and always thought the unit sounded cool. So, thanks to you guys, I've now ordered myself one - yippee!!

Gumtree is like any other selling medium. Some bad sellers in there, but most are okay. I got a wonderful Fender Custom Shop Nocaster Relic with both cases last July for....... £750!!!!!!!! Probably the best sounding and playing Tele I have ever played. I took the neck off when I got it and e-mailed Fender to verify everything - all OK and the spec for the serial number was exact. Also, the instrument had only been made by the Custom Shop about 10 months prior to me buying it. Amazing deal!!

here I am in New York sitting in the apartment, wide awake due to jet lag, and watching garbage TV and playing my new USA Reissue '62 Fender Jazz Bass. The bass is great, and I've changed the Fender scearchplate for a custom made nitro one. So, does anyone want the original Fender plate for £15 delivered in the UK? I'm back in the Uk from Tuesday 25th. Anyone who's interested, just let me know. Thanks, Kevin

Okay, so the pink wonder has been taken out for a test drive at a rehearsal - it sounds REALLY good!!!!! The Tone is just as a P-Bass should be with deep lows and a lovely top end "zing". Dead spots? Only the one at the Eb on the G string (8th fret position). The neck is chunky at my own request - I wanted to emulate the early P-Bass style necks. The feel is big but is in no way clubby or clumsy - it feels really comfortable in the left hand and the notes have a fantastically woody tone - just what I was looking for. In a band setting the bass sounds incredible - the natural sound just sits in it's own pocket on the mix and rumbles along. Everyone commented on how clear and solid it sounded. The colour is exactly what I wanted, so I'm extremely happy. delivery was quick also. Left Carey's workshop mid afternoon on Tuesday (around midnight Tuesday night my time), and was delivered to me here in Scotland on Friday lunchtime). I'll try and get some sound clips posted. Here's some initial pics (including some with chrome covers placed on the body to see how they would look)
