1. Yeah, there are some dodgy scams on there. Saying that, there are some great bargains. Such as - my Fender Custom Shop Nocaster Relic. Less than a year old when I bought it via Gumtree. All the goodies in the case. Actually, it came with the two cases - the black moulded fender case, and the retro, tweed shaped "thermometer" case. Cost? £750!!!!!!! Result!!!! 2. John Mayer's latest album "Born And Raised" is my current disc of choice. Very 70's singer songwriter vibe to it. I'm hearing the influences of Clapton, Elton John, Neil Young, Allman Brothers amongst others. It's a REALLY good album! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0x2OQpFvak&sns=em
3. Unfortunately they're not mine - boo hoo. Paul Turner emailed me the picture yesterday just to make me jealous! Hahaha. (the units are his). Paul used the Deep Impact pedal in various settings on the last Jamiroquai album and needs a few units to set the sounds up in the effects loop (plus he has 4 units so he has backup - the pedals aren't exactly "road robust" internally"!!)
4. This is just showing off!!! Hahaha
5.
Y'all know that there are some great young bands playing near you for a lot less money, right?
And why would going to see Rush next year stop me (or anyone else) from going to see other bands? I'm going to see plenty of other acts between now and next May (in fact, I'm going to see Dorje and The Drills tomorrow night - Phil X!!! Yay!!!).
6. Some folk say they're not going as it's too expensive - fair enough, that's your opinion. As for me, I'm going and am really looking forward to it. I'm loving the new album and it'll be great to hear the band again shifting some air in Glasgow.
7. Briwax is great stuff!! And, a tin lasts for ages! My brother had a through neck Strat style guitar made by Chris McIntyre way back in the 90's. He bought a 400g tin of Briwax shortly afterwards to maintain the lustre of his instrument. Here we are in 2012 and the guitar is still amazing, and the tin of Briwax has decades left of use still available.
8. The Gallery!!!! http://www.thebassgallery.com/
9. I've had absolutely no problem accessing the website. It's always been readily available. No idea why you should be experiencing problems viewing the site. It's very strange.
10. Bass playing front people? Phil Lynott Sting Paul McCartney Lemmy Etc, etc, etc
11. Seems pointless to me. If you're in the Market for bass gear snd someone on Basschat has the item you're after, it's easy to see it in the classified section. Posting a "hot deal" in relation to eBay defeats the purpose as it means loads of potential buyers bid a d the price shoots up.
12. After all this TIM reading these posts, we need a biscuit to keep us going
13. My copy arrived this morning - the fan pack is really a great idea. Mega magazine. The CD book format is very cool also. I'm enjoying the album so far. I'll give it s few listens before I make any comment - I don't want to make any rash statements. Saying that, I'm enjoying the looser, "live in the studio" feel to the album. The track "The Wreckers" has a "Live At Leeds / The Who" vibe to it.
14. Jean-Jacques Burnel from The Stranglers!!!!! I heard that fabulously grungy bass sound and thought "I want to do THAT"!!!
15. No sign of the disc here either! Saying that, we were told it'd be delivered on Monday 11th. So anything sooner will be an unexpected bonus. Still doesn't stop me from wanting it NOW though!!! Hahaha
16. Eh? Billy's Attitude bass was developed by Yamaha based upon his modified Fender Precision bass!!! Do the forum guys think his Yamaha model was created after s dream he had or something?
17. Had a look - what's with mr vain at the top of each page? I'll stay with BassChat!
18. I've not received any notification either! I was under the impression that it would arrive on Monday 11th Jume. How come some people are getting it earlier?
19. I've ordered the Classic Rock pack too - I'm really looking forward to getting it on the 11th June.
20. It's so good seeing Trevor back playing and producing again after the truly tragic events of a few years ago. The man is an inspiration!
21. Sold a double bass to Stu - really nice guy who drove over from Newcastle to meet me. Effortless deal - top bloke.
22. Sold to Stu!! Nice meeting up with you mate. Hope your journey home was nice. Thanks again, Kevin
23. I sold my Fender Custom Shop 1961 NOS Fender Jazz Bass to John. Really nice guy to speak to, who did everything exactly as he said to complete the deal. Great communications throughout. Jon is a really great guy to deal with. Thanks again mate, I hop you enjoy your new bass.
24. I'm the same, if I agree a deal with someone, I follow it through. It's the sane whether I'm buying or selling. I sold a Sweetsound Mojo Vibe to a guy in Portugal and the courier delivery ended up costing me £45 due to the buyer being in a remote location (that was around £25 more than I had expected). I never asked the buyer for extra on the delivery as we had already agreed the sale price
25. The bass looks mega!!!! Plus, the video review idea is very cool
