1. And sold to Paul, unless he wants to swap it for my old bass that he point blank refuses to sell back to me
 2. KiOgon P-Bass Loom: CTS premium pots 250K, split shafts. Sprague 0.1uF caps (better than the orange drops apparently) for that vintage vibe, Motown/Jamerson velvet smooth bottom end. Switchcraft jack socket, wired with vintage waxed cloth wire & simple solderless terminals. Instructions, screwdriver, easy fit, sounds great. This is barely used (I replaced the same spec loom but with solid shafts). The volume pot is slightly knurled due to me trying to fit an MIJ knob onto it, and consequently it is not as straight turning as the tone pot. It is a tiny difference and hardly noticeable in use, but there you go. Please note these are split shaft pots 5.9 - 6mm Cost £29.40 new, selling for £19 inc post.
 3.
I bought myself one for my 40th birthday
Nice!
 4.
Why would you buy a short-scale strat when you could go for a Jaguar....the coolest guitar ever made ?
I actually never realised these had 24" scale till you mentioned it! I may well give one a go, although I don't really want a trem. I've been playing a Squire Mini around the house which I think is about 23.5" scale. I really like it, but it's a bit on the small side generally.
 5. I think these came out last year, 24" scale, I have a rising GAS for one... might head down to Guitar Guitar tomorrow... http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/electric_guitars_detail.asp?stock=14082912181958&gclid=CjwKEAjwhJmwBRDGsamBu8Pp7FwSJACKD1KHwoPWPnippsfkDPYHMThXhRfaxIV_OPMKlRts-E5RWBoCbZjw_wcB
 6.
Barnes & Barnes - Fish Heads Edit: still struggling with the embed thing
take the 's' out of https (i have no idea why that works by the way)
 7.
The Plastic Bertrand song uses the backing track to this: With a new vocal (which wasn't actually by Plastic Bertrand but by the producer of the original version).
Interesting, thanks. Interesting how the falsetto 'ooh ooh ooh' in the cover version gives it the jump-out pop hook.
 8.
But maybe is more like what the OP envisaged.
I do really like that actually And the Spock one is pretty nuts.
 9.
Or whimsical but beautiful like this:
That's great, charming.
 10. i need a new genre - that includes Trio Da Da Da / Flying Lizards / Telstar but excludes The Birdie Song / Cum On Squeeze Me Boils / Etc ! 'Novelty' is too broad! (too awful!!)
 11.
Bohemian Rhapsody.

Toy Dolls. Their reading of Blue Suede Shoes is a minor epic, and its timing is glorious
Excellent!
Bohemian Rhapsody.
I was wondering about this, it certainly fits my novelty blurring definition in the original post. Even though the song makes me feel queezy.
 12.
Everything by Kate Bush.
that's probably true.
 13.
I suppose this counts too:
Yes, that is brilliant!
 14.
Sid is Dead by Wavis O'Shave
Nice!
 15. This!
 16.
Got me scratching around now - this?
Of course, how did I miss this! 100% hits the nail on the head! A perfect blend of weirdness, sonic novelty and pop quirkyness
 17.
Jilted John
Of course, excellent!
 18.
How about this then?
Like it! Scores high on the quirky weirdness but low on the 'pop' (i.e. popular) scale!
 19.
Are these two along the lines you're looking for:
Interesting lyrically but I don't think they have the sonic novelty to put them in my wanted pile!
 20.
This is seriously my favourite record of all time. I want it played at my funeral. https://www.youtube....h?v=Y8sfrg4bFoc I can't work out how to do the embed thing...
great example!
